Edith Macias, the student who stole a classmates "Make America Great Again" hat and demanded its wearer be punished could now face a FELONY charge over it!!

The University of California, Riverside student grabbed smug student Matthew Vitale's hat off his head on September 27th and went on a profanity laced rant against him.

Matt said he wasn't going to press charges against her but that changed when a campus officer told him her own bizarre video could be evidence of a "felony" since it shows her taking the hate directly off him.

He said "Honestly, this isn't me trying to get revenge on her. This is just me just trying to say: "Look, behaviour like this is not tolerated in this country"

California law says a second degree felony robbery as "taking of personal property in the possession of another, from his person or immediate presence and against his will, accomplished by means of force or fear" Penalty ranges from probation to 5 YEARS in Prison.

He said "I very strongly believe that if she had been wearing a Malcolm X cap or a pro-abortion cap, and i had snatched it off her heac and ran down to student life and turned her in and demanded that she be kept from wearing that hat, i firmly believe that i would be sitting in jail right now"

The University has been vague in their statements on the incident stating they stand strongly for free speech and its protection on campus.

The staff managed to convince Edith to turn over the hat and returned it to Matt but before she protested against the actions.

Matt's Facebook profile suggests he is a pro-life christian conservative who posts daily conspiracy theories against liberals and is a strong supporter of the border wall. He also blasted the NFL protests and demands Trump to CUT funding welfare for "lazy" americans. He also has several anti-gay posts where he describes men kissing as "blasphemy"...

punishment is deserved. felony is way overboard. it being in a school setting, it should just be school like punishment, suspension or something along those lines.

but even outside of school felony is overboard. at least where I live if I stole something small and relatively cheap like a hat, I wouldn't get a felony. i'd likely get a slap on the wrist, and it permanently on my record I was convicted of stealing. at worst i'd get probation maybe a really short stint in jail (jail if it wasn't a first offense) but ultimately a misdemeanor charge

rarely but it does happen. the parts of the south I live in racism isn't really that bad. they exist mostly in the older generations, but even they keep it to themselves 99% percent of the time.

some blacks had ancestors whom freely (freely as in they where not slaves, but yeah probably drafted) served under the confederate army so some of them will wave the flag. and others don't give a fuck and are proud to be a southerner no matter what color their skin is.

Most rapists don't record themselves committing their crime and then post that video to social media where they continue to brag about their crimes. If they did, the criminal justice system would be less of a he-said/she-said where countless men get sent away on false charges. Granted, the one real exception is R. Kelly since he recorded himself and got away with it.
