The end of Franxx is, uhh....the wrong show. I know it's not like this, but it really feels like A1 and Trigger were duking it out through development, A1 handily trouncing them for most of the show, and then at the end Trigger hit them upside the head with a shovel and took the reigns.

Megalobox and Hinamatsuri.

Spring does not hold up well in retrospect other than continuing series.

You've already tried (or at least mentioned) the most popular/most well liked Spring anime. I guess there's also Umamusume if you want horse girl racing and Last Period if you want a lame gacha comedy that knows it's lame and plays into it. Those are both pretty niche though so you should be able to tell if they sound like things you'd enjoy.

I might try to watch stuff tonight. I should have at least 1 episode of Cells At Work to watch anyways. Maybe even 2 if the newest episode is already out. Aside from that uh I guess I could watch ep2 of Hinamatsuri and see how it goes.

Cells At Work ep3 - Not as good as the previous two, but I blame that on the lack of Red Blood Cell Hanazawa and this new Naive T Cell being kinda lame.

Hinamatsuri Ep2 - Another psychic character showed up from wherever the hell they come from. Not sure why they gotta travel naked in weird little metal pods they cant open unless a button on the back is pressed. I mean what if somebody landed in the middle of nowhere and was just stuck in it forever? Anyways new girl was around for this first half and then the second half was MC wanting his old life back so he went out drinking and hitting on women, but then he just let Hina tag along in the end anyways and her random school friend. Was ok I guess.

Hinamatsuri ep3 - New girl is back and literally living in a homeless camp now. I guess homeless people using whatever money they can get on alcohol is a worldwide belief. Next part was the school girl being blackmailed into being a bartender and apparently shes amazing at it. That part wasnt too bad. Last part got back to Hina who tried to clean up because I guess she was worried MC might kick her out and have blonde psychic girl live with him instead. She failed at everything unsurprisingly. What a really weird episode. Like what the fuck the first part tries to be emotional with the blonde being homeless and learning the value of money and why people were mad she was stealing from them. The second part tried to be funny with an awkward situation and the last part was really short trying to be funny with Hinas efforts failing, but it just made the episode as a whole feel all over the place.

If you don't like the show after 3 episodes you're never going to like it and should probably drop it now IMO. I don't even really think it got better at all after the first episode, or changed all that much, so I don't see the point of sticking with it.

It also felt like all the other world stuff wasnt gonna matter at all too. Like I dont get the point of making all the psychic girls be from another world where it sounds like theyre forced to do whatever the adults in control of them want. It sounds like the world theyre from was kinda dark and the one girl even said she was sent to kill the other, but it feels like all this background stuff is literally pointless and will probably only even matter again if they do an emotional fakeout episode where Hina seems like shes gonna go back to her world and then doesnt. Maybe Im wrong on my guesses, but it felt like this is a show trying to go for comedy and family feels (Id say its failing at both 3eps in too) while having pointless background origins for the girls.

Its been a while since I talked so much about a show I wasnt really feeling.

So... The Darling in the Franxx ending/last few eps wasn't that bad? Maybe a bit fast paced and the change in plot that happened may have been weird to some but I thought it was fine.

Yeah middle was probably the best part but I still liked just about everything. Wasn't super in love with the show but it was solid fun.

I finished Vividred Operation today, which I'd been meaning to watch ever since Mac suggested it as an anime that was similar to Katana Maidens. I can kind of see what you meant but it gave me a Strike Witches vibe more than anything (and not just because it's also set in a universe where girls aren't allowed to wear pants for some reason, mostly because of the flying combat and waves of mysterious enemies). Thankfully, it was a lot better than Strike Witches in both plot and characterization, though I felt the battles were a bit lacking. Akane was a really fun character, and I also enjoyed how they handled Rei. It would've been so easy to fumble Rei's writing and turn it into another BS 'I forgive you even though you tried to destroy the world for no reason' anime resolution, but thankfully it wasn't like that. The crow was the one sending the enemies, Rei was just failing at powering them up so she wasn't really responsible for the damages. Her goal was also at least semi-noble in that she thought the engine would destroy the world, even if all of that wound up being misguided. Anyway, it was a neat sci-fi premise to have humanity being tested like that and it had a nice resolution.

It definitely didn't resonate with me as much as Katana Maidens did, mostly because a lot of the early and middle episodes felt too formulaic and meandering, but Vividred Operation was fun and I'm glad I watched it.
