Our disagreement on this subject is probably on a fundamental level. It's really difficult for me to get invested in an anime when it's not being actively discussed. The simulcast environment has changed my views a lot. That's why it takes a TON of an effort for me to being myself to watch an old anime or even one that's just a season behind. Every season I fall behind like 3 or 4 episodes on a show I was enjoying, and once the season changes I just end up putting it on hiatus indefinitely because it's over. This is really my problem, and why I hate Netflix so much.

I'm starting to understand why for others it's not a big deal, while for me it's basically them killing an anime. When I saw they were snatching up Tenrou, I immediately knew that I was going to have to totally write that show off for the foreseeable future, and that's really depressing that they've, in my mind, basically cancelled a show I was looking forward to by eliminating it's simulcast.

Im not sure Id be excited about Tenrou anyways. There isnt really any part of it that sounds good

I dunno, PA Works action series sounds like it could be interesting. I only used it as an example because it's this season, though. Dragon Pilot was a way bigger kick to the gut.

I got curious what the last good PA Works series I saw was and it was Tari Tari from 2012. Action is kinda rare for them I guess, but werewolves vs vampires isnt anything new and Im not sure its ever been good to begin with. I can think of a couple things that have done it before and none were really that good

The fansubs just came out like an hour ago, days later! We're supposed to be at the point where "late fansubs" are like 2 hours after the Japanese premier. We had this stuff down 3 years ago before Netflix fucked it up and sent us back a decade.

Episode one thoughts:

Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs was pretty good! Sure, it has fanservice harem aspects, which are never my favorite, but it also has a neat supernatural premise and some good humor so far. I really like Yuuna. Hopefully this will be a better 'help the ghost move on' anime than Nanana's Buried Treasure because I found that one really underwhelming.

Revue Starlight was great! I would've been happy with a regular old anime about girls learning theater (I mean, Hinako Note was cute and fine) but by the end of the episode it was clear that Revue would aspire to be more than that. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it, I feel like the quality of the story could go either way, but I'm super excited to watch more and if nothing else I hope the sheer spectacle of it remains strong.

The main guy in the hot springs show looks like he belongs in some other series. He just looks weird. Also I think Index S3 is supposed to be coming in Fall. It has been such a long time so Im excited. Hope we get a Railgun S3 announcement soon after

I figured throughout most of Starlight it was gonna be a Roba show, and then at the end I realized it was gonna be a show for both of us.

Bunch of people calling this Utena 2, which I guess means I need to get off my ass and watch Utena.

Is it impossible to watch Netflix on my phone without downloading the app? It sure seems like it which is fucking dumb. I dont have the space to add a single thing on this phone before anybody says I should just download it.

Did you try going through the Netflix website? I've only ever used the app.

Also, leaving aside space concerns, the Netflix app is super dumb. I got rid of it once I realized it was killing 20% of my battery life somehow even on days when I never opened it.

Maybe it'll be HiDive's big break. Even without the founders pricing it's still a dirt cheap service, but they havent had that simulcast hit to really bring in the numbers. I already think they've got a great back catalog and have a fine selection of dubs as well.

It's not really LL, though. Maybe Love Live meets....Yuri Bear Storm?

Just watched Aggretsuko ep1. Was honestly kinda boring even for a short. Not sure if Ill watch episode 2, but hey I watched something anime again for the first time in a while so thats something

Aggretsuko is extremely hit or miss I'm finding which is crazy, even among people I know irl. I love it and got my coworker into it while one of my other friends was not feeling it at all, although it did grow on her more by the end.

I think it's a combination of two things. One is the push it's being given to non-anime watchers on the assumption that they'll relate, but they just don't dig this kind of show. The other is just overexposure, where anything that gets this much attention is gonna have people who are vocally against it.

Utena worst major Ikuhara show imo. It's still solid though, and I suppose it is is most famous/well-regarded show.

If this other show is similar to his style though than I might have to check it out (seems the director worked with Ikuhara often?). Would make it the only anime I'm watching this season lol.

I wouldnt really get much use out of it so Im good. Thanks for the offer though. You guys ever feel like you need to rewatch S1-2 of an anime because its been so long since S3 or just been a long time since you last watched a season? I never got to Durarara S2 yet and I feel like Id need to rewatch the first series to really remember whats going on and get into S2.
