Geez, it's been forever since I posted here, I've been watching some newer anime, first up was S2 of Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans, I liked it up until the last 10 or so episodes where it took a nosedive and crashed into the ground. Speaking of nosedives after that I saw Devilman Crybaby after doing my best to get over it's "art style" (and lack of budget) and found it to be an interesting premise.. until the last few episodes where I called out pretty much every twist that happened because it was practically signposted, that combined with that excuse of an "ending" didn't best impress me and left me with a bitter aftertaste, not good.

Oh and I also saw B- The beginning and it wasn't bad but I hope they continue it eventually given how it ended

since the beginning I've always had this weird feeling about the guardians. And the fact that Momonga (Ains) doesn't act as nefarious/evil/lordly as they expect him too. Since he has the mind of a human.

And Albedo's words at the end of the latest episode spook me. "Still, I don't understand. Ains Oal Gown... This is ridiculous." Since he is doing so much for a human girl.

I at least thought he was going to use magic to make her lose her humanity and become something else.

Huh, they are making another boogiepop show. I'm not really sure if its a reboot or what exactly. Didn't expect to see anything boogiepop ever again though. One of the light novels that started LNs being a thing. Hopefully its good. I imagine it'll be significantly easier to follow than the original anime adaptation since that just took a middle section of the story and gave you no context and was non linear.

I can't figure out what to watch. I WANT to watch a good war anime but there are very few war anime and I've pretty much seen them all. Still strange to me that most of them are mecha. Pretty surprised there isn't more stuff like kingdom.

As far as I'm aware, the actual light novels aren't THAT hard to follow. The anime just did something it probably shouldn't have and didn't start at the beginning and didn't even tell you that it wasn't the beginning combined with all the characters looking nearly identical and telling what it did show out of order. I'm led to believe that its much easier to follow it all in the novels since you get to start from the beginning and it doesn't really matter what people look like in a book.

On the other hand I can't help but feel like that confusion and the anime being more or less like Lain hardmode was a lot of what was great about it. This new adaptation is being handled by the one punch man director and looks to have lost the eerie surreal atmosphere in favor of a cleaner look with more action based on the PV. I'm a little worried about that. The PV itself looked pretty good though.

I saw that another manga I like got an English release; "Again!!" (I think it was recommended here in one of the earlier topics; I can't remember.) I really like it, but I thought it was a pretty random choice. But apparently the author is also the creator of Yuri on Ice, so they might be trying capitalize on that.

Basically, guy is about to graduate high school without doing anything memorable or making any friends. When walking through the school, he runs into a girl from his class, and they both fall down the stairs. When he wakes up, he's three years in the past, on his first day of high school. He sees a girl recruiting people for the cheering squad; she had originally caught his eye before but he passed it up. He winds up joining the club and trying gradually change his future and himself. Meanwhile the girl from the stairs is also in the same predicament as him, but things don't seem to be going nearly as well for her..

Eh, not really.

Batoto was auctioned off and it was bought by a second-rate scanripper site. I think it was mangapanda or something? Not sure. In any case, there's really no need to go to batoto anymore.

All the scanlators upload directly (aside from their own sites) to mangadex now. It's basically batoto 2.0. Some of the original batoto staff have been transferring all the old archived manga on there over the last few months.

Man, this is getting depressing. I really can't find anything I want to watch. I find myself always coming back to the same few searches and anime just doesn't make them often enough. I guess maybe I'll rewatch something. I know this is just how it goes but every time there are just fewer and fewer anime I don't know about and finding one that fits whatever I happen to be looking for is rarer and rarer. At least I got bloodborne for free so I have something good on the video game front. So far I prefer souls and nioh but its still fun.

455 completed with only like 3 movies. 143.4 days. Of course, I've been going through each season looking for anything I've missed and I've come across several anime I could have sworn I marked down that were listed as unwatched so realistically that number should be a little bit higher. I also don't generally put dropped for anime I drop in an episode or two which has sadly been quite a lot.

It's not like theres nothing thats good that I haven't seen. It's just not what I want to watch. Like right now I could really go for some good down to earth action, preferably seinen with no superpowers. Something like samurai champloo where there is a lot of action with good fight choreography. The thing is, they just don't really make that. We can see great sakuga in something like one punch man but the choreography is nonsensical (which is fine for that show cause its a comedy). Theres a small handful of shows that have both good animation and fight choreography (several of which are pretty meh outside of those parts like birdy the mighty) and I'm already aware of them cause I've spent hours and hours on like 20 different occasions at this point searching for it and I just have this craving burning desire to see something like that but new and it doesn't exist. Thats just what I want to watch at the moment though. I also have a similar issue with war anime and most of all adventure anime. /rant

I'm sure I'll be in the mood for something else before too long. Hopefully by the time the new season finishes airing although theres not many 1 cour anime this season I'm looking forward too. There's overlord S2, citrus, and maybe violet evergarden. Oh right, magus bride finishes this season as well. I guess thats a few.

The judging is based on feeling there is nothing to watch. I also haven't watched a huge number of anime, but I know I can pick up a good show I haven't seen at any time.

455 a lot higher that I expected you to say, so I get what you mean @YoukaiSlayer in there being shows I watch, but not what you want to watch. I feel like there are good shows this season, but not in the down to earth seinen genre.

New Overlord episode! It's great. Spoilers: I was not disappointed when Sebas wipes out those 4 "strong" six arms members. Hilarious. When Tuare was getting up there was a weird vibe there, the way they showed the bottom half of the face only.

I liked how we got to see the different members in action, being the monsters they are.

Also it's really cool they showed Entoma fight. But it's strange Evileye was stronger than her. But I don't know the strength rankings and Entoma is probably pretty low.

And finally the explanation for the clip from the OP. The Ains is gonna fight with Demiurge to earn brownie points with adventurer association. I would be scared though lol, Demiurge is no joke. But it is part of the plan so unless Demiurge pulls something it should be scripted for him to lose.

Also, I have a lot of things on my lists of things to watch that are "something about this anime interested me; I don't remember what, and it's more fun if I go into it when I don't recall what interested me".

When you've seen a good chunk of anime it does get a lot harder to find things that you actually want to watch, my completed list is at the 500+ point now and since I don't watch stuff that's airing until it finishes airing I tend to just re-watch a lot of stuff instead or try to find something older that I haven't seen.

For example I finished watching Claymore a few days ago because I hadn't seen it before because it looked like it might be interesting (it was), right now I'm watching Gungrave for the first time too- again because I thought it looked interesting- both of these shows are over 10 years old now which is something that I've noticed happening more recently with me watching older stuff because most things from around 2009 onwards I've already seen (the things that I want to see anyway)

For me it's like I get caught up really wanting to watch something specific. Theres a few dozen anime that I will at some point most likely enjoy (like rakugo) that are just not at all what I want to watch now and I just feel like nothing else except what I'm craving will be worth watching but what I'm craving either doesn't exist or I've already seen what there is.

I almost feel bad for feeling this way since honestly the last few months have been really good for anime. I watched all of monogatari series, made in abyss, land of the lustrous, and the new kino's journey which were all fantastic. I know a lot of people feel like they don't have nearly enough time to watch what already comes out but I could go for about 6 episodes a day every day of great shows. Hopefully it reaches that level eventually. At 13 weeks a season that'd be about 45 great shows per season. That'd be nice.

Games are worse sadly. The only games whose gameplay I enjoyed in the last year are Nioh and now bloodborne and I play a shit load of games. It's amazing to think that I played more halo during halo 2 and 3 than I've watched anime in my whole life. I'm probably getting close with league at this point as well even though I don't really like the game.

Seems any studio with enough money to do anything cool is content to make the same meh games over and over or switch to mobile.

I'm recently annoyed that even after nearly a decade there isn't a single proper rip off or sequel to mount and blade warband and the damn dev studio is content to give zero information on when the sequel is coming. It was supposed to release 2016. Just one of many great game concepts that haven't gotten a good execution. Instead of filling that niche lets just go bankrupt trying to chase after fortnite's fortune. Sigh.

I do and boy is concentration medication great, it makes work a breeze and turns that "I dont want to work" into "I have to work now whats the most effective way of doing my job?" Makes hobbies easier too because I waste a lot of time on menial tasks and doing nothing.

I think it's a consequence of getting older, and problems of the digital age. We're less passionate than our younger selves, and more finicky with how our interests are piqued. The thing with the digital age, is that we put importance on having our attention appeased as much as possible even if it isn't as rewarding.

I've been waiting a long while for 0 too, I highly enjoyed the original and have no doubt I'll enjoy 0 too.
Next season is just looking great in general imo, there's:
-The continuation of Seven deadly sins S2
-Hero academia S3
-Tokyo ghoul S3 (S2 disappointed me but I still kinda like the series)
-High School DxD S4 (For those "close the curtain" moments)
-New Full Metal Panic! (I've been waiting a loooooooooong time for this one)
-Hitori no Shita: The Outcast S2 (The first season was fun enough)
-Persona 5 the animation (eh, I liked the original P4 anime well enough to give this new one a try)

So yeah, some good stuff I think, also it's nice to see anime's getting second (or more!) seasons, I'm sure that many of my anime-only watching brethren know the pain of single-season only anime's that don't finish the story all too well :(

I believe so yes, I heard that S2 changed quite a bit from the manga and that this new one is going to try and be more faithful to the manga this time around
