Wouldn't that be funny if I became a guy who got really upset about how people treated the culture of gaming. Like I started challenging gamer girls on their credentials and getting mad at people who say they grew out of games but I do all this starting at age 26

I actually felt kind of bad after whining so much that I probably wouldn't get one and it was really easy for me, while you guys went there over four hours early. Well, I had to get up really early, so I guess that's one sacrifice. And obviously you did need to go early, even if you could have shaved off an hour or more.

That is pretty dumb. Though if a cute girl was wearing a Zelda shirt I wouldn't grill her on it since it's an easy common interest to start a conversation about. I get a little annoyed when somebody (male or female) isn't as big a fan of something as they profess to be, but almost everyone does that, so I keep my judging silent.

Most people I know who claim to be huge Zelda fans have actually just played Ocarina of Time and one or two other games

As I said to my brother last night, after all our fretting the secret to getting an SNES classic was just going somewhere and sitting down.

I bet chewy is going to buy a bunch of those snes games when they come out on switch too

The fretting is the stressful part. Checking on websites and getting up early or waiting in line isn't that bad, but doing so with the prospect it's all for nothing is stressful. I probably won't repeat the experience with the NES or possible N64 Classic since I already own most of the games I want to play anyway.

Did you see how people are bitching that the SNES Classic uses the same hardware as the NES Classic? I don't see what the problem is with this. Did they really expect a power upgrade over something that ran 30 year old software, like the NES Classic should have only just barely been able to run its games?

Just as it finally stopped being embarrassing to be a gamer as a "geeky" hobby, now it's embarrassing because you might be mistaken as a bigoted manchild who complains about everything

It's not the best DKC on Super Nintendo. It's probably somewhere in the 8-10 range on my list

DKC1 is one of those games that is so good that it makes you wonder why they even bothered making sequels, or even more advanced video game consoles.

I would have said the same thing about Mario Kart but the MK on super nintendo is so good, but all MK games are good and I'm glad they kept making them. MK64 is the best tho

I do like the aesthetic of DKC1-3 more than any DK games that came afterward. Even when they brought the side scrollers back on Wii or whatever, the graphics are more appealing in 16 bit

have you played link to the past yet? It's 100000000000000000000000x better than OoT. OoT is an average game, but America has their nostalgia goggles on and thinks it's the best game ever made

I've played it before but never finished it. I'm taking these one at a time. There's a decent chance I will agree with you because OoT was a bit of a slog when I tried playing through it last like five years ago. Breath of the Wild is better than OoT and I doubt LTTP is as good

I know that everyone loves OoT, but I never had an N64 growing up, so I never played it. I played it when I was older, and I simply just don't see the appeal. Everyone has the right to like whatever games they want and that's all well and good, but for me personally, I didn't like it much. 3 years ago or so, I bought ALttP on Wii shop, and tried it out and it's an incredibly good game. It paved the way for me getting A Link Between Worlds on 3DS, and is honestly a big reason why I bought a Switch (breath of the wild is awesome as we all know).

My friend that is fine. You're entitled to your opinion as are chewy and STLCards1991 who are on the opposite spectrum. I played it right after I played Kingdom Hearts and I thought KH was the best game ever but then it was immediately clear to me that OoT was a far better game. That's just a little info about my experience that perhaps you can relate to as an old KH head

Kingdom Hearts extremely does not hold up.

I just played Kingdom Hearts HD Remix a year or two ago and I think it does hold up.

And about A Link to the Past, what was so great about that game is that it's really fun to explore and find secrets. The world seemed so large back then, so it was a perfect game to play back when you could only get one game every so often so you had to make it last. Beyond that nostalgia, it's still a very well-polished game and has some difficulty which I think is missing from some other Zeldas.

I played the HD remix too and I was very put off by what a button masher it is. I will say that while the story is of course absolute nonsense, the rivalry between Sora and Riku works pretty well. Even if they're both total goobers.

The Rockies won tonight but so did the Brewers, so now we still need another win or a Brewers loss to clinch. I'm sure either will happen but it would have been nice tonight. If they both lose, it's not as fun as clinching on a big win.

BotW is probably the "best" Zelda almost unarguably, but I still think OoT is my favorite. ALttP is still my favorite 2D Zelda, so I think it's definitely worth playing through. A lot of those 2D ones are much more similar to each other than the 3D ones, though. If you've already played through ALBW, then you might have the same lukewarm reaction to ALttP that I had when I played ALBW.

I can't yet properly rate ALttP but as I've said before I like every 3D Zelda better than every 2D Zelda I've played. I think all the 3D ones are so good you could basically make a case for any of them as the best, although BotW is pretty much the best game ever made so maybe that Twilight Princess case for the top spot isn't as strong as it once was.

My least favorite Zelda is easily the Minish Cap. It's still not bad but comparatively it's very forgettable. I'd take either of the maligned DS games over it.

BotW isn't even a top 10 game of all time, but I think ALttP is slightly better than BotW

Does the Snes classic have Crono Trigger or any old school final fantasy games? I'm curious to which version (for lack of a better word) is on the classic. I have the ps1 ports of those games, and they ran very poorly. In crono trigger, you would hit the menu button to use a potion or whatever, and it took 4 second for the menu to actually open. Made it borderline unplayable

It's got three Square games: Final Fantasy III (which is actually VI), Secret of Mana, and Super Mario RPG. Chrono Trigger is the biggest game missing from the console I'd say. I have those PS1 ports as well and I agree they are unplayable. I didn't finish Chrono trigger until I got it on DS.

I still can't believe I beat Trigger first on ps1. I remember the loading times (even the menu screen) being insanely long but the game was so enjoyable I played anyway.

Then I played on the SNES and saw how smooth and flawless it was. It became my favorite game of all time

Man, that's a bold statement. I easily prefer 3D Zelda overall, but I think some of the 2D games are better than some of the 3D games. If you asked me to rank all of them together, though, I don't think I could do it. Even separate lists for 2D and 3D is hard enough.

I think it is the most forgettable, but the DS games are much worse. Those are only memorable because of how annoying they are. Minish Cap isn't that bad but it suffers from falling into a weird niche with the GBA.

I think everyone would agree with that. Even I do, having never played it. But personally, I really wish they had DKC2. The first DKC really isn't any fun once you are familiar with it.

There are a few games on this thing that are neither particularly good or noteworthy. Star Fox and Star Fox 2 are apparently bad now (I haven't gotten around to them yet) but at least they're iconic / never before played. We didn't need the kirby golf game, Contra 3, or Ghouls and Ghosts. One of those should be DKC2. I won't hold their feet to the fire on Chrono Trigger only because Final Fantasy VI is basically just as good or better depending on who you ask and I was surprised we even got that one. Maybe instead of Secret of Mana but I'm glad it has that one because I've never played it.

Anyway Super Metroid is awesome. Who knew?
