Streets of Rage 2 (Game Gear)

Max was cut due to limitations. Axle, Blaze and Skate are the only playable characters.

This was a pretty impressive port. The hit detection was a lot better compared to the first game. You can pummel in a grab this time that was sorely missing from the first game.

6 Stages only.

There's an exclusive boss in this version: A boss that totally resembled the Predator complete with a lock on laser. Why this is a thing I don't even know.

Axle, Blaze and Skate even have special moves that are exclusive to this version that you can use for a limited time. Hold Button 1 for a few seconds and release. Axel unleashes a fireball, Blaze does a kick that produces a tornado and Skate goes into a ball form and bounces around all over the screen.

Your other special moves don't even drain your health bar (the ones that were the A Button for the Genesis version).They were relegated with the motion of holding forward and pressing Button 1 and 2.

Most of the OST in this version was also acceptable to listen to.

A bit fast and loose with the series formula. Both music and level design are kind of scattered and random versions of the more famous entries, and I don't think they realized that you can beat all but the final boss by activating Burning Mode. And this was the higher difficulty. Still not completely worthless. It was satisfying mastering that last little bit and searching for collectibles in the somewhat less linear levels.

This was pretty fun. Some of the later levels got annoying, some of the allies weren't very helpful, and the final boss was of "WILL YOU FUCKING DIE ALREADY?!?!" proportions, even by Kirby game standards. But overall it was fun, a bit darker than most Kirby games, and there was no redemption and/or "we were being manipulated by a dark force" for the villains like there is in most Kirby games, which was different and neat.

Also, I never powered the console down while playing it, only put it in sleep, so I played through the game in one go so to say. I died... I wanna say 7 times in the entire game? Three of those times was on the penultimate boss and once was on the final boss. I had over 70 lives by the end.

Some of the bosses have laughably unfair designs (nearly half of my deaths came from the final level), but it was a solid homage to the Genesis Sonic games.

I did not expect for the game to have an emphasis on story and feature such long cutscenes. I would have skipped them all, but they unfortunately established early on that you were going to be given context for why you were on X level, and I couldn't choose to not understand what I was doing.

Barney's Hide & Seek Game (Genesis)

This game did it's job for younger gamers in mind.
You play as Barney to look for his friends and presents.
The game even plays itself if you let Barney go idle.

Bloodborne - The Old Hunters DLC

I had already beaten the main game a long time ago, but I had never played the DLC that also came with the package I bought. Best DLC ever. The bosses were mostly incredible, the atmosphere is the real deal and overall it just feels like Bloodborne should be played with this included everytime (I feel less like that with DS3's DLC for example). Tons of awesome new weapons. Highlight was beating the Orphan with no vials left and both of us needing one more hit to win. That was so intense. Made up for all the times in any game where I died to a boss when I needed to hit just once more for the kill!

Why Am I Dead at Sea for PC

I bought it during the Steam 2015 Winter Sale or 2016 Summer Sale. I like to look at the activity to see what my friends buy and wishlist to see if I would be interested in those games and when I saw digi buy this, I looked into it and bought it as well for like $2.

For a game with limited gameplay and a linear story, you had a lot of freedom within each chapter, which I found to be refreshing. I wouldn't call its conclusion anticlimactic and I wasn't expecting for the game to reach its ceiling, but it didn't feel fulfilling. Still, it is a great game!

Epistory - Typing Chronicles for PC

I had adaptive difficulty all game long, but in the final danger zone, or whatever you want to call it, of the game, I switched to easy because I was tired of losing like 10 minutes of progress after the third failure.

Little Samson (NES)

This is a very good action/platformer that was released near the end of the NES's lifespan. I'm finally glad I took the time to play this one. I know I'm not the only one who would of loved to own the cart to this one if it didn't cost a fortune.

You play as Little Samson who has to stop a dark prince from taking over the kingdom.

You also play as 3 other characters that have their own abilities and can switch between them whenever you want from the pause menu.

Little Samson: He shoots bells and can climb any surface (walls and ceilings)

Kikira the Dragon: She can shoot fireballs, can charge up stronger fireballs, has limited flight and can never slip on ice.

Gamm the Rock Lord: A golem who can extend his arm in 4 directions (up, down, left, right), is very strong but with a low jump and is immune to spikes.

K.O. the Enchanted Beast: A mouse that can move really fast and has the same climbing abilities as Little Samson except he's smaller and he can lay down up to 3 bombs depending on your position.

Ellipsis for PC

Excellent single-screen twitch/reaction...puzzler? I'm not sure how to describe the genre here. I didn't expect to beat this as I kept getting my ass handed to me on several occasions. I kept at it and finally beat it! There's like 150-200 levels, and there's no way that I am going to gain maximum stars on each level.

I recommend it for anyone who wants some N64 Nostalgia however short the game was. The secret levels were awesome. I never expected anyone to actually make a Terranigma reference at that. Who even knows that game exists?

Devil May Cry HD(PS3)
I like it. It's not a great representative of its genre but the design is pretty good for a pioneer. Camera needs work, at least during combat. A level select would be nice too. It does have a lovely survival horror atmosphere and oh lord the cutscenes.
