26 y/o Alex Lovine and her girlfriend, 24 y/o Emma Pichl were booted out of an uber driver's car after he went INSANE when he saw them KISSING in his car in New York!!

They were riding in his car in the evening in Manhattan when he suddenly pulled over and kicked them out after initially thought it was a joke but once they realized he wasn't they started recording him

Alex said they ordered an uber at 5pm to go to a friend's birthday party in Brooklyn and said "We were sitting on opposite sites of the car. We leaned in for a peck and that's what it was, a legit peck"

After he saw them through his rear view window he stopped and told them to get out. Alex said they started laughing and thought he was joking. They were aware of Uber's sex in the car policy but it was just a kiss which is far from objectionable.

She says "He yelled at us for being disrespectful and inappropriate because we pecked on the lips"

Video footage shows the unidentified driver openign the door to the backseat as Aelx asks them why they're being thrown out and he says "It's illegal. You can't do this in the car. You aren't allowed to do this."

She presses him and says "Why are we not allowed to kiss in an Uber?". He says "It's disrespectful" and he reaches for her phone to stop recording.

They threatened to call the police and said "It's not illegal to kiss in New York"

They have sent a report to Uber of their complaint as the company responded and said they do not tolerate any form of discrimination and have reached out to them to say they are investigating and will take action.

All Alex wants is an apology and a refund as she's also filed a complaint with the city's Human Right's Commission after that terrible experience which ironically happened during pride emonth

She said "Obviously, he's homophobic. I was very surprised. I haven't experienced homophobic behaviour in the city. We live in this bubble and i think this can't happen here in NYC."

A driver from a place where homosexuality is illegal and officially condemned and makes no reference at all to the two getting hot & heavy when asked repeatedly why they're being kicked out for kissing and makes no defense other than it's illegal and disrespectful. A driver that makes no attempt on his own to record the incident for his own defense.

The couple having a stunned reaction and thinking the whole thing was some kind of prank and recording the incident for their own defense. But for some reason they wanted to get in a quick bump and squeeze in the middle of the day in the back of some guy's car and it couldn't possibly be an innocent kiss.

Except for the fact that gay people aren't going to be readily identifiable as gay in most cases. You're only ever actually going to notice if they get into the car as a couple AND perform some kind of PDA, which very much narrows it down. I guarantee he's seen more PDA's from straight couples than just a quick kiss, and probably been okay with them if his rating is at all passable, but seeing such PDA's from a gay couple is much less likely (and similar prior incidents may not have been reported like this).

They were having sex. They gave each other kiss. If they were starting to have sex, then it would be different. That will probably happen. If you work to pick up a bunch of people throughout the city, you'll probably pick up a bunch of people with different views. It should be surprising that some of them might be LGBT and might possibly show some kind of PDA... And in this case, they did.

In the end, all they did was kiss. If he didn't like that, he could have asked them not to again. If they didn't, everything would be fine. If they did, then you could kicked them out for being disrespectful. But he went straight to kicking them out...

Still I actually envy folk who are in a relationship and believe if you manage to find happiness in life you need to grab it with both hands as life is too short to let it pass you by being miserable.

I think those who have issues with seeing gay folk display affection for each other in public or any other couple clearly are jealous because they don't get shit themselves. I mean they are basically getting hot and bothered over something that doesn't affect them one bit.

Wonder if/when internal cameras will be mandatory in addition to dash cams. From the driver's point-of-view, that would feel like a worthwhile investment to cover me arse. Of course, there's the issue of people giving flack for not giving permission to be recorded.

That's what I am thinking. Similar to how customer services have that automated message that you may be recorded. Customers might just have to choose to accept being recorded or not be served.

Speaking of which, I think some Uber/Lyft drivers have been recording their interactions, right? I'm sure there's been cases of rowdy customers and the recording put the driver in good light.

But it probably would've been better if he just politely asked them to not do it again. But maybe only after a second kiss. If it was just one quick kiss, they may not have done it again. If they did it a second time, then politely asking if they wouldn't do it again might have worked for him... possibly...

Not necessarily, but if he did, he'd have solid legal grounds for appealing those penalties, given Uber's anti-sex-in-the-back-seat policies. He'd lose that appeal if evidence surfaced that he was fine with straight couples making out, or was otherwise more lenient with straight couples than gay ones (since that's being discriminatory in how he applies Uber's policies), but he'd still have a shot. A much better shot than he's got now, at least.
