It's a little hard to feel sympathy for her because she has to see what a scumbag DSP is. She has to see all the begging and the drama that he creates. Even though her personality was grating, at least his first girlfriend was young enough that she probably didn't know any better--and she did seem to eventually grow up and decide to get out of there. But this new one is old enough to know better.

He starts today's stream by acknowledging the shooting and the death of John McCain. He says that he knows that people will want to talk about these things and he's not going to say they can't. But he doesn't want to have the entire chat be about these things because this is supposed to be a chill stream where people come to escape--they're not going to want to come and hear only about tragedy.

One of his regulars points out that people also don't want to come to the chat to hear him ask for money.

And then it's right into complaining that Shenmue isn't getting good views or contributions, and then into the usual begging spiel, which at this point he may as well be reading off a script.

An anonymous person tipped DSP $450 over the past couple days. He was contacted by PayPal last night and told this was done on a stolen credit card and the charges are being reversed. Never mind that he got over $2000 in cheers from someone earlier in the week. Now he's talking about depression and how he's going to struggle to pay for games he needs to buy in the coming weeks. And as ever, he still needs your support.

He could have addressed the shooting without politicizing it, and I don't think anyone in his stream chat expected him to talk about gun control. As someone who has been to gaming events before, he would have some insight into what it might be like to have something that scary and tragic happen. And it was clearly something the people in his chat were concerned about. What an opportunity to connect with his fans and show them that he's more than just some guy who plays video games for a living and has lost all connection to the outside world. But they weren't talking about him, so he wanted none of it.

You know what really gets me? This guy's detractors are the ones keeping him afloat.

I think it's a small group of big donors that are keeping him going, the ones who watch one of his emergency videos and immediately send him 50 or 100 dollars. But the troll donations do add up, and most of the time he won't even read the really insulting ones. DSP begs for money to sustain his middle-class lifestyle, not because he's going homeless anytime soon. He owns a home, a condo, and a BMW. He also has services like WWE Network, Amazon Prime, Netflix and Firef... whatever that service is called. He's doing fine.

Oh, I completely agree that he's not in the kind of financial dire straits that he claims he is. But without all the money people give him, he would have to make some changes and stop living the comfortable lifestyle he's used to. That's one of the most frustrating aspects for me, that he feels he's completely entitled to live far better than most people while doing basically nothing to earn it.

I had a theory that the mother fucker's scam might be going to a degree we never considered. What if secretly he was able to get youtube to monetize all the detractor videos so it all goes to him as alot of those videos are just re uploads of his stuff. Considering how the negative stigma around him greatly surpasses his own channel in search results I find this something to consider.

I love how he hangs on that ancient Street Fighter tourney performance when they used a version of the game actual FGC people said was trash.

It's especially hypocritical when he complains about how the current version of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo (on the 30th Anniversary Collection) isn't the real game because it's too fast. People have pointed out how that's pretty much the same thing people were saying about the version he finished 4th on, that it was a version of the game that played differently than what people were used to. But he thinks it's different somehow.

What really gets me is how he'll always use the excuse that he's only doing so bad because he's playing online. Lag, delayed inputs, and so on are causing him problems, and if he was playing someone in person, he'd destroy them. Never mind that the people he's playing against have to deal with the same online issues--they're always using online lag tactics to cheat! But he hasn't played offline against anybody in years, and given that he's burned all his bridges with any real life friends he used to have, he's not likely to play Street Fighter against a real live person ever again. So the online game is all that he has, and yet he refuses to adapt to it and continues to compare it to a live game that he'll never play again.
