Two of those are very solid seasons, two more are at least worth watching once, and the remaining two you may as well just watch to say you saw them all.

Vanuatu is definitely on my must-watch list if I A. ever get around to it again and B. make it through the pre-merge because I remember that being dreadful the first two times I tried.

With the exception of the final 3, all of whom were calm, rational players, One World's cast was amazing. Had some villains to hate (I won't say "great" villains because the big two are especially vile), some big personalities. I think if Kim isn't there to rationally run the show, the season is a lot better than it is.

Redemption Island has a terrible cast with only a few interesting characters (honestly, they should've just swapped Francesca/Kristina with Stephanie/Krista, given how out-of-place and obvious early boots they were on a mostly homogenous tribe.) Plus, terrible twists (captain season designed to give Boston Rob a win, Redemption Island to give him and Russell a second chance if they lost, and RI continued until the finale, so there were still EIGHT people who could win the game in the final episode.) In NO WAY should One World be the worst season on this list. 35th, sure, but Redemption Island is untouchably awful.

i would take OW over RI any day because OW doesn't have Phillip. iirc that's pretty much the bulk of the reason for that order for me. they're both awful obviously but OW just gets boring as fuck as it goes on whereas RI gets boring and annoying.

then again, OW did have a moment where i legitimately got angry while watching. don't remember if i had that for RI. also during OW i keep having to hear the name "Troyzan"

Wow, unexpected start. Redemption Island is the only season of Survivor I have trouble rewatching. It's also the only season where I've skipped episodes in rewatches due to how slow and boring they are.

At least One World's Pagonging had:

A Michael blindside that required Kim to rush over to cockblock Jay's dumb ass from spilling the beans
A Jay blindside in which Jay got himself voted out by spilling the beans about Troyzan's idol to Kim
A Troyzan stay of execution when he wins immunity (something that NEVER happened during the RI Pagonging)
A Troyzan boot that Christina almost fucked up and got herself voted out during
A Kat blindside that provides one more majority alliance boot than Redemption Island had during its 6-person Pagonging
Finally, a Tarzan boot when Kim misted Alicia into throwing their games away

To recap, not only did someone from the majority leave BEFORE the Pagonging was complete, but also, a member of the minority alliance won goddamn immunity to save himself. Neither of these events occurred in Redemption Island. One World also didn't have a time-consuming twist that quashed drama and prevented rewards like Redemption Island did.

ETA: Seriously, the most fury-inducing moment of RI is when Steve, one of the last two or three Zapateras, makes a pitch to Natalie/Ashley, and the editors can't even give us a tease of "maybe the girls will flip and make a move", because they immediately turn around to say "yeah right, like we're gonna work with Steve and ANDREA." Jesus Christ, NOTHING HAPPENS.

I know he was the last one left. I just don't remember if the moment happened during the Julie boot (which I believe is widely considered the worst episode of the entire franchise), or during the Ralph/Steve double boot.

Redemption Island was a complete Boston Rob circlejerk for Jeff and Mark and the rest of the crew. There's no denying it, that's what it was meant to be. Jeff said prior to the season airing that he expected it to go down as a top 5 season, and he ate those words big time. But if you just look at it at face value, unless you hate Phillip (which I don't), and hell, even if you DO hate Phillip, there's still nothing quite as vile and disgusting in that season as the behavior that was allowed to take place in One World and South Pacific.

ETA: Worlds Apart too, but at least by that point the producers were like, no we're not letting this fly, those guys are going to get absolutely buried in the edit. And they were. Despite Dan and Will probably not being quite as terrible of people as Colton, they got the shitting-on in the edit that they deserved, unlike Colton.

You hate South Pacific far too much. There is no behavior that one could equate to Colton in One World. And even Colton, at least he's out pre-merge and goes out crying like a bitch. I'm not saying he makes the season BETTER, but at least he doesn't last that long.

Still doesn't justify ranking it below a season with negativity that continued all season long, had an equally obvious march to victory (by a player who had a far more unfair advantage than Kim), and had its players literally stamp out any attempts to provide ANY sort of drama or interest for the entire post-merge.

Obviously, based on a similar ranking, I agree with Inviso on this. I'm very disappointed in what you guys put on the bottom. One World isn't even a bottom five season!

Kim painted a masterpiece on her rookie season. I want to see her play again accordingly to see if she can replicate her success, especially after a significant gap in time.

I like Kat, too ("Blindsides are FUN!" *gets blindsided*), but the real gem was Tarzan being jealous of Chelsea's boobs. Quirks like that are something all over One World - something not present in seasons inferior to it.

While Colton is a significant detraction, at least the reactions to him were amusing enough to make his karmic comeuppance ultimately satisfying. He still should not have been cast. I knew people who knew him from ORGs back in the day and they all vouched that he was a piece of shit. Alicia meanwhile was fine for a villain casting. Colton was just too vile to be a compelling antagonist.

I agree with Inviso also. OW is by no means a good season but it certainly not the worst. There are a lot more seasons that are more offensive and/or boring.

I honestly thought everyone would have it in their bottom 5, with most of those being bottom 2s or 3s, so either people are a lot more forgiving of it than I thought or somebody had it really high.

I believe I had it just outside my bottom five.

Those first three-and-a-half episodes and the merge are good enough to compensate for all the absolutely abysmal stuff that happens after the second Elrod blindside - a compensation that worse seasons like South Pacific and Ghost Island lack. That said, there's no justification for RI being any higher than where I have it. I would presume many people had it in the 30-33 range, which nudges it slightly above One World here (though One World is underrated).
