Did some number crunching on the average placement of series in the magazine for 2018, some interesting results! Tomatoy takes up the staple position of the gag manga that's almost always dead last in the magazine, but it's a neat point of comparison.

Nah I kept it as raw as possible. Only discounted one-shots as placements.

It doesn't really change anything though, especially if it's consistent. And technically by 2018 I'm actually including Dec 2017 since that's when the #1 2018 issue comes out.

Fate was a mistake.

Like my thoughts on ubw is basically culminated in one scene where I tnink shirou is fighting lancer and they start spouting stuff in like some sort of circular back and forth and the dialogue is so bad and the way they interrupt the action so awful that I thought about dropping the show there despite I think it being a later ones.

I don't even dislike Fate. I just consider it the weakest of the three main things Nasu has done (KnK/Tsukihime/Fate)

I'd like Fate a lot it it handled the concept well enough. I find it hard to care about most of the plot lines. A good amount of characters are boring. Most of the historical characters are handled incredibly bad.

The only Fate that I have no complaints about and completely and utterly love is Strange Fake. Strange Fake is just so good.

I think basically all Fate other than the core stuff is bad, though I've only seen a few episodes of Last Encore.

All the Ufo Fate stuff is easily some of the best anime around, even if UBW was weaker than Zero. If it weren't for Ufo I might consider the core stuff bad, too. I'm imagining Zero being the exact same anime except by Deen and I would probably not like it even without the comparison.

And yeah, Kara no Kyoukai still a literal masterpiece of a series.

If Nasu gets even 1% of the cut Grand Order makes theres no way he cant afford bigger staff and stuff. Remake was announced 10 years ago and hasnt had any sort of new update or anything in 2-3 years. They werent even changing all that much with it aside from like a new route for Regs waifu and updated designs which shouldnt take 10 years. It doesnt even have an estimate for when it will come out

I mean, he's the only writer for it so hiring more people wouldn't make a difference.

If he does literally all of it I could maybe see why it has taken forever even though all we know is a route is being added for a single character. I started watching Hyouka yesterday and so far (seven episodes in) it hasn't been great for me. The characters are decent but they're investigating such mundane mysteries (one whole episode sitting around a table solving the mystery of a teacher making a mistake how riveting) and I never feel like they give enough information for the viewer to realistically solve them in advance. I guess that's not really their fault since the first big one was centered on Japanese/English translation wordplay that I could never know but still. I'm finding the wait for the final revelation boring more than anything.

Can anyone tell me if the content is going to pick up at all? With better mysteries and a slight change in their execution I think Hyouka could be something I really like despite the rocky start.

I didnt really care for Hyouka so if youre not feeling it now you probably wont ever. Theres an arc or two later on thats not bad, but there are a lot of mundane mysteries because Chitanda is the kind of person who would spend a week wondering why somebody didnt tie their shoes one day

it's probably not for you, all the mysteries are mundane/inane/pointless so that's not going to change

Sat down and finally went through Kaiji Season 2. Hail to the King. Still the best.

Only complaint, the Pachinko game went on too long. You just can't make Pachinko interesting.

I just picked up the manga because I want more. Heard there's a badass poker game after Mahjong, and some other game. I'm hype. Although I would put the Bog at the bottom so far. Pachinko is so hard to make interesting.
