This is the only thing I don't like about her. Her character work is great and the fact that she can play something so well when it's the exact opposite of her real personality is impressive.

I want to see how her character can work being away from the title for a while (and by a while, I mean at least a year), since she's never been away from the belt in one way or another since her main roster debut.

She should be proud. Ronda did what many people couldn't do: get a good match out of her. Even Meltzer is like, "I'm not doubting Ronda matches ever again. I wish they'd get her a manager, but she hit Wrestlemania out of the park and did it here with an opponent who is not good at all." Alvarez was trying to argue that people who hate Ronda are still going to hate her (because they are fucking idiots), but Ronda passed the eye test.

Yeah, if you start putting Ronda on TV every week you make the mistake that is being made with every talent every week. Larger rosters are a boon for good bookers because it allows you to keep people fresh and make every match more valuable due to a lack of overexposure.

Also, the character of Alexa is very stagnant for me; in a year, any other on character who changes absolutely zero percent would be crushed by critics. And this is the company that was trying to get Emmy consideration this year. Like, the cluelessness is astounding. Alexa is a decent actress who is given better scripts than the other women. That's not necessarily because the other women are worse. It's because the scripts for Alexa are better. And, hell, it's not by much.

I don't know if I'd go that far. You give Bayley or Sasha the exact same script as Alexa and they can't do anything with it because neither of them can act. They can say the words, but they can't use the proper inflection or expressions that make the lines they're reciting believable. There's a lot more to acting than just saying lines, and that's where Alexa stands tall among the rest of the division (pun intended, aside from Becky, since she was an actress prior to wrestling).

Look at Alexa's A moment of Bliss promos about bullying for example. That's something that most of the roster (men or women) couldn't do because their promos are so wooden.

It is definitely necessarily because the other women are worse.

I mean I see what you're saying about Alexa getting better scripts because she's one of the only women on the roster that gets a script that fits the WWE women's wrestler writing paradigm.

But Bayley or Sasha or Charlotte playing the Alexa character with the Alexa script are not going to do it anywhere close to as well. I mean just ignore the script outright and see their character work in matches and it should be night and day.

Like I said I do get what you're saying-- I just think it's a disservice to Alexa to say "it's not necessarily because the other women are worse"

Pretty much. They tapped on really good character work in NXT and the main roster have aped it ever since with diminishing returns. The writers on the main roster don't understand how a feud works, so they keep trying to resurrect this one over and over. You have no idea what they can actually do because they were given the ball one time with a team behind them and it worked. That is far from what they get now. Almost anyone in Bayley's position would be doomed to fail after what she's been put through!
