Multiplayer bosses and what's still vulnerable to breaks, if you have a ice/lightning chain it can add to that as well if you wrath/flash disaster to build meter quickly.

i feel like Flash Disaster on Lightning is mainly for after using her USB2, since i think you can get in two sets of Flash Disaster x3 brave command in one Brave mode. so you'd probably wanna stick with IC3 TQS to build up meter for that unless you wanna hone it to rank 5.

...though that build you listed might be the best thing you can do without her USB2 in a difficult enough fight where you might need the stacking en-lightning.

Hm so I just realized for Lightning Magicite concerns I don't really have a viable person to break the physical Lightning Boss's enrage. How often do you need to do that and who are considerations for candidates? I realize most of you probably have Orlandu's OSB and just use him for this but I don't really want to grab his OSB.

I do have Queen's Overstrike which seems to be my only viable option unless I wanna bring in someone with a NE or Off Element Overstrike to try and brute force it (is this even viable?). Is bringing a generic 6* Spellblader entirely on overstrike duty viable here? I don't really wanna dive her even though her dive looks decent.

i think they intend you to use 5* magicite for everything that isn't earth-weak, starting with stone press to break enrage against Quez and Edge SSB to leave BK enraged. and then the dark version of stone press for holy since it isn't part of the circle. though i'm not totally sure what they want you to do against Madeen. i guess there's quite a few dark magic OSBs. or maybe there's a mini 4-magicite circle with holy and dark where you use Lakshmi against one dark boss, then that against Madeen, and Madeen against the other dark boss.

i'm not too worried about it now. i'm assuming they're all going to be really tough without chains anyway (except BK but i don't have Edge SSB either) and i only have one gen 1 and one gen 2. though i guess it can't hurt to try once i actually beat Hades.

I'm still struggling with Famfrit. The two main challenges are the beginning (surviving and getting enough SB for Ovelia's USB and Kain's chain early) and phase 3, where the combination of protect and silence is tough to handle. The big problem comes down to ability slots - I need at least one entrust from Ramza to make the early part of the fight work, but then I have to choose between Magic Breakdown to deal with Faith or Banishing Strike to deal with protect.

I used Orlandu in my attempt, his OSBs were capping with chain and imperils up, but even with that his TQSs were only doing like 6k per hit at best. Might be feasible if you have other good DPSers, but he's not gonna carry the fight by any means.

They only stay savage-broken for like 5 seconds, so an OSB-breaker won't be able to use their meter on anything else (unless you use a battery, which also isn't ideal)

If you're using Ixion as your main magicite for this fight he can use Aerospark while active which can dispell protect.

Thanks for the suggestion... tried that with 3 different teams but never even made it past the first two judges with the team changes I needed without godwall. This is one of the most annoying fights I can remember in this game.

Hmm. Yeah I dunno I thought their damage was manageable enough. Dancer with the Atk/Mag Breakdown should do some good work at reducing. I had no trouble surviving the first phase with a team of Rikku Tidus Setzer Auron Minwu. Which as for reliable breaks all I had was Full Break + Setzer Burst (same as the dance). Only really stacked higher on the second phase.

Running a back row team may help slightly? I did run full back row which may have had an effect. (I roaming warriored Eiko which I never used beyond the first cast to put a cautionary guts up (which never triggered) for the record)

I beat the judges with two summoners (Alph and Terra for Dualcasts.) OK as booster with 5-hit spells,Tyro with normal wall as an entrust bost and Selphie as healer.

I kill the first two Judges with summons, then when Gabranth is alone I use Auron USB RW, refresh OK's mUSB after the dispel, have Tryo use his BSB and have Alphinaud use his damage reflect.

My dps was actually good enough to go quite a bit further, but incoming damage was just too much, and Vanille (with BSB) couldn't keep up. Maybe if I had her doublecast LM2, but I'm not going to waste my precious 5* motes to find out.

Judges is literally the most annoying fight in the history of the game for me. Like some have been harder but they were either gil only rewards so you can just ignore them, or permanent content so you can just leave it until you get stronger. There are so many obnoxious things about this fight that I hate:

- the dialog that makes it annoying as hell to restart
- the blind on turn 3 that sometimes forces you to restart your run
- the interrupts
- the buff that only one USB in the entire game can overwrite
- the omni resist on Gabranth that makes your damage pathetically low
- the mechanic that kills your party if one judge takes too much damage (thank you 25% doublecast chance for making me wipe that run...)
- the fact that you can't retreat so you need to wait for them to kill you if you want to change your party.

I don't have a list offhand but I think you'll do fine if you just consider some rules of thumb:

- Double stack Dampen Element for each Element, by inheriting Dampen Element 10 onto the one that has it normally (so you don't have to spread it between slots and can just get your resist from one slot)
- Get an Evrae with HP Boon 5 and an Evrae with Fast Act 8
- Try to get 2-3 stacks of Boost Element 15 for each deck with your remaining 2 slots (Evraex2 and Dampener will take 3/5)
- Precise Strikes 8 is a strong support for a physical deck, Magic Boon 15 is strong for Magic.
- Try to get a Blade Ward 5 and Spell Ward 5 into every deck.

If you follow those rules you can kinda freestyle what specifically you need. This makes a lot of the decisions for you so you can't freestyle all that much. With that in mind, particularly if you don't use a drop tracker, my farming guide would be to get 8 copies of each dampen element and then do what you can with the inevitable extra copies you'll get of the other two as a start.

Get a drop tracker or use Kreeper because being at the mercy of RNG is just dreadful when farming magicite. Also you can probably dely dampen earth/holy because those elements aren't used much by bosses in general and Midgardsormr and Siren don't hit that hard for 4* magicite.

The Altema list was updated recently and Awakenings have finally shaken up the meta after 9~ months of stagnation (when Gen 2 chains debuted)

Some noticeable points-

Bartz is tied with Elara as best character in the game. Him, Terra and Sephiroth are the top 3 DPS currently.

Cloud is now third best wind DPS after Bartz and Zidane. Also Golbez is tied with him?!

Gen 2 chain value has increased further as every gen 2 chain is in the 90's-85, Gilgamesh being the exception at 80.

Penelo is 93 for some reason.

Yuffie dropped pretty hard from mid-90's to 80. Probably because Bartz and Tidus out DPS her now and they don't have to worry about their blinks.

you know, i paid so little attention to this i didn't even notice dampens were capped at 10 on 4* magicite. i just assumed it was 15 and that i'd need level 90s for inheritance.

Alright, FINALLY managed to take down the judges using Cloud and Zack cheese. Team was Cloud, Zack, Eiko (for the haste on her USB heal, which I need at the beginning of the fight and after Gabranth's dispel), Tyro for wall + entrust, Shelke for entrust, and Auron RW. Basically just powered up Cloud and used Chain+enWind+SOLDIER Mode+imperils to take out the first two judges with Tornado Strike. By the time I got to the last phase I was able to triple imperil Gabranth and hit him with Cloud's ASB. Slow and painful but it worked.

And, it's pretty sad if Noel with both USBs is worse than Squall with just a BSB. But I was forgetting I also have Squall's ASB so he definitely makes the team. So right now it's:

1. Healer slot
2. Laguna (CSB)
3. Squall (BSB2, ASB)
4. Celes (USB, LMR)
5. Maybe Noel? If I don't need some other utility for the fight.

Noel's always been more of a support character than a DPS like Squall. His USB1 is the one you're going to use more for instant imperils, USB2 is probably more for chain building.

I got a rainbow from the daily draw today, Nine's super. Augh the game keeps giving me Nine stuff even though he's a terrible character, but surpsingly I didn't have this one and it could be useful in torment as a slot saver so Rem/Deuce can use hastaga.

So I've been considering my needs and the You're Not Alone banner looks pretty good for a lot of reasons. Namely the Garnet USB/Burst would make her a lot more useful in my lightning teams, and Eiko's USB seems like a good tool to have if I want to do the FF9 Torment or if I want to radiant shield cheese the magic earth magicite (which seems like the easier method right now until I get a chain).

So with that in mind I don't think I want to get Vivi's USB here as I'd rather leave it as a possible get on that banner for now-- maybe pick it up with the next Ultra select. Question is what do I get instead? Maria USB still looks okay. I wish I could store the select to be honest.

Any particularly strong Ultras out there to consider that I may be overlooking?

still no 6* from the daily draw but i finally got a decent 5* - Deuce BSB. i think now if i pick Sarah's BSB from the archives that at least gives me a BSB heal in every realm except VIII, where Selphie's SSB is about as good as her BSBs.

also that probably moves me toward picking the Tidus BSB/OSB+Yuna BSB set for 500 gems. since ninjas are apparently not great against Phoenix, it's a water sword for Celes to use and a way to break savage mode.

On magic I'm weak on most elements for casters. My Ice is good, my Water is closer to passable than most I imagine just cause my Rydia is stacked and Water is weak for casters to begin with, and my Lightning is probably okay just cause I have Garnet's Lightning chain and Shantotto's USB as building blocks. Fire, Wind, and Earth have very little.

I can't beat Quetzacoatl or King Behemoth right now. Ashe might be worth considering but I honestly think she'll be on OSB duty for the water magicite anyway unless I can beat King Behemoth-- thing with King Behemoth is the most efficient route to beating him seems to be cheesing with Radiant Shield given my resources, but having a stacked Maria seems like it would be helpful there to go with a hybrid shield cheese/some damage approach-- or as the long game as if I get hers plus Vivi's I could probably take him.

I mean Vivi's still worth considering but thinking Maria might be better for now and I can get Vivi as my second pick if I roll empty on You're Not Alone! in a month.

As for Xuxon's list:

Don't want: OK, Vayne, Rosa
Have: Shantotto, Ovelia, Rinoa
Poor investment probably: Laguna (ice is p stacked)

Leaving...
Maria (yeah she's good)
Bartz (honestly don't think he's going to give me a ton of utility. I'm fairly okay on his phys elements)
Relm (don't think she adds a lot for me right now aside from practically making D??? of FFVI a lay-up)

I didn't realize IX was coming up so soon. I'm totally broke on Mythril and I want to pull in the XIV banner too :(

Anyway yeah, if you don't wan to take Vivi now (which makes sense) then I think Maria is your best choice. Ashe is good but Maria's is more powerful, and you're meant to beat the lightning Magicite before you move on to water, and as an added bonus it's a +earth bow while Ashe's isn't +lightning (or maybe RS locked, but definitely not unlocked)

I'd go with Ashe's since Geo's savage mode is just 35% damage reduction (as opposed to Quetz' 50%) and with a gen 2 chain you can out muscle it with high hit count, which should be easy with Shantotto USB and Ashe's chases. You can probably juggle both the USB and OSB with gathering storm and the high meter gain of Voltech/Chain Thundaja (or maybe not even need the OSB at all with enough dualcasts.)
