Sherlock episode 3 beated. Part of the episode was a loose adaptation of The Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans (it even uses the same name for the plans), but it's still closer to the source material than the first two episodes were.

the thumbnail says the video is 31 minutes long (which is how long it took me to beat it) but the actual video is only half that long so I don't know what's going on there since I've never really streamed or uploaded videos before

The game is fun so far! The controls are complex but still feel fairly intuitive. Combat feels kinda hectic, but Spidey has a lot of options for what he can do. Even at this point, I handled myself fairly well (although I died a few times to the boss), although it's easy to forget which button does what and press the wrong button in the middle of combat. But every button and every combination of buttons does something, it feels like.

I might stream some more of the mainline missions going forward if anyone is interested. I doubt I'll stream a lot of the sandbox stuff unless someone wants to see what that looks like. At the very least, I won't be streaming the whole thing.

Wow, you get free reign of the city pretty much right away after the opening mission in Spider-Man, which is kinda nice. There's tons of stuff to distract you, too, which is what you would expect from a sandbox game. Web slinging just feels so natural and good, and it even looks super fun and stylish.

Of course, there's plenty of Spidey banter, which is magical, especially between Spidey and Yuri Watanbe (voiced by Yosuke and Mitsuru, whose VAs are actually married in real life, to boot). You can find old Peter Parker backpacks around the city, which are basically used for nostalgia and references for fans of the comics like me, so that's neat. There are plenty of sidequests where you have to stop crimes in progress. I feel like these have the potential to get repetitive, but at the very least, they're usually pretty short and they give decent EXP.

also something with the potential to be addictive is that Spider-Man has a Twitter account that gets updated almost constantly as you're playing and there's a part of me that keeps wanting to check it to make sure I don't miss any dialogue

Oh God. I just beat the Thunder Plains maze cave after a couple of hours. There was a point where I completely lost track of the number of battles so I had to just keep attempting the code and adding +1 each time until it opened. Thank god there wasn't a boss at the end that could have killed me and wasted all that time. It did help me grind a lot of dresspheres at least.

Neat.

Finally finished Bloodborne NG++ and got the Platinum. Still was learning stuff until the very end. But it's definitely time for a break. And the scaling on NG++ was starting to feel a bit silly in the DLC so I feel like when/if I go back to it it'll be on a new character.

Less than a week until Future GotY Torna which is... not really enough time to start anything in the interim. The worst.

I've been watching the US Open on-and-off the past two weeks.

The Serena/Osaka championship match went from shaky, to really great before taking the hardest, sharpest turn to "yikes" I've seen in a long time.

I feel really bad for Osaka. She wins her first Grand Slam Title and it's going to be dominated by all the antics that happened. In a match I feel she was playing better and going to win anyway.

During a commercial that showed it, I thought - not for the first time - has there ever been a trophy downgrade as bad as college football? They went from the BCS Trophy to that boring thing they have now.

Yeah, that BCS crystal football was pretty great. I imagine they couldn't keep it because of the format change.

this year marks the 20th anniversary of the first season under the BCS when the Vols won the national championship

I still have a national championship cup they gave away after they won and I still use it to this day

This isn't exactly new but the battle theme for Torna was released a few days back and yo.

It's so good. Best Xenoblade normal battle theme I think. Mechanical Rhythm is the only thing having me hesitate. (Gormott Theme also released and also good but not battle theme good.) If you extend this out to all Xeno then Xenosaga III enters the convo too.

Good first week of fantasy! Still have the Lions D/ST tomorrow, but I'm literally 100 points ahead of the guy I'm playing (and I'm currently the highest scoring guy in our league regardless), so I shouldn't have to worry too much. I even had three 20+ point scorers on my bench (one of them was Luck and he barely outscored Russell Wilson, so that doesn't really matter, and Wilson would've outscored him if he had just gained two more yards passing anyway), but Adrian Peterson is looking like he was worth the late-round pickup, at least after one game!

Another great episode. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for (if you haven't read the VN don't read this because it hasn't appeared in the dub yet unless you're watching the subs then you have probably already seen it who knows) the reemergence of Hououin Kyouma because I know it's going to be amazing. I thought it would happen this episode, but not quite. Surely next episode though!
