He apparently was able to use it because he's been doing martial arts for over 100 years or something. He is able to dodge a few hits from a really strong dude but is still eliminated from the tournament within the same chapter.

He seems to get a lot of hate; at first I thought it was one of those "love to hate him" things, but a lot of people really don't like him at all. I mean, he is kind of a pessimistic asshole, but he tries his best. And he's a Man of Culture!

I kinda get why people dislike him but I don't get the outright hate. He's funny at least, and he's used pretty sparingly. If he was a character who showed up more often, I could see his schtick getting old a lot faster.

Love this channel, and I'm always impressed with their work.

I really like that they also incorporate spots of japanese history and culture whenever they do katanas.

I'm really glad that they finally did Kenshin's Reverse-edge sword, and that they went all out and put so much care and amazing craftsmanship into such an iconic weapon.

Are the two Little Witch Academia short films worth watching if you've already seen the series? Started the first one but wasn't feeling it after the first 5-10 minutes, which included a version of the Shiny Chariot stunts show (something that I recall the series later doing better)

Most people like to say that the OVAs are better than the actual series. I don't really agree with that, but the animation is really good. The first one has a few contradictions with the series itself (the way that the Shiny Rod is found is different).

TBH outside of those inconsistencies, I could easily see those OVAs being individual episodes in the series (adjusted for time, at least). My biggest issue with the series was that some episodes dragged a bit.

Im caught up with Hero Academia and Food Wars.

Dont feel like starting AOT S3 just yet.

I need to finish Darling in the Franxx and Devilman but I fear my little heart is going to be broken if I do.

I keep seeing the LA Death Note listed in my recommendations. I kinda want to avoid it on principle, but I'm somewhat curious if it's any even passably good (or, conversely, humorously bad). Anybody bothered to watch it?

Been catching up on Seven Deadly Sins manga. I gotta say I've never been a fan of Gowther, the way he messes with people's heads with no hesitation or remorse. But I always did kind of like Derriere. She never seemed particularly evil or nasty, especially when she was avenging the ruthless slaughter of demon children. So I'm glad to see more depth there.

Re-finished the main part of the Sasuke Retrieval arc last night (I think I've only watched maybe an episode or two a night at most over the past few weeks)

Ranking the fights:
Tayuya > Ukon & Sakon > Kimimaro p3 > Jirobu > Kidomaru > Kimimaro p1 & 2

Ranking the characters themselves:
Ukon & Sakon > Tayuya > Kidomaru > Jirobu > Kimimaro (lame design, lame backstory, kinda neat powers and curse form)

Also the arc starts really great but then just starts to fall apart when Kimimaro is introduced. We wind up with tons of flashbacks and backstory -- including some information which messes up the earlier timeline -- on a character who doesn't really matter because he's introduced too late into the arc and barely plays a role. '

That just leaves the last fight of the arc. Was trying to find information about the next major arc -- because the the last thing I really remember was some guy with an umbrella burying people alive and some other throwaway stories -- but it looks like it's just a lot of filler arcs after this.

idk, bad singing is so often parodied that it's probably pretty easy to pick it up. And if you play up a bad tendency, it's not like you're a less convincing bad singer.

That was terrible, in all the right ways.

I hate coming across large groups of people with opinions so terrible that you feel dumber just from being exposed to them. I was reading a reddit thread on Domestic na Kanojo, and nearly everyone was shitting on it for ridiculous reasons. Some straight up factually incorrect, which makes me think they weren't even talking about the same series (they mentioned a dumb gyaru when there's nothing close to a gyaru in the series).

They badmouthed more or less everything by Kei Sasuga, Seo Kouji, and Im Dal Young - at which point I confirmed their opinions were shit, because Unbalance x Unbalance is a freaking masterpiece (before the hiatus, at least).

Don't know much about Kei Sasuga's works, but I can understand where they're coming from when it comes to Seo Kouji and Im Dal Young.

Both of them did had promising starts to their careers, with Kouji's Suzuka and Cross Over, and Dal Young's Unbalance x Unbalance. But all their manga after that have been, frankly, rather shit. Full of pointless drama, needless conflicts and misunderstandings that could have been easily resolved by the characters acting like the adults that they are supposed to be and talking things out.

Heck, you said it yourself that Unbalance x2 started going downhill in the middle of its run.

I tried to read their later works but I just couldn't get into them. Freezing is such a big expositional snorefest most of the time, and when there are action scenes they ALWAYS get interrupted in the middle by characters shouting out even more exposition.

And I can't even remember what happens in Kimi no Iru Machi it had such a low impact, but I do remember parts where I got frustrated at the characters just plainly refusing to talk it out and fix their problems.

Damn! Just found out that the singers for One Punch Man's OP were all between 49 to 56 years old!

They look hella good for their age! Especially Masami Okui (the woman singer), she definitely doesn't look 49. She looks like she's late 20s-early 30s at least.

Unbalance did start to go downhill, but it was closer to the end; it was really good for a really long time. Anyway, they said it was crap from the beginning.

I haven't actually read much by the others to be honest, although many of them I intend to. I did like the Suzuka anime; I don't know how different the manga is.

Loving Scrapped Princess, the concept is that there's a cursed princess who was foretold to be the poison that will destroy the world so she's one the run with her brother and sister.

It's so much like "Fire Emblem the anime"

Yeah scrapped princess is one of the better fantasy anime out there. Doesn't do anything super revolutionary but executes on the fantasy concept pretty well and looks good doing it (especially at the time).

I understand that people didn't really like this Arc in the manga so they're trying to speed it up. I guess the way they chose to do that as through flashbacks.

It's looking a little bit dead in here so let's spice things up and encourage some discussion that everyone can take part in.

Why doesn't everyone attempt to put together a top 10 list, so that we can see what everyone thinks are the best anime.

If you find it hard to choose just 10 then try doing a top 20. You don't have to order them individually, for example I make my tiers in groups of 10.

I will post my list tonight when I get off from work after 6.

Yeah it is almost closed, I'll help push it along here. Been playing MHW on PC. Still has the same problems as it always has (too damn easy) but it's a lot more fun this time since my best friend has a PC and we play together for a lot of it. Sadly, this weekend was going to be a big monster hunter weekend but then my graphics card died saturday night so now I'm waiting for a new one to be delivered but the long weekend will of course be over by then. Unlucky.

Is fantasy anime that large of a subgenre?

Theres a fair amount of it but I think JRPGs being basically fantasy anime with gameplay allow a pretty solid understanding of the genre. Scrapped princess and chrome shelled regios are my two lesser known fantasy recs. I really wish there were more. I'm always craving fantasy adventure and anime really doesn't deliver.
