Jiro looks absolutely amazing, might be one of my favorite character shots in all of the volumes, and then everyone else is parodying a shitty slice of life scene since it was a slice of life arc. Like just look at Tokoyami. He finally gets another cover and they fuckin do this, I'm laughing so hard

Man they continue to do it. The cliche "he's boxing, falls behind, gets inspired and wins" but made it fuckin great with everyone surrounding the fight. The American dude was so dumb though he got one line and it was so bad lmao. But Yuri actually finally respecting him is badass, and Nanbu doing that to himself. Damn.

I just finished watching Sagrada Reset. Usually I would just make a quick post about my thoughts, but this anime was a neat experience so I want to delve a bit deeper into it. MAL tells me the only person on my friends list who has seen it is Wicklebee, who I haven't seen in here in awhile, so I'll keep this spoiler-free. I'm not sure that anyone will even care to read about me examining why I liked something but oh well.

Anyway, Sagrada Reset definitely isn't perfect. Characters emoted like robots at times and there's a whole lot of sitting around talking, considering, and philosophizing. It's easy for me to imagine a person watching this and being bored to tears. However, the show's premise is of a town where people have fantastic abilities that the main characters interact with to solve problems, and I found the way those abilities came together to be constantly fascinating.

I feel that most stories like this would run into several pitfalls, like pulling new abilities out of thin air to solve things or only having one easy-mode solution that it used over and over. I never felt like Sagrada Reset came anywhere near making those mistakes, however. Every person's ability was carefully set up and used within its own limitations, and the plot was capable enough not to back itself into a corner where BS was needed to fix things. Everything always came together in a clever way and I found it enthralling to consider all the abilities available and try to figure out how those tools could be used to solve the various problems. I'll admit that the characters were rough at first, but the anime still managed to hook me until I started caring about them too. It isn't an anime for everyone but obviously the right kind of person can really enjoy it.

Hell, a lot of the originally prominent side characters have been ignored for a long time. I can't remember the last time Iida or Ochako did something.

I don't really have feelings towards Supernatural Battles, but it seems more forgettable than disparaged. Me and MANY others consider Kill La Kill to be a fantastic series. It's been on and off my Top 10 over the years.

Yea MHA rotates the side characters around a lot, probably Kirishima is the only side one that's been consistently prominent. The example I go to usually is Tsuyu, who used to be THE girl people went to for the series and she's really barely been in later on.

Considering how much I loved the first season, Amanchu Advance might just be the worst follow-up I've ever seen. It's been dangerously close to earning that dubious honor for awhile now but this latest episode has settled it. It wasn't so bad at first, just kind of aimless, but then there was that terrible three-episode dream arc. Supernatural episodes barely worked in Aria, they don't belong in Amanchu at all. And now Pikari's love interest is a crappy little boy and that's the final nail in the coffin. What a letdown.

I just finished Saga of Tanya the Evil (another anime I felt I had to watch based off its awesome title). My first comment is, like... not everything needs to be an isekai. The story would barely need to change if Tanya wasn't the reincarnation of a Japanese salaryman, so why bother shoehorning that into an otherwise unique character idea and setting? Just have her be an ruthless little girl who hates god and the whole anime would be better for it.

That one nitpick aside, I enjoyed it! Tanya was a fun character and I liked watching her crush her enemies even as she simply tried to find a peaceful life. This comparison isn't perfect, but I also got an Ace Combat vibe from this with all the aerial battles and the main unit steadily gaining a frightening reputation by being the linchpin of so many operations.
