I have never understood why the bar is on the bottom of the page, this is so much better

the actual bar is actually really cool itself, typing whatever and the topic comes up immediately I like

but I don't want to see the search bar until I intend to use it -- I now have to look lower to see the top of the topic list which is what I wanna see 98% of the time, and have less topics to see without scrolling

Yeah I like the drop down thing, I just want it to still be on the bottom. Or if it has to be at the top then I'd rather it be a magnifying glass icon that expands when you click it.

Honestly some people seem to have a hard time searching for topics, so maybe putting the bar right in front of your face is the best thing to do.

Being prominent and on top is great for game boards, but just seems unnecessary for social boards.

Bar on top superior.

No problem with it being the default but would have been nice to have given the option to put it back on the bottom. Label it legacy or something if future design is dependent on it or something.

just gonna gif the fixed position fix:


quite simply:

fieldset#gamespace_search {
position:fixed;
bottom:0;
left: 0;
right: 0;
}

div#gs_search_results {
position:fixed;
bottom:10%;
left:0;
right:0;
}

It'll cover up the " 2018 CBS Interactive Inc. All rights reserved." line at the bottom, but if you really want that back you can just pad the footer

already had one set up to tweak the width of the wrapper

If you want the eyesore to always be on your screen then use fixed position sure. Or you can just change the height of the search results. Might as well shrink the padding too to show way more results.

I use this thing once a month tops though.

That's what hide until focus/hover is for! That just took a little more than quick 2 seconds

pretty nice now having the magnifying glass in the corner to go to whenever I wanna search

Tampermonkey isn't directly for CSS

use Stylish which is

- click the Stylish button
- click menu / the three dots --> "Create New Style"
- paste css tweaks
- applies to, 'urls on doman', 'gamefaqs.gamespot.com'
- save

Ok, now these 2 combined make a really interesting result. This might even be better than the way it was before. The new search bar itself is good but I couldn't have it wasting so much space on the page.
