Valerian himself though... he irks me, and I'm not sure why

Dark Tower hit 19.5 million for the weekend, beating Dunkirk by about 1.9 million.

Wonder Woman is at 399.5 million and should hit 400 sometime this week.

Thanks to two very weak weekends in a row, Spider-Man has passed Man of Steel, and looks next to topple Iron Man 2 on the superhero film list. It has climbed to #71 all-time.

yet another wonderful addition to this years rouge gallery of animated movies, how did things go so terribly wrong?

like for best animated picture you could take 2016 minus the 5 actual nominees and it would still make a stronger field than 2017

So I did not know this, but apparently King Arthur: Legend of the Sword may end up being the biggest box office bomb of all time.

John Carter and Lone Ranger COULD have bigger box office losses due to inconsistent figures on terms of total budget (including marketing) but King Arthur posted a $150 million loss.

My dad, my brother, and I actually watched it in theaters. I thought it was hot garbage and they loved it.

So I did a little math, and not only was the new King Arthur movie outgrossed by the trashy 2004 King Arthur film to the tune of 51 million to 39 million, but adjusted for inflation, that film made 74 million 2017 dollars, so it essentially sold double the tickets.

Spidey has climbed to #70 all-time. If I was a betting man, I'd say the maximum possible spot it could reach is #54, currently occupied by Transformers.

I've heard that it's actually pretty decent.

Weekend Outlook:

There's not much potential for this weekend to break the downward trend of the past month; Annabelle 2 has already brought in about 4 mil on Thursday previews which is pretty damn good. That said, the only other major release is Nut Job 2, which I think won't top Dunkirk. Dunkirk is probably locked in for second place still this weekend; Nut Job 2 probably will be lucky to break 10 mil.

Overall, not an exciting weekend - looking at the entire August schedule, it seems like August is the new dumping ground for movies.

I don't really have numbers for 4000+, mainly 3000+. Most comparable is the recent King Arthur film which opened at 3,700 films and grossed 15 million for the weekend.

So we could be breaking new ground here.

Yeah, she loves horror movies even though like every single one she has ever seen has scared her. She can't even watch The Ring or Grudge because of the girls and the weird noise. I basically laugh my way through every horror movie so it's a bonus if they're intentionally funny like Tucker & Dale vs Evil.

But the big news!

Nut Job 2 - 3 million. Opening day. Guys, it's happening. Lowest 4000 theater opening weekend gross ever. It's coming.
