Oh did that manga finish? I remember liking the anime. On that note its kinda annoying when a manga gets an anime and then the manga ends a bit after the anime is done and the rest is never animated.

Oh hey, High Score Girl was pretty solid. Animation sucks, but it seems like it'll be a fun show. Ono being mute is a bit lame, since she's pretty great otherwise, though I guess she might not work as well with a voice. There was also an advertisement for the Street Fighter Collection in the middle of the episode, which was really weird.

Ah, that would make sense. Guess we'll see SNK anniversary ads as well. At least it fits with the theme!

Beated Cowboy Bebop

Enjoyed it quite a bit in the end. But because it's an episodic drama, it had a few boring episodes, a decent chunk hitting right in the middle, which made me put it on hold for a while. Took me 3 months to finish it! I don't have a ton to say, since I didn't absolutely love it like so many, but I can see why it's so highly regarded and managed to keep such a strong legacy for the past two decades. Faye was the best character easily. She had the best personality to begin with, but her entire plotline and the development she goes through was great stuff. Spike was good too, but the "cool" factor bordered on cheesy and outdated at times. He still had some great moments, specifically in the finale. Jet was boring. Ed was pretty bad. She had a couple of funny scenes, but she was mostly annoying. My favorite episode was either "Speak Like a Child" or "Hard Luck Woman". Two 10/10 episodes imo. Is it worth trying to dig for the movie? It's not on any streaming platforms that I can see, and it's a pain to download movies on my shitty WiFi.

Not sure what's next on the chopping block. Kinda wanna keep going for the classics I haven't seen, but also tempted to try and catch up on Overlord for whatever reason.

They even have all of the VA's as female, Kurapika would have been fine as a cool female main supporting character

Lack of important female characters is definitely a flaw in HxH. Heck, I think YYH probably did better for women than HxH did, despite being an older series. Kurapika being female certainly would've been an improvement.

I don't think every show needs to have equal gender splits. It's silly to even care that something doesn't have enough men or women in it.

However I'll say that if the work has lots of women or men in it that consistently underperform, that's when it gets more unfortunate.

Like yeah I think My Hero is worse example than HxH. The girls consistently do nothing despite being well designed and interesting. They're just not there in HxH most of the time.

It's more the female VA's which yes, that happens with other male roles but the combination of those and then thinking "huh, HxH has like no prominent females whatsoever" made me think it would have been nice to have Kurapika as a female. Just my own opinion though, I'm not trying to tarnish your thoughts about HxH!

I can't relate very well to thinking something needs more of a gender. And really your comment was just a "last straw" that got me thinking about how I don't really feel comfortable with the way the culture, imo, obsesses over it. (Not that your comment indicates you obsess over it either.)
