Teferi and Karn are seeing Modern play now; some decks are playing Teferi over JTMS. Untapping two lands is a big game in UW it turns out!

Its too slow to tap out for, but hes really more of a 3-drop that you need 5 mana to play. Plus, for perhaps the first time, traditional UW control is a real deck in Modern, even before Teferi got printed.

The Sphinx's Rev decks weren't that bad when they were in standard. I thought about maybe just dropping the money on U/W control in standard online, but it's still like 300 tix for the deck, and my Dominaria drafts have not yielded any of the money cards.

Just going to have to stick to Pauper for now.

i feel like magic's greatest asset- its interactivity- is also one of its most frustrating aspects when playing online

one thing hearthstone did well is its turn structure

being able to look away from the screen for 30 to 45 seconds while your opponent does their thing feels okay. at least, it's better than having to constantly pay attention during your opponent's turn- and ask permission to continue during your own

Just found out a previous customer of mine died today. Still don't know how. We weren't "close" per se but we were pretty friendly, we even 2HG'd once.

I'm... I don't even know, man. I want to do something, but what? My first instinct is a GoFundMe or having some sort of charity tournament to raise funds for his family's funeral, but... I don't know.

When I read Alex's cards when the finalists were first revealed I was scratching my head over how he was chosen.

Reading judge's commentary on his cards I'm even MORE confused at how he made the Top 8.

I'm pretty confused on how a lot of these people made it. Not that I didn't expect them to be critical of the designs, but a lot of them seem overly negative.

Templating seems terrible for most of them, but some of the designs are quite innovative. I particularly like Alexs blade counter soldier dude.

I don't think that card is very innovative. They've done plenty of one time use designs like that. It's a fine card, but not really new.

There were a couple of instances of people clearly misreading the cards, which is a bit awkward. I thought that WB planeswalker who exiled cards until leaving the battlefield was rather innovative, but Ethan definitely missed the trigger when reviewing. Though, based on Garruk Relentless, I'm almost certain the template would have that ability listed first and not last.

I also thought MDT was sometimes a bit harsh on cards that were just miscosted. If the gameplay is fundamentally dangerous, I can definitely see that. But I don't think it's really that significant for a designer to push a card to 2 mana when it would be more reasonable at 3.

MTGO Dominaria redemptions start soon, so that should help drive the prices down a bit. Right now, it'd cost around $125 to redeem a full set. In paper, Karn + Teferi + Lyra is already more than $125, so that won't stick.

Speaking of doing the challenges, I plan to keep doing them since they're kinda fun. This one seems pretty tough. The rule that all eight cards have to mechanically care about the creature type is surprisingly hard. In modern sets with light tribal stuff, Wizards likes to use mechanical synergy rather than referencing the tribe directly, but that doesn't work here.

Hey I know you don't like Lorwyn but it's not that bad.

I've never actually drafted the set before, so it was interesting. Ended up going 2-1 with a mono-white Kithkin deck. Cloudgoat Ranger is as good as advertised.

Oh apparently GDS3 is moving ahead already. Is it that they already ran the whole elimination part? Probably won't bother trying to play along in that case.

Today was definitely a horrible result. (Haven't actually gotten all the way through).

My 'pet' choice was Mutant, since there are a good number but it's never been supported before.

The Rogue's Gallery theme was marked as the best and was pretty obviously so, so no real complaints about the challenge.

Insects > Rogues > Samurai >>> Imp > Oozes > Aetherborn >>> Horror > Shaman

Top 3 I would be really excited to build decks around, next 3 were okay but didnt excite me, bottom two sucked.
