Even beyond that, though, the characters and slice-of-life moments were all pretty good on their own too. Uma Musume: Pretty Derby This is fine for what it is but it doesn't really make it as a sports type show and also doesn't make it as like a cute girl type show either. There's nothing really bad about it but I find it hard to root for anyone except like "she's the main character" or something. A show I don't regret watching but one where I probably could have lived without. Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi I really like this show right now. It's kind of a cross between Natsume's book of friends and Kamisama Kiss in terms of like the feel of the show. It has the kind of same easy going feeling as Natsume, but with some of the more the dramatic flair Kamisama Kiss had. It's unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view) not a romance and instead focuses on how Aoi tries to solve problems using her cooking... basically. Really glad this one barely snuck by the one episode drop. Comic Girls Kind of mixed on this one. I mean I really have to compare this to like New Game with maybe some Slow Start or Hinako Note tossed in there. While I like the characters, I don't feel like their interactions are nearly as good as they are in Slow Start. And the overall "drawing comics thing" is not nearly as good as how they handle Aoba trying to be a game artist. I don't think this is a bad show by any means but this is a pretty cluttered genre and much better offerings have aired with stronger showings in any given niche. This is like "pretty good" in all areas in a genre that really needs to excel at something to stand out. Megalo Box Stylistically this is one of the best looking shows of the season. Maybe not best looking because we have some pretty big hitters in that department, but it's close. The music is wonderful and you can't help but get behind an underdog. I think my complaint would be how they just introduced a certain character in the middle of the show but we'll see how things develop. This remains to be the best new IP that has aired this season. Hinamatsuri This is the best comedy of the season. I find that how the show plays off each characters personal flaws for the comedy is pretty good. Amanchu! Advance I really like this for the atmosphere and I think Pikari is a fun character. However, some of the recent episodes have been... weird where it like feels like a different show. My Hero Academia S3 I think that this show got off to a slower start than it really needed to, I don't think that would be much of an issue most of the time but this season is packed with great shows. Right now though the show is really starting to come into its own. I am getting somewhat annoyed at Deku though as he seems to be going through shounen main character syndrome for way too long. Gun Gale Online I think the gun play segments and the overall character of Llenn and such is great. The narrative of how she finds the game as an outlet, while simple, is important imo. Now, as for like Pitoh and how she factors in. When I went into it without stakes I was like "I'm not sure just winning an online game tournament is enough" and then I get the thing with Pitoh and it's like "this is dumb" but in a way I do feel like the show needs something like it. I wish it was like implemented into the show better. This is actually probably a 12 episode issue more than anything else. KokoroAkechi 05/27/18 7:07:30 PM #305:	Food Wars Season 3-2 IMO, the start of Shokugeki during the promotion exam arc is the best part of it until it like goes on forever. This is the only show where I have actively followed the manga. This is where Erina really starts to shine as best girl of the show. Golden Kamuy This is a pretty good show with some questionable animation choices. Sugimoto is a fucking badass though. However, I do find that there is seemingly very little progress being made to achieve their goals overall. Steins;Gate 0 This is hands down the best show of the season. However, I will say that it's still lacking that like scifi/thriller thing that the original had going for it... so far. I guess they like kind of flipped how they were doing things because this version is clearly cashing in on emotional tugs early on because of viewer hindsight. A smart move. But now that we are veering into the meat of the series I think things are going to start to change. Last Period This show is pretty dumb. Like the show itself even knows how dumb it is. Still it's pretty entertaining. I like the Wiseman and how they appear doing their routine. I also like the ED. Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory Not much to say here except that this is a really good show. It looks great and I think it was worth the wait. Hisone to Maso-tan I don't quite like this as much as I did at the start. I think the whole thing with the dragon that stayed as a fighter was too drawn out and the entire thing about the general and the connection between the dragons and stuff is just so poorly put into the show, because it's like not. They just mention stuff like it in passing at the end of each episode. High School DxD Hero I think some of the non fight parts of this season have been very good. Rossweisse is like a top tier girl. But I do feel like the action fights have been kind of meh right now. Grancrest Senki On paper this is a pretty good story overall. Like it plays out similar to a dynasty warriors game or something. But in execution this is one of the most boring shows I'm watching. Everyone is basically cut down to their most basic parts which leaves any changes to be uncharacteristic and any real way for something to be exciting eliminated. Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card This is one of the best looking shows airing right now. A lot of the battles for the cards are pretty creative and the show is a nice break from all of these edgy magical girl shows that have been all the rage. Darling in the FranXX So right now I'm leaning towards this being a bad show. They just spent way too long on character development when they needed to be focusing on the bigger story elements. Not only that but the characters are not really that interesting (or likable) for that matter either. Action scenes are just okay and they don't even really spend a lot of time with world building. KLK had better characters with personalities you could attach it. Story was heavily integrated with character goals. The fights were better. I'm glad I finished it, too. A lot of parts still bothered me (Minko was always the absolute worst) but I'm enough of a fan for this type of story that it managed to pull me in regardless. His power can be used in interesting ways, but he still sorta feels like hes just tagging along Koichi - neat how his power keeps transforming and he feels like the actual main character. Okuyasu - man this guy just doesnt get to really do anything. Still waiting for him to have an awesome moment. His best episode was him eating Tonios food. Rohan - has a cool power, but I dont really think too much of him yet. Joseph - still pretty funny and I guess now hes babysitting an invisible baby for who knows how long since he keeps showing up in the background with it every now and then Jotaro - I feel like hes more likable in this than part 3 even though hes probably the same. Kira - best villain of the part, but its not like he has any actual competition there. Hes weird as fuck and I havent really gotten to what makes him tick yet. The Alliance fleet is about to get destroyed, but they have clearly shown for a few episodes that this is but a token resistance, while Yang's forces continue to grow. The Iselorhn capture is also something that's been shown as inevitable. There's been very few plot twists, mostly because the whole though process gets shown from both sides. The biggest twist so far being how the Alliance was defeated in the first place. But even then machinations were hinted at to protect the Kaiser from himself. Looks like Julian won't be the only young gun making a name for himself in the second half of this show. The premise was good and the stuff based around that was generally entertaining. All the jokes and euphemisms about the sister eating her brother's meat were fun times (especially since the series somehow never implied any sexual attraction between the two). But other than the main two characters I wasn't really that interested in the cast. The dad is pretty annoying and sticks around way too long (quite often series like this would have characters like him killed in the second chapter or something, but this one...doesn't). There isn't much focus on the rest of the cast - Maria was pretty cool, but I think she would've benefited from more screentime. The writing and flow of the series wasn't that good. Things kinda felt unplanned sometimes. There was a pretty excellent plot twist at one point, but it wasn't delivered with the impact it should've had. Whole series kinda had the feeling of being amateurish.
