Well Tharja's stat lines are neutered since she's ranged. The other three are more along the lines of inflated stat lines in comparison to armored sword/lance/axe users. Not to say that Tharja is bad, but she's more of the same of units from Halloween basically. She does have armor march and close counter which are super rare fodder, so pulling for her has their merits. I'm sure I might be forgetting that she got a B skill as well.

Tharja's stat line is lower by the amount ranged units are always lower by (~10 points), and ranged units are generally considered better despite this. Her stat line is fine for an armour; she dumps speed but that's very workable.

well yeah but i dunno she feels like the worst of the bunch simply because the 3 new armor units that are melee at 5*+0 are better than any 5*+4 I assume at this point with the exception of maybe BK/Arden who are max 5*+2 currently

i mean shes a fine unit but in terms of "best units" i'd take the powercrept robin with a tree and lissa with a gigantic bell i think.

i could also be completely wrong about everything. i typically just read winning strategies and stuff unlike a very cool good guy Logan "Lopen" Penn (also KP) who goes off the beaten path with wacky Mathhew 5*+10's and Serra +10's and Felicia+10's where I am a pleb whose highest 'favorite' character is an Eirika+3 or whatever

anyway went from like ~103 stockpiled orbs (plus clearing the normal maps so i guess like 105/106) and down to 35 netted me:

lissa on first 5 pull (so 15 effectively spent, since free summon and shit)

15 pulls got me robin (on the 14th of 15)

i think i am content with both units. finally got an armor march unit. i think robin was my ideal pull since i havent gotten armor march yet (this is totally going to be turned into an sacred seal soon imo) and i dont really have an lance armor. i have effie but i dont really like her, so i wont use her.

also my girlfriend who absolutely abhors tharja's sexualization...pulled her. after saying she wouldnt pull red orbs. probably hit her on 3% or something. found that amusing at least.

i think tharja's base artwork is really good. having not really played awakening i never actually recruited her, but she looks so...weird in awakening. she looks borderline constipated i feel. christmas tharja's face is just off to me. dont really care about her wearing a bikini or being an armor and wearing a bikini she just looks dumb. glad i didnt pull her.

my highest "favorite" is tied at unmerged, because my favorites are 5* exclusive <_<

though if you were implying the new armor units are worth some ridiculous amount of arena score, that is absolutely not the case. an unmerged BK and even Fjorm are still worth more.

10 stat points = 200 SP = 1 merge

the stats from merges and skills do not matter, only the SP and the merges themselves.

nah not talking about point valuation or anything (i think arena score is dumb and im content staying 16/17/18 depending on how much i wanna play arena).

im just talking unit effectiveness. like KP was talking about a Sheena project. I imagine you'd need to like...get her to at least 5*+5 for Sheena to be even like remotely close to as good as Winter Chrom/Lissa with zero merges. And this isnt even accounting for their innate, super strong skills (vengeful/brazen shit)

Which goes to say to make Sheena just as good as like a base Chrom/Lissa you gotta:

1) Pull a new Xmas unit
2) kill off said Xmas unit for the vengeful/brazen ability of your liking and hope it fits into the build you came up with ~2 weeks ago (so if you run DC, you'd need the B skill from tharja or robin. so if you have your A skill tied, then i guess you go back to step 1)
3) merge the fucker to +5 or higher
4) give them slaying weapon+ and enhance it

well Sheena isn't great to begin with. i don't think the new units outclass Black Knight, Amelia, Hector or Effie at all; just the skills are too good and Sheena got left by the wayside.

Yeah, Tharja's Awakening profile (when she's talking, not the full body art) is so...weird and unlike how she's portrayed now. It's interesting.

I agree with Rhajat > Tharja >>> Christmas Tharja. I know the subreddit thought Rhajat's art is one of the best in the game, but that's absurd. It's just better drawn than the other Tharjas.

Also, regarding comparing stats to Effie/Sheena...yeah. Here's a quick comparison of all the new Christmas units and another unit that they closely resemble.

Chrom vs. Effie: +1 HP / same atk / -3 spd / +2 def / +6 res.
Lissa vs. Sheena: -2 HP / +3 atk / +5 spd / -1 def / +1 res.
Robin vs. Amelia: -2 HP / +1 atk / same spd / same def / +2 res.
Tharja vs. H!Jakob: +1 HP / -1 atk / -5 spd / +1 def / +4 res.

you can't really compare units of different colors directly like that. Elincia was a better Cordelia in a new color, but still didn't obsolete Cordelia.

I'd say Sheena vs Lissa is about even actually. The Spd on Lissa is worthless, she's still gonna get doubled by everything.

Chrom is a better comparison. He trades worthless speed, 1 Def, and 4 Res for 7 HP and 10 Atk. Yeah.

Real talk, Winter Chrom is probably the best unit in the game. His statline is absolutely absurd. His inflated BST combined with barely having any Spd makes him amazing both offensively and defensively. He's Hector+.

Now that I think about it, that talk I had about Berkut's Lance+ earlier in this topic would fit super well on Robin. Give him a +5 HP, +14 Atk, +3 Spd, +7 Res Berkut's Lance and all of a sudden, a neutral Robin's statline is 50/49/37/35/32. Shove a Distant Counter on there with a Distant Defense seal, and I dunno who can one-shot him anymore. Just Nino?

Because then when he gets to 80% HP, his attack and speed shoot up to 56/43.

Armads is good enough that I think Hector is still kinda competitive. Freeing up the B Slot with a free Quick Riposte is a pretty big deal, even if Chrom has like +60 stat points.

Vengeful Fighter powercreeped Quick Riposte something fierce. Armads having it as an innate passive doesn't matter as much anymore. Like

"If unit's HP 50% and foe initiates combat, unit makes a guaranteed follow-up attack. Grants Special cooldown charge +1 per attack. (Does not stack.)"

That's dumb. All of these new abilities are dumb.

Finally fucking beat Squad Assault 4. Xander lived with 1 health and the MVP move was boxing in the random ass blue mage reinforcement between 3 mountain panels as he killed off the armor marched sword knight.

Vengeful Fighter is stupid, but Armads with built in Quick Riposte is still great. I already have Hector, and like him more than any of these characters so it doesn't really seem worth chasing them.

I finally got around to beating the last chain challenges. All available orbs officially farmed.

What happened to your phone? If it's going to be a while, and you're comfortable with it, I have an extra device I can use to log in to your account daily to get the free orbs.

I'm not sure really. It started randomly resetting at times, often showing a lower battery life than what it had prior to it going off. Then one day it just... died. Charging the phone gave no reaction. So I got a replacement.... that constantly restarted and basically didn't work unless the phone was in a charger at all times.

So then I had ANOTHER replacement mailed to me... which didn't work as well. So yeah, it's been a pretty irritating experience.

I think I may take you up on your offer...

Are you able to use an emulator? I think you can still play the game on some emulators. At the very least you can collect daily rewards and do free rolls on banners.

You can definitely play it on emulators very easily. When starting up, I ran three emulators at once with macros set up to perform the reroll process continuously because otherwise it would have taken me a million years to get Lucina.

In my experience you get "a connection error has occurred" if you play for more than a few hours on an emulator (think I tried it on Memu and Nox) and you have to do rather annoying steps with the file explorer and redownloads to fix it. And it'll happen pretty regularly, so the game isn't really playable on emulators.

Maybe different emulators are more forgiving though. This has happened to both me and HGR, though, so it's not necessarily a fluke.

On the plus side because it doesn't happen immediately it is in fact good for rerolling!

the emulator situation has changed a lot since release. back then Nox was the emulator most people used; that's the one where you could run multiple instances with macros. but Nox was killed a long time ago.

now, the only thing that i know works is Memu and it takes quite a bit of setup to get it to work. you need to download the right version, install something on top of it, i think it was called lollipop? and then you need to load a certain image that was originally meant for Fate Grand Order. and then find the FEH apk. i used to use qooapp for that but it doesn't seem to work anymore. i ended up finding the latest version on 4chan, the link to which is long dead now.

and then even after all that, you'd just get the error within minutes, only this isn't rooted so you can't just delete that one file and open it again. so you need to remove/disable every single google service to prevent the error.

Got a deathless run on first try. Winter Robin's contributions mostly consisted of armor marching Sheena around.

Made my Lon'qu 5* +1. I've got a bunch more in the barracks so it's just a matter of accumulating feathers. As far as I can tell, the best way to counter powercreep (if you aren't a whale) is to go all-in on the three star units that you can reliably acquire. Plus he's doing really well so far. Drew another Shanna so I might give him Desperation.

My optimal Fan Favorite team would be something like Ike, Soren, Donnel, Lucina. Three of those simply aren't happening.

Funny you say that, because I know you're referring to Ike being the lone viable one, but I have all 4 of them and the only one that gets decent Arena time is Soren.

I was actually referring to being able to realistically bring then into Arena via merges! You arent breaking into the higher tiers otherwise. I think all four are very good. Ike has a good statline and Distant Counter, Lucina has a good statine and counters dragons in a dragon meta, Donnel is the most underrated lander in the game, and Soren is basically Nino if you give him Gronnblade.

Buuut I'm never going to get enough of them to merge, with the exception of Donnel, who is part of my main team. In fact, the only reason Lonqu got the merge instead of him is because my bonus unit ended up being Winter Robin. I like to cover all the colors so Donny is temporarily on the bench.

it technically would be possible for someone dedicated enough to +10 a 5* exclusive by now while staying f2p. that'd take quite some patience though and almost your entire barracks would be the same color. and unless you were crazy lucky or the circumstances worked out just right, you could only really have one by now.

my favorite all-3* team would probably be like... Serra, Setsuna, Odin? of which Odin is complete garbage, and i only have four copies of the other two combined due to colorless hell (and one being important fodder).

there are still several other 3*s i could potentially want to build to +10. mostly reds and greens. the problem is, i'm indecisive, no one particularly stands out as a favorite, and Hector/BK is my core arena team, so a blue would be a better fit. that's why i'm kinda leaning towards FCorrin to be my first.

Most of the 3* characters don't stand out to me. Nino, but Soren is my favorite green mage. I don't have an optimal version of either. Cherche is good but doesn't benefit from the merges like others do. Adult Tiki is the only other one I've thought about.

I'm already at +5 with Tharja and Fae so I'm pretty committed there. They've made for a great arena core so far - Fae is often able to deal with both Lyn and Reinhardt. Just need some more excuses to pull red and green as I'm out of both now.

Eh I think 4* bases like Soren are viable to +10. My Tharja could theoretically be +5 by now if I merged all my copies. Takes a bit of luck and maybe some drawing on their banners to help a little but yeah.

when i had 7 Catrias in September i thought i might be able to +10 her... then i got zero since then.

still not really sure if i want to. the guidance seal and slaying upgrade makes the idea more attractive than it used to be, but it adds a weakness to arrows when FCorrin could be a hard counter to them instead.

I'm kind of a completionist and don't think ahead, so I spread my feathers waaaaaaaay too thin. Instead of a few really good +6 or whatever characters, I have 58 different characters at 5* and my highest leveled unit is 40+4.

Granted, I've only ever done this to a select few, whereas I pull almost exclusively for 5*-exclusive characters so I'm never able to merge them. Then when I get a different 5* character I wasn't going for, even if they're useless, I just sit on them because going up and un-favoriting them to pass on their skills is too much work. >__>

You only need enough 5* to be able to get a deathless streak in Arena Assault. Everything else is superfluous.

Soren as a *5 +10 is possible but I've only gotten two despite going in hard on his banner and rolling a lot of greens recently. Luck is too big of a factor.

I do like having the extra flexibility, though. If I check the map and see 3 reds and a blue for the opponent, it's nice to just say fuck it and shove Nowi, Nephenee, Azura, and Linde out there, who besides Azura, is basically my G team.

I have so many merges that i need to do, but feathers still arent plentiful enough for f2p and i can only do a max of two merges/month.

We get more feathers than you think a month. Here's a rough estimate

8000 arena + arena assault a week
10000 voting gauntlet a month
215 daily arena quest + home screen
14750 tempest trial feathers assuming 100k points and top 50k rank

That's over 67k feathers a month which doesn't account for other available quests, new chain challenges, infernal GHB, and HM grinding. Getting close to 4 merges a month is realistic
