Liposuction is a stupid idea. You'll lose all that weight, then be tempted to gain it all back in five years. Don't do it - you need to change your habits instead.

Here are some tips:
Count calories. No need to keep a diary - just guesstimate!
Walk a LOT, but also do ball crunches, yoga, weight lifting, or something else that'll strengthen your core.
Portion control. Tell yourself you don't really need that fifth slice of pizza and keep it to four. Then, after a month or two, say you don't really need that fourth slice of pizza and keep it to three.

What I do is I try to limit myself to 1,000 calories two days a week while shooting for 2,500 four other days while not letting myself go above 3,000 the seventh. Those numbers will eventually be 800, 2,000, and 2,500, with one 3,000 calorie day a month.

I actually don't listen to music while I walk. I people watch. All you have to do is walk in a place where there are a lot of people around, but it isn't like a mob or place where people have zero mindfulness.

I limit my sodas (I average only one a week) and weight loss is still a struggle for me. I am already at 43,100 steps after four days this week, but I seem to have tired myself out.

A gastric bypass surgery won't help if you don't have the right mental attitude, either. You need to do more than just have a surgery and assume it'll all work out. You have to show a willingness to change. How much does that operation cost, anyway? Will your health insurance cover most of it?

Dude you don't even need to exercise. Yes OF COURSE it helps and it's healthy anyways but it's simple

Calories in vs calories out

I could lose weight eating mcdonalds every day as long as I was in a caloric deficit. Pretty easy.

Healthy way to lose weight is to strength train in addition to some cardio and core exercise, lower your carbs/saturated fats/sugars, watch your calories, and eat healthier. Portion control always helps for lowering calories. But also look at the nutrition labels when you can. When you see how unhealthy some of the stuff you eat is, how large the sugar and saturated fat content is, you will probably want to eat much less of it.

I disagree with saying "just do calories in vs. calories out". Yeah, calories in vs. calories out technically works, but if you purposefully eat way less to cut your calories, you'll end up getting hungry, and next thing you know you're eating way more to make up for your hunger. And your metabolism won't work as hard if you're not taking in food. Saying calories in vs. calories out often makes someone think they just need to eat less, but the truth is they need to eat better food.

Don't worry about starving yourself, just eat something with less calories and better nutrients. There's plenty of ways to eat a good, filling meal with less than 600 calories. A lot of fast food won't fill you up until you've eaten 1000 calories worth. For example, eat 3 McChickens from McDonald's and you're already up around 1000. A patty melt from Whataburger (this is only a thing in the south I think) is around 1000 calories. So don't just watch your calories; eat filling meals that are healthier. You'll probably end up cutting your calories while eating the same amount of food.

True but not true. To be fat, you have to be overeating significantly. You won't be hungry to eat less. Starve yourself one day to reset yourself then just go by calories.

They don't use the sleeve in a lot of places anymore.

And, yes, he is correct. Gastric bypass is an operation that helps you change your diet. Basically, it makes you throw up if you overeat or feel sick if you eat wrong foods. A lot of places that do it make you do food counseling therapy afterwards to help you with this.

I'm glad this stuff exists to help people but in the other hand we as a human race have been around for thousands of years and only in the last century have we somehow been unable to put the fork down

Like does the sleeve also workout for you and cook healthy meals

Gotta say, when I went from 215 to 185 I ate just as much if not more fast food during that period then any other period of my life.

I had fast food about 3 or 4 times a week for meals. My gotos were a #1 from Wendys, chicken strips at Chick-fil-A, or the homestyle chicken sandwich at McDonalds. Sometimes on the weekend I would eat hoagies (from a place that makes them giant), other fried chicken sandwiches from local shops and possibly pizza. I would get salads as the side sometimes sure, but I still ate those foods and lost weight. Oh and no I did not cut the soda. I ate the same food as ever, just less of it.

It was actually when I started to add the gym to my diet is when I no longer lost weight, rather I gained strength and muscle.

I believe weight loss thing is to help you determine your target heart rate. At a certain point you go from fat loss to cardio training so its focusing more on like having stronger endurance than burning the calories type of thing

Calories in vs. calories out isn't stupid, it's science. But just worrying about that number isn't really the right way to do it. That's a shortcut, that's the simplest answer to a much more complex dilemma. You've gotta consider more than just the number of calories in food to lose weight effectively (which is to say, not just dropping weight but staying healthy and well-nourished while doing it)

Willpower, on the other hand, doesn't exactly work to overcome anything. If your body isn't getting good nutrients because you're not taking in as much food, and the food you are taking in isn't very nourishing, then your health will decline in some way.

Now dropping calories by like 200 each day is definitely doable and it will work (most likely) but there's more efficient and effective ways to lose weight healthily.

It was actually when I started to add the gym to my diet is when I no longer lost weight, rather I gained strength and muscle.

Fast food can work if you don't eat too much of it, which is absolutely doable. Tbf, I noted some extreme examples that have a ton of calories. There's plenty of good menu items at places too, and chicken sandwiches/strips are usually some of the better ones.

As I said, calories are for sure the weight determiner, but I think there's better ways to lose weight than just doing calorie counting. A lot of people don't do it right, and it's easy to mess up. Besides, some people do calorie counting in a way that defeats the purpose of weight loss. After all, the main goal of most people aiming for weight loss is better health, right? Either that or trying to prevent health issues from being overweight. Dropping the weight is one thing, but being healthy involves much more.

IMO if you were not losing weight from going to the gym, that's fine. Gaining weight in muscle mass rather than fat is great. If you're gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time, even better.

You're on the right track but the problem is you make it sound like rocket science.

It's simple as f

Eat less than you need. Lose weight

Eat healthier foods in the process, look and feel better.

Great ideas for sure but try getting half of America to try it good luck lmfao

Wife and I went back tonight. Back was killing me 5 minutes in but still did 15 minutes on treadmill at 7.5 in line and just 2mph. But my heart rate hit 157? Which I think is too high for what I want to be doing but after I did mostly legs and was sweating all the way from head to ass so I'm not sure if I should be aiming for heart rate that high or what

Unless you have a heart problem, heart rate is not really worth paying attention to.

Solio makes pretty much every point I'd try to make. I still recommend looking into macros. You don't have to go hardcore into it, but it's good to be able to breakdown the foods you are eating quickly into what types of calories you are getting. CICO is technically true but you can build in plenty of self-defeats if you don't care about the types of calories and nutrients you are eating. If you're pitting yourself against your cravings and then encouraging those cravings with your diet... it's a hard road.

Good job on the exercise Scare. Maybe it doesn't feel like much (or it felt painful and difficult!) but it's infinitely better than doing no exercise. You're doing work and August 2019 ScareChan is going to post about how glad he is that 2018 ScareChan did this.

When I lost weight years ago, I pretty much approached it from the strict perspective of CICO. From there it became quickly evident that as I restricted myself to 1600-1800 calories, certain foods felt like they wasted my allotment and left me hungry faster, so I shifted away from allowing the carbohydrates and sugars I ate to be empty any longer except on rare occasons. And of course my intake of protein and fat increased, but I never really got near Atkins territory.

I also broke away from my usual portion sizes, literally cutting everything in half first to see if I was still hungry afterward and saving it for later if I wasn't. I think this may have been the most important step that I took because I broke the habitual eating and made it all deliberate.

Yeah I think if I just did counting calories I would say fuck it too quickly. I'm just cutting out a lot first and going from there
