Anyway, actual thoughts.

Happy Sugar Life
First episode was kinda dumb, and I have a feeling it's just gonna get worse. Yet to see if it'll be any fun, but that episode was pretty over-the-top without actually doing anything too crazy, which gives me contradictory optimism going forward. This'll be a weird show regardless.

Grand Blue
I would've dropped this if not for the hype surrounding the manga. Almost the worst first episode of the season, and easily the worst I finished.

I think that's it for new shows, unless someone picks up HSG. Might check out Yuragi since the manga is popular, but I don't really know much about it. Tentative rankings:

Cells At Work
Banana Fish
Chio's School Road
Happy Sugar Life
Angels of Death
Grand Blue

Top 3 all pretty great.

I was kinda disappointed by the Free S3 op, but that's mainly because of the fact that I don't really agree with where OLDCODEX is headed to vocally...

HeroAca already posted. Grand Blue has a rad song but nothing visuals. Harukana Recieve and Planet With haven't shown theirs yet.

Asobi Asobase's is funny in the sense of it being a fakeout, but now that the shoe has dropped it's gonna be a total skip.

Hanebado's is OK, though the beginning repeats at the end which is annoying.

Overlord's is fine, visuals are whatever but I love Myth & Roid. Angolmois' is pretty decent. Same goes for Chio.

Cells at Work and Happy Sugar Life's are both good. Also we have a Titan OP to look forward to.

Nothing else worth mentioning!

You're 100% right, my fear was that when people come at me to defend a show it's usually them telling me to "fuck off" or something similar. Wasn't looking forward to it.

I saw this elsewhere but it encapsulated my feelings better than I could so I'm stealing it. The first episode of Grand Blue felt like being the only sober person at a party. All the drunks were doing things that might've been hilarious if I were also drunk, but I'm sober so instead it was equal parts uncomfortable and boring.

Frat boy humor has never been my favorite thing though so I'm kind of surprised so many people here seem to be disappointed in it too. I've seen almost nothing but overwhelming praise for the episode on Reddit and elsewhere.

Oh were on a new topic already. Didnt even notice until now. As for the Halibel question it was never shown I believe. She was last seen held prisoner after being defeated by the final villain and I dont think it ever went back to her. There were a lot of unresolved things in the end that he just never got back to for whatever reason.

"whatever reason" being they told him to wrap it up in the next few chapters

I don't trust Kubo was going to wrap up much of anything except the "main" plot even if he had 100 more chapters.

I remember Kubo saying he almost ended Bleach after the war arc, but he kept going. I dont really remember hearing or seeing anything after that so I just sorta assumed he finished it naturally and just didnt really care to go back and cover loose ends. In the end well probably never know just how much he wanted to do and what he mightve been told to cut by editors/Jump staff. If only they told others to wrap their series up more of them might not have ended so boring or terribly :(

you could have given Kubo a thousand chapters and he would have found a way to stretch it to fit

As long as it was stretched to include lots of characters and resolutions I wouldnt mind. Maybe he couldve gone back to do literally anything with Tatsuki or given Kon a real purpose after reintroducing him for the first time in years. Also maybe he could fix that shitty final chapter that seemingly nobody liked because it made no sense. I mean Id take more Bleach over literally Boruto. OP is gonna last decades more at this rate too

Bleach and Naruto didn't feel like they had loose ends to tie, more like the authors forgot about all the stuff they drew over 700+ chapters

if anything they felt like they ran on too long, and it seemed like Jump gave Kishimoto time to do one last fanservice arc to end his manga before going on to milking Burrito and Salad sequel

Eh felt like it wanted to do a huge arc for all its king beast things, but after two it just went for its final arc. Probably a wise decision

I did not know what Revue Starlight was supposed to be for the first 80% and then it got RADICAL. The last 5 minutes alone almost make me wanna put it in first for the season, holy shit.

I wont even give Boruto a chance. I just cant ever see myself caring to have any sort of interest in that world again after it shit all over itself multiple times. Toriko ended ok, but also sorta felt like it rushed and didnt go as big as it could have. I think endings like Hitman Reborn might possibly be the worst though. Its like it literally went back to chapter 1 for everybody. I cant think of a single fighting shounen series that ends well even for ones I really loved.

Netflix has a lot of Fate content, at least in the UK.

Good to see Fate getting love on such a big platform.

Even that FGO special is on there.

Pretty much. Watching Tsuna go through everything to basically go back to acting like a pussy again was awful. I mean hes got amazing powers and he just wants to be a wuss? What the fuck :(

Oh, you mean in the sense that nobody cares when these things hit Netflix.

Netflix doesn't put those numbers out, so all I really have to go by is that when they actually hit Netflix there's zero hype, zero news, and zero discussion anywhere. Every delaycast Netflix anime has released with total silence, compared to their actual premier content like Devilman and Agretsuko which get tons of play.

Hell, even with Evergarden which came out like a week after it finished airing in Japan, discussion was already dead. That one was further handicapped by it already being out DUBBED before Netflix put it out, so even the dub only people were already snatching it up.

The big theory is that they're mod souls.

In Bleach Brave Souls they were originally classified as "Human" but that turned out to be a mistake and they got classified as "No Affiliation" which is what Kon has.
