When he was watching his old videos, at one point he specifically noted that he had snorted in an older video. It was sort of like, "See, I always snorted, so I don't know why people complain." Except he didn't snort as often back then (he'd been watching videos for a while before he found a snort), and he didn't used to snort right into a mic.

The throat clearing is worse in some ways. At least on a good day he won't be snorting all the time. But I don't know if his throat has gotten worse in the past little while, because the throat clearing is constant now. And it's not just quick throat clears; some of them go on for quite a while, and it really hurts his already poor commentary.

We need a new saga. The Tut thing was interesting early on, but it really hasn't gone anywhere and has only served to reinforce how greedy and shortsighted Phil is. But other than that he's been boring lately. Even his ten year retrospective thing didn't provide the kind of entertainment it had the potential to provide.

As much as he tells his viewers that his stream is a chill place without drama, he needs the drama to remain at all relevant. His ten year retrospective, something he had been hyping for a long time, only briefly cracked the 600 viewer mark. It takes a major event like a suspension to bring in any real views. Without the drama, we're left with someone who is terrible at streaming poorly playing video games he doesn't want to play.

He doesn't even try anymore--as soon as he is unsure of what to do, he's asking for help. Him failing repeatedly at a simple task will always be much more entertaining than stream chat handholding him. But he'd rather just be told what to do so he can finish the game as quickly as possible and move on to the next one. That's what "interactive" streaming is all about.

You can just pop into any one of his streams and hear a variation of "I don't know what to do" "I can't block" "Huh?" "I didn't know that!" without fail.

DSP needs to focus on talking more. He likes pro wrestling, right? Review those to make extra money. He's a much better talker than a video game player

I don't think he's capable of improving, not unless he suddenly rediscovers the passion he used to have. He seems to hate playing games and interacting with people, and in my opinion, almost every aspect of his work has gotten worse over the last couple years. Crashing and burning might be the best thing for him--better now than when he's too old and unhealthy to do anything else.

I wonder if Phil can even get a job now. He's been doing YouTube for 10 years and has no marketable skills to show for it.

I kind of wanted to tackle this:

He can get jobs, just not the job he wants that he has a degree for. The last 10 years he hasn't been developing his skills, nor gained relevant experience. And as you said, no marketable skills that would put him above any other applicants.

On top of that, if any company googles Phil prior to a job interview, I am pretty sure Phill will get a friensly call that he is not what they are looking, before he's had the chance to attend the interview. He is extremely racist (look at his Dead Space 2 playthroug), is extremely hostile towards others and prone to bouts of rage, has absolutely no sense of personal accountability, and of course the leg scratching incident.

There are jobs where none of that matters, but those are the jobs Phil will feel like he is too good for (burger flipping, trash collecting, etc). The job Phil wants and the salary he wants are going to be a hug step back from what he is making right now, but maybe in a few yeara of now, it'll be his harsh reality.

And to further my point how fucked he is, I am 100% convinced Phil has no money set aside for his retirememt. So even if he manages to land a job and start building a 401k, he is already 15 years behind.
