Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (PS4) - Platinum'd

Went and finished off my Uncharted backlog. I had a pretty great time playing this. Was an overall easier game compared to UC4 but imo it had better pacing and so I think I might've enjoyed this game more than UC4. Being able to play as Chloe was also a really nice change of pace. Wouldn't mind having more Uncharted games where Drake isn't the main character.

The trophies were also less annoying to get too so that's a plus as well.

Celeste (Switch)

The switch is my new home for 2D platformers (probably my favorite genre), so I was really hyped for this prior to release. It did not disappoint! I collected everything until the last chapter and at that point I just finished the game only collecting 3/4 of the strawberries there. I intend to go back and do that, play through the bonus world and do the b-sides.. The controls are tight and the mechanics are solid - the gimmicks in each chapter are very well done. And dat level design is incredible.

That said, this is not my favorite platformer on the Switch. The platforming and mechanics just arent as good as what Slime-San has to offer. Sure, there isnt much of a story in Slime-San, but honestly I could do without a story.

tldr; Celeste is awesome but why have I never seen Slime-San talked about? The game deserves better. Please play it if you like this type of game

Call of Duty: Ghosts (PC) is done.

It's a nice game. I guess it's notoriety precedes it forever just like Asscreed Unity. It's a shame nothing came out of this storyline.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for these oldschool adventure games. There's a certain charm towards the terrible voice acting, stilted animation, and outdated backdrops of Paris. At least it's not as terribly taxing as Syberia. But oh my god, this game was still too slow for me. Unskippable dialogue and everyone sounds American. In Paris.

Contra: The Alien Wars (Game Boy)

A port of the SNES version.

It has 5 levels instead of 6. They cut Level 4, the one with the hover bikes and riding missiles.

It's missing a few mid bosses.

You can't switch between 2 weapons and the smart bomb is used with the Select Button.

It has the 2 overhead levels without the Mode 7 but it's more in tune with the overhead levels featured in the other games in the series and it has the same objective as the original where you have to destroy all the targets before you fight the boss except you can't choose your location when the level starts

Despite the limitations, this was still pretty fun to play and worth checking out for Contra fans.

Was not expecting the sudden Silent Hill transition by the end. It started out as a mystery game and then it started devolving slowly.

Omega Strike (PC)

Generic 2d Shooter that was pretty nice for its tight controls. Albeit, its difficulty mainly stems from unfair mechanics (checkpoint starvation mainly). It was still pretty neat. Music was annoyingly grating after awhile.

It's good if you like that style of game. Less compelling story than Heavy Rain was in my opinion and way less interactive. Was way more interesting in concept and ideas than in its execution of said ideas. Strongest aspect was definitely its presentation, graphics, acting, and the chapters with more open gameplay were really fun (there's a stealth chapter way late in the game that's especially cool). As one more little aside, the game strangely reminded me of Murdered: Soul Suspect in a few ways.

I started playing this in like 2011, and I have no clue why I stopped. I assumed that I would have to replay it from the beginning, but it must have a cloud save for Steam as I was able to continue right toward the end of the third act/chapter.

Don't bother with the original.

If you have a PS3 or 360, there's an HD collection for the second, third, and fourth games (Silent Assassin, Contracts, and Blood Money). If not, then they are available for PC and PS2. All are worth playing, and Blood Money is often regarded by stealth fans as a must-play game.

The fifth game, Absolution, breaks from the typical formula both in gameplay and mission structure. Some people like that and some don't. It undeniably has excellent production values. I'm sure you can get that cheap for PC, 360, and PS3.

The sixth game, simply called Hitman, came out in episodic content, which was derided by many fans. Anyone who got past that was in for a real treat though.

To specifically answer your question, if you are willing to start from Silent Assassin, that's great, but if you to start with one of its best offerings, go with Blood Money. There is no overarching plot between games that you need to worry about.

Thanks for the Hitman order suggesst. I recall I did start with the first game hack then and was extremely turned off by it hence my aversion. I assumed every Hitman was like that.

Red Dead Redemption (PS3)

Late to the party, started it a few times but quit early every time. Now I stuck with it though. Amazing game (as expected). Still, open world and therefore not my absolute favorite game gameplay-wise, but I will remember the story, characters and setting for a long time, definitely.

Now onto Castlevania: Symphony of the Night which I've been really looking forward to playing!

It is the third of four games Shad gave me for Steam Secret Santa '16 that I have beaten. I meant to get them all done last year, but I suck.

I finished in 5:22:45 with 87% completion. I intend to find these discs that I only found one or two of.

Was alright as well. Saw it on sale and I figured the Batman one wasn't that bad so I decided to check it out. Pretty similar experience to the Batman one in the sense that I'm not a big fan of the game mechanics and frame rate drops, but was still a decent story. Granted I think they went a bit overboard with the forced humor in this one.
