My late wife was vegan. You start learning all the local places, and good for you for supporting her. She helped me eat healthier, but I to this day have a hard time giving up meat and cheese. There are a lot of place I tried that were actually really good. And sometimes places HAVE vegan options, and you can just order whatever you want. If you have a Pizza Fusion near you, they offer completely vegan pizza, and completely meat filled cheese pizza for you.

the girl can't compromise and go to a place that serves meat but has vegan options? or are you pretending to be vegan too in hopes of scoring with them?

Meat centric places serve very sorry excuses for vegetarians and vegans. Maybe a salad or something with tofu put in. Not at all like going to a place that actually knows how to focus on plant matter.

Meat eaters don't need to have meat every meal, veg eaters can't have meat (and for vegans can't have animal products). There's often no vegan entree option, not even one, at many meat focused places.

Compromise is going to a veg place and not eating meat for a meal.

Wow no shit it was a joke I think you're actually doing a good job by looking

In my experience the places most likely to have good vegetarian selections with the meat are Southeast Asian food places. There were quite a few great Chinese places in my old city with huge veg menus. Don't think they were vegan. Ethiopian food also has great vegetarian selections. Indian food great for vegetarian. Vegan is more case by case.

It's abysmal and the waitstaff often don't know what is actually vegan. I have gone out and been told it's vegan and then been told sorry it had milk powder in in. Always the fucking milk powder.

if you ever worked with food, youd understand WHY places dont do both. cross contamination is a bitch and isnt really worth it unless your restaurant is in a ritzy area (more vegans/vegetarians)

In a case like that I would say it's really stupid to limit your eating like that when it has to do with health. Something similar happened to my mom when she tried to be vegan. The doctor she went to told her she had to eat meat.

Well, I'm sure it wasn't all vegetables and fruits. I don't remember which specifically but I think she was the first person I've met that was allergic to some fruits and vegetables (knowingly at least). I had never heard of that before

There's an overlap between pollen allergies and fruit allergies. I've had a few friends discover they were allergic to fruits. Strawberry allergies are pretty common, even apples.

It seems silly to be a vegan with allergies to what you ought to be eating. I can't do dairy, that plays well into not eating it. :S

oh i do know all too well. There's OTC lactose enzymes you can get at the pharmacy that you eat with dairy, look in the section for antacids. See if they help! it was the only way i could have ice cream or a glass of milk without being miserable for hours after.

I once saw a vegan product sold as "ribs" too. It's ridiculous. There's really no reason to call a non meat product something like that.

What got rid of my indigestion was cutting out the animal products

(and not eating as late)
