Do people not like Thor? I wouldn't be surprised. Best Thor movie out of them all, although that's not a high bar to clear.

The beginning was an outright mess, although I sympathize with the screenwriters. They had to go through all the stuff that was set-up in earlier movies and it really hurt the film to resolve those plot points so quickly and make them meaningless. That said the Doctor Strange cameo was fun at least, and I think they made the right decision to not spend too much time on that stuff and go straight to Sakaar since that was where the real meat of the film was. Everything got much better when it reached that point.

I feel like if you hadn't been following the MCU you'd end up completely lost, which might hurt the film when judged on its own, but all the callbacks, references, and plot elements that were built on what happened before ended up being very rewarding for me as a viewer. Loki cowering in fear when seeing the Hulk was fantastic, although I've gotten tired of the character as whole.

I also like how the conflict was won. It wasn't anything mindblowing, but it was nice to see the villain defeated in a way that was kind of unique. I'm not sure why so much time was spent on giving the henchman a character arc, but at least that ended in a good way too.

Overall the best thing about the movie was that it was just fun. It wasn't amazing, but it had a lot of humor, and some satisfying "hell yeah" moments that made it enjoyable enough.

The movie's biggest flaw by far. It's still clearly better than The Dark World. I'm not sure yet whether to put it above the original.

It was great. The Matt Damon/Sam Neill/Luke Hemsworth cameos were sooooooo good. Anthony Hopkins as Loki as Odin had me dying. "Oh shit!" indeed.

Valkyrie really stole the show, Tessa Thompson is awesome and I had no idea who she was prior to this.

And as someone who lists Thor as his favorite hero I'm glad they pushed him a tad closer to his comic strength levels and also acknowledged that he has his powers without the hammer, it's just a focus. It's a common misconception. Slightly disappointed that the Thor/Hulk fight didn't end conclusively but at least it was much more clear than in The Avengers that they're pretty evenly matched.

Warriors Three were done dirty but they're too minor even in the comics to really have a prevalent role so I get it. Don't like it, I love them, but I get it.

Sif was off Asgard per word of Feige, aka Jaime Alexander was filming Blindspot. Wouldn't be surprised to see her back at some point, somehow.

My only complaints are how over-edited it all feels and the way the villain was handled. Not into the bottomless knives gimmick and they have Blanchett spend way too much time explaining her backstory and motivations without really touching on whether she's aware of Ragnarok's status. Was she not expecting it?

Everything on trash planet was good though. Goldblum was hilarious, the Pure Imagination scene was a perfect intro to his character. I loved how they kept mocking the "sun's gettin real low" line from Age of Ultron.

IW footage spoilers

The leaked IW footage had a brief clip of him handing it to someone. I'm guessing he only took it as a just in case to save himself if Thanos showed up as he could've handed it over to Thanos at any point when he was posing as Odin and didn't.

This was a fantastic movie in pretty much every respect. Really loved it. Easily the best Thor movie. It's certainly in the upper echelons of the MCU. I wanna say top 5 but it's hard to say what it edges out (off the top of my head I'd say its The Avengers, Winter Soldier, Civil War, GotG, and Homecoming)

Saw it last night - it was alright. Handily the best Thor movie but that bar was barely off the floor for me. Definitely don't think it's in the upper crust of Marvel - a lot of the humor was really forced, I was bored in a few stretches and it continued Marvel's more recent (and really frustrating) trend of being terrified of letting a serious moment breathe without cramming a joke in.

I liked it but it was really overhyped. The reviews I read prior to going into it were like 94% and saying best comic movie ever. It was nowhere close to that.

Like the entire middle of the plot on Sakaar felt so disjointed from the actual plot. Like you could've slotted in any sort of filler in that section instead and the movie would have been the same. I've not read the comics so I can only assume Sakaar has some relevance in that. Like I get that the Valkyrie was there (wtf didn't they give her a name?) but A. she could have been anywhere and gotten the same result and B. she didn't actually do anything in the grand scheme of things so it's not like it would have made a difference if she didn't exist at all (for the record I liked her, just not sure she was actually necessary).

I didn't really like it that much. It's the best Thor movie, for whatever that means, and it has a handful of neat visuals like the valkyries attacking Hella, but I felt nothing whenever something dramatic was happening like Odin dying or Thor losing his eye.

I will say that there was a little boy seated behind me who thoroughly enjoyed the movie. When Thor called the Hulk stupid, the little boy screamed out in indignation "Hulk's not stupid!"

It's because it becomes predictable and deflates all the tension. I really hate 'meta' stuff in particular unless it's done by Hideo Kojima or Wes Craven.

Really fun movie. Better than Thor 1 and I skipped 2, and I would consider this to be one of my top MCU movies. It's weird I never thought of Hemsworth's acting to be that great in his other MCU movies, but I felt his acting was really good here. I like the character a lot more after watching this, and I won't deny his new hairdo has something to do with it.

I wish Loki had a bigger role and we got to see him use his powers more. I knew him looking at the Tesseract was suspicious.

I also agree Hela's powers were kind of lame. Wish it were something more with depth than just endless knives. Love Cate Blanchett, though. Such a great actress.

It happens all the time in Hollywood movies, but I felt Valkyrie girl changed her mind about rescuing Asgard too quickly.

Acting was top-notch overall.Loved Ruffalo's bits in Sakaar after he returned to human form.

I greatly enjoyed it! Best Thor film by a huuuge margin. And while it was really funny and I laughed a lot, it felt like it tried just a little too hard to be GotG with the humor. And I definitely agree about them ruining serious moments with humor randomly thrown in. My imidiate thought goes to the very end scene when they're watching Asgard get FUCKED and the derp-ass stone guy made his comment. Like it was funny but completely ruined that moment.

In the comics, yeah, at least base level Hulk. Hulk eventually surpasses him in pure strength via anger but Thor is the better fighter with more powers.

And I'm fairly certain MCU Hulk works that way.

It was good but I don't think it was great. Like GotG2 I feel like they overdid the comedy a little. Like it was worse than GotG2 because Ragnarok could have been such a dark film, they could have switched gears after Sakaar and the darkness of Ragnarok would have been even more impactful. I agree that they are getting better at showcasing power levels like Gamora in GotG2 and Thor in this movie. I think the film was good but it could have been great with a few changes. Like others have said, they took away from some huge moments by making the film so light hearted. Odin passes, Thor loses an eye and Asgard is destroyed and the overall feel of the film is that it's funny.

Eh, I don't really think the movie is making it out to be a secret to the viewers. I think the point was to be like it was a "surprise" that the viewers were all in on, and seeing the reactions from Thor (past the initial one) and Loki, and what happened next was the payoff, not... Hulk himself. It felt to me like the movie knew everybody knew it was Hulk, and it was more of a tongue-in-cheek "But Thor doesn't know, shhh" kind of thing.

I kind of disagree. It would be a the audience knows moment if theyd shown the Hulk first, but the way its shot with the exploding green fireworks and stuff makes it seem like a surprise. I think marketing and the guys making the movie just werent together on this.

There's no way you could have kept that hidden if you tried. It would have been leaked like crazy.

I would have preferred if they cut out Thor's reaction to preserve that joke, but it's not like the movie was lacking with those scenes spoiled. There've been plenty of movies that basically revealed their entire plot in their trailers, in comparison this one actually had a lot up its sleeve.

Just seen it. Great movie, easily the best of the Thor movies and I'd place it in the top third of the MCU.

Goldblum's character was great.

Also I don't think I've ever burst out in laughter like I did when Banner jumped out of the ship above the bridge and just flopped over in front of the wolf. I do my fair share of eye-rolling at some of the comedy in these movies, and I probably should have expected something there, but I was so locked into the battle that I didn't expect a thing.

It was all I could think about for the next five minutes.
