I'm trying to be cautious. Feels like corrik and ashe are on the good guys side, but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Chris' plea to emotion about red feels...genuine? I even agreed yesterday it felt genuine.

You do realize that if I were scum, my lynch would be imminent, and Corrik would have good reason to bus me, right? I mean assuming you're town, which maybe you're not. Maybe Nana pulled the ultimate gambit before switching out.

It'd be such a longshot as scum, that there'd be no reason to do it. It's not prolonging the game, because they don't have a mislynch setup.

On the other hand, Red and Chris clearly have my mislynch setup. I'm lynched, game over. They've got enough trust from town because... well I guess people just like them. Apparently, Mafia's become a game of popularity.

All anyone has to do is look at how bad Red wants my lynch to see that he's scum.

First off hypocritical, as most of the day has been ashe and corrik findimg every, including some of the more pathetic arguments, many outright lies or vrry misleading arguments, against me.

Second off, wanting someone lynched badly in itself is not something that is suddenly an alignment indicator to make someone scum. This is quite literally probably do or die, of course i want the person i think is scum lynched badly.

Anyway I was called into work due to someone being sick so I don't have time like I want. I am just thinking about what makes a scum. What qualities inherently go into someone being deceitful. Does Ashe actually meet any of them? Is a warped sense of reality brought on by pressure always scummy? Do worlds exist where players simply fold and conform to their surroundings? Red and Ashe go back and forth, tearing each other apart and their fervor grows more and more to the point that Ashe is accusing red and I of being popular as for why people don't want to kill us - as absurd as it is false, given the attention at least I get every game.

I know I am not lynching red today, because I see the genuineness of his actions. And if Ashe insists that red is scum (and me with him, a joke really if anyone has ever seen a scum game with us together) then I will vote him and hope for the best. But my heart is unsteady because I get the sense an error is being made, but really, reasonably, there is nothing more to do.

To gaslight somebody is to lie to someone and tell them that their memory is faulty whenever they point out that the facts don't fit how somebody's describing the story. Here, we see that Scare, despite making a post that is clearly in response to mine, and makes no sense if we assume otherwise, is instead pretending that the posts are in isolation, that he "didn't read" the post he's clearly responding to, and that therefore he caught me in a lie when there's clearly no such situation.

The problem I'm wrestling with is that, if Scare is scum, for aforementioned reasons Ashe can't be town, so that would make them both scum. But if both of them are scum, then the scumteam must've been super incompetent d1: either not present, already voting Star, or both; and almost every vote on Scare or Ashe d1 would've been from town.

This would simplify the game a lot: it would demand that Blade and PJ are scum, for instance, along with suspicion falling upon people whose player slots didn't vote d1 (which includes me, fwiw).

Though this means that, in both the town-town and scum-scum scenarios, we're forced to look at the people who haven't been voting. Only in the Ashe-scum, Scare-town world do active votes implicate anyone.

Scum Chris doesn't bus Scum Ashe there when unclaimed potential power FD is up for grabs. Pretty easy to 'change my mind' if I wasn't being genuine

Scum Chris doesn't fail to kill a town red there. Scare is like "Town chris would finish the job" but he doesn't think about how much of a predator scum Chris is. Town Chris always hesitates if he thinks he has insight, scum Chris just chops Red up into pieces and moves on.

People are always telling me what scum chris will or won't do as if they know anything, it's kind of a joke that people don't get the simple brutality of my scum play.

I'm talking more in regards to the ashe lynch. If there is a mistake lynch its not in ashe or corrik.

On top of that I'm pretty sure corriks team went all in here on me. Or at least almost all in(dowolf was literally probably used as bait to try to hook town in one sequence) . Just need the flips to start coming so we can stop worrying about people that are town voting in the wrong direction.

I must admit, I forgot about the psychological aspect of this game. But my rust is starting to shake off.

Red has been, all day, manipulating people into voting his way. Telling them how bad they are if they don't vote for me, talking about how he'll yell at them when the game is over. (Or calling them scum where convenient) Is this really the action of a Townie? I mean I know Townies can only try their best. They're the uninformed majority going against the informed minority. Why would you ever yell at someone for not getting it right?

I'm sure he'll come in and have an answer and a quip for that. "It's not alignment indicative!" He'll say. This is his go-to by the way. I mean technically, nothing in this game is alignment indicative except a guilty scan. And we don't rely on Guilty Scans to play Mafia. We rely on our guts, and our logic.

Or maybe he'll say "I'm just trying to make sure they make the right choice!" Which suggests that he has little respect for your town game. That he doesn't think you can make the right choice on your own. I mean even if we lose, what's the big deal? It's an internet message board game. I'm not going to get mad if we lose. Don't we come here to have fun? I mean we're not all Ulti are we? Get upset and throw a trantrum when we lose? That's why I quit two years ago. People took the game far too seriously. Especially as scum. Getting mad at town makes even less sense, though. Especially when you're town yourself. People can only try to figure out the game for themselves. You win some, you lose some. I know I'm under .500. And I'm okay with that because save for one time I felt that most of those games people gave it everything they had. Isn't that all we can really do? (The time we didn't was when half of town stopped showing up)

I remember Corrik doing something similar last game. He said that if we didn't lynch Dels the next day, we shouldn't even sign up for mafia ever again. A subtle psychological attack. A bit more subtle than Red's. Red disguises his as frustration -- which is, sadly I must say, completely fake. He's certainly got the skill to fake his frustration here. Maybe he's a little frustrated by the fact that this lynch isn't 100% set yet. That his team has to wait a little longer for the game to end---another thing I remember from Corrik in the last game. When it came down to the final 5... Corrik pretty much yelled at us to make a choice. Panthera eventually did, and we lost. Corrik and Death won. The right choice there would have been to lynch Death. But I found myself psychologically manipulated into going along with Corrik. It's not hard to fall for it.

I hope that town doesn't fall for the manipulations of Red here, and does the right thing. But if they do in the end, no hard feelings. I won't yell or scream at you when the game's over. We may have a laugh over how it'd have been nice if you listened to me and Corrik. Maybe we'll even be shocked by who the last two scum are. But whatever the case, as frustrated as I've been with this town at times---after the game is over, I'm not going to be mad at anyone.

If this were the case, Red would be more than happy to lynch Dowolf. I know I was. But your team would much rather have the win end today so you may have a 'flawless victory' (Well flawless in terms of not being lynched in any case)

I must confess though if we don't get to lynch Red I will be disappointed to not get to see you try to argue your way out tomorrow.
