Yeah I kinda wish I got Edge SSB in that old BSB/SSB select we got a long time ago. Not even sure what I got from it but it couldn't possibly have been as useful as Edge's SSB has potential to be. Edge is even a character I like so yeah definitely not sure what I was doing there.

Was this a gem-only thing? Like, I feel like I would have been kicking myself for not selecting Edge SSB, but I don't have any memory of passing it over.

Got Seifer's BSB2 on the daily

This is officially the new best relic I've drawn. Still not sure I'll ever use it but it's at least potentially useful for the Darkness Radiant Shield as opposed to the stat sticks the other ones have been.

I used my god-Rem (literally everything except the SSB + fully moted) for the Yiazmat solo clear.

Once I realized I needed Curada to survive until the BSB was ready, things went smoothly. BSB command 1 spam for constant 400k-900k damage. With the USB up, you get ridiculous speed. Yiazmat died shortly after his first 49,999 attack, around the 1:30 mark.

I tried Yiazmat once with Rafa BSB+USB, got him down to <5%. She couldn't keep up enough DPS at the end so I ended up eating a third 49999 attack. I wanted to finish him once just for completion's sake, but considering I'm sitting on 200M gil with nothing to really spend it on, I think I'll just pass.

There are enough challenge quests in this game that I don't particularly find interest in doing ones that only give me gil. At least give me music.

Celes being stacked + just getting Cloud USB2 allows me to run Midgarsomr with an actual wind team and do a 25s clear without a chain using Celes Cloud Yuffie Sarah Mog. Pretty cool! If I ever get a wind chain wind might actually be one of my stronger elements when it's historically been far and away my weakest.

100 gemmed something significantly less valuable in Shelke's Burst. Not sure I'll ever use it. Seems like if using Shelke you'd rather just enthrust bars anyway. Guess it boosts lightning at least.

The FF4 torment is an ironic problem for me, I have the defense covered with Rosa and Edge, and Edward BSB for a boostga, but no actual native DPS characters besides Edge USB but this boss apparently gobbles up blinks so I'd be better off with USB0. Second best DPS after that is... Rydia BSB2 and Tellah's super (ugh)

Also reconsidering getting King's USB instead of Maria's on the USB dream select since I got Prompto's chain. I can make a anti-Famfrit team with King, Prompto, Lightning, OK and (hopefully) Elara.

Also I'm so conflicted on what to pick on the Legend Materia dream select now! Seymour, Strago or Prompto's doublecast... Damn that Dena intern who snubbed us of the LM dream select for a BSB select in August!

For USB select the main ones I'm considering are Shantotto (leaning toward her), Vivi, Porom, or Relm.

Main arguments for Shantotto: Lightning Magicite is coming soon, I already have her chain so she's already on my lightning team, and because she's a witch she will (in 2 months) get her own 6* lightning spell so she doesn't have to fight with Ashe over Chain Thundaja. Biggest arguments against Shantotto: witches are only useful in 2 elements, and having her chain already means I probably need to entrust her to be able to do both.

Vivi: Probably the strongest option overall, and also one of my favorite characters. I already have both LMRs (and the first one is strong for off-element). Biggest reason not to is that it appears on a couple other banners in the next few months.

Porom: More versatile than Shantotto, specializes in lightning, and not on the banners where I would draw for Vivi's stuff. And would help some with IV torment. But overall I don't like him that much and he competes with Vivi (and others) for abilities.

Relm: Instantcast, and would help me on the VI torment where I think I'm pretty close to being able to clear d???. But the downside is no last stand, and it more or less becomes obsolete if I get Elarra's next time (I'm pretty sure I'm going for either Elarra or Aerith on the next one).

Other... maybe Kain? I have his Chain and I know the two apparently make a strong combo. I'd like some others like Zidane or Vaan but I can't really justify them here.

Finally got unlazy enough to work on a magicite, Mist Dragon down (40s) and I got Unicorn

Cloud (USB, BSB3)
Seifer (CSB)
Shelke (battery)
Yuffie (Glint)
Elarra (USB)

Could probably get this down faster by honing Shadow Embodied to R4 and Entrust to R2 (Cloud lost damage cap boost for a good chunk of time that Shelke could have saved). Probably should put Lifesiphon on Seifer as well to ensure I always have a chain going. Working on Shadow Dragon setup now, I think I could probably bypass the fang and win solely with TGC and Raines, with two batteries for support.

Also, I changed by RW to Auron USB1 for anyone still looking to get past Gabranth in Pharos.

You will be much happier to clear shit using Vivi instead of Porom and probably miscast for your needs-- she's not a very good lightning specialist as the holy lightning white magic doesn't exist yet

I also kinda think Shantotto USB isn't very strong right now. It'll probably be good once we get better witch skills but as someone who has it I find it very overrated currently. Unless you actually like Shantotto I'd probably recommend Palom over her.

Relm vs Elarra is similar to Vivi (would you draw on the Elarra banner if it was replaced with a dupe)

I did a pull with 30 mythril and 1200 gems since banner 5 seems good. Got 1/11, my 4th copy of Aphmau's BSB. I only had 2 dupes on the banner. How is it even possible to have as terrible luck as I've had this fest? I thought last fest was bad, but this one was much much worse.

Oh man now you know how I felt when I did the mixed pull and got 1/11 Penelo BSB dupe, Except I used more gems and the more you use the more it stings. This game really needs a weeding system to get rid of dupes like this.

Also Shantoto's USB is actually really good now since Witch's multiplier got buffed, and there's another lightning magic chain user (who can use Allegro con Moto to boot) and Elara USB (who can also us Allegro)

Hmm speaking of odd RNG the giant cactuars in the orbfest didn't drop black crystals for me in the last 3 days yets I got Black Crystal drop from Dr. Lugae when that's are like a 5% chance.

Ah well, I got 100+ black crystals right now, I could r5 Meltdown or Chain Fiaja/Stonja right now, but I'm probably gonna hold them till November when Chain Wataja comes out so I can r4 it right away.

Buff is nice but think it's still kinda weak compared to the standard doublecast mages. It'll probably be competitive when the 6* witch stuff comes out but that's well after the magicite comes out so it defeats the point of getting something for her with aims to beat the magicite. Might as well just get one of the better ones.

I scrapped together a final 50 mythril and got a shitty 1/11 Shantotto Glint for it. Why couldn't it at least be empowered infusion?

Thanks... yeah, I'm 95% sure I'll go for Vivi. With his USB he instantly becomes my best water mage too and he might even pass Rinoa to be my #2 earth mage (although I'm not so sure about that one)... anything that makes those Magicite clears less painful would be nice.

Now I also need to pick a LMR. Originally I was thinking Celes but I'm not using her quite as much as I thought. Recently I started thinking about OK... I've always used Ramza as my main buffer but I did pick up his pUSB somewhere along the line in a lucky draw or ROP. For lightning Magicite especially he seems good since we'll be getting the 5* lightning celerity ability around then and he has doublecast celerity in his dive. Plus it's just a really good LM. Any others I should consider? Zidane 2 would be nice but it's not needed for like 5 months.

a lot of chain holders have LMRs that are good for them. and i'm assuming you don't have Ignis BSB but if you did that's probably a better pick than OK unless you also have OK's mUSB. same with Tyro if you have godwall.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm going Vivi too with that awesome FF2 banner coming down the line making Minwu Ultra 2 less appealing to grab now. I actually kinda like You're Not Alone! banner 2 but without Vivi's Ultra on it it's a non pick (and IIRC you dislike Kuja so that removes a lot of its appeal). That ability double banner looks nice too but I drew Celes's ability doubler and we're not even sure to get it, or the earlier one, so meh.

I actually already have Tyro's LMR but no godwall, and it's not that high of a priority for me. As for chain wielders, let's see what's actually available for the chains I have:

Galuf 1 (monk doublecast) - have
Red 1 - useless
Shantotto 1 (witch triplecast) - decent
Kain 1 (spear damage) - decent
Tidus 1 (enWater) - have 3 copies
Rinoa 1 (magic ramp up) - useless
Laguna 1 (20% imperil) - decent
Zack (wind chase) - have
WoL 1 (attack ramp) - useless
Seifer 1 (attack ramp) - have/useless

So yeah, three of them would be kinda useful but I don't really see any of them being at the same level as Celes or OK. I dunno, maaaybe Kain.

I'm more interested in the sooner ability double banner because of Tifa, and my Quetzalcoatl run is really painful right now. But on that one I already have two dupes (of just the 6*, not looking at the other stuff) and it's probably better to just go for a sure thing now. (If Tifa were an option on this select banner I think I'd just go for her and then hope to get Vivi later)

woo i managed to beat Yiazmat! without Ashe, Rem or Yda. did it with Orlandu of all characters. super slow fight, just over 3 minutes in game and like 40 IRL, but it got the job done - he can heal with command 2 when needed, do most of the damage with command 1, and then in the final phase, burst down quickly with the USB and assault saber. also needs to keep the OSB up for his slow as shit burst commands. don't think i needed the LMR to beat the enrage but it certainly helped my nerves and made the earlier parts go a bit quicker. i used dread weapon in my other slot in the beginning before i could build up SB meter.

Got Squall BSB2 on the daily draw today

First daily I'm legit excited to grab (I highly considered earlier burst select picks on this). I could see this getting some use down the line even if for all the ice bosses so far snowspell strike spam + glint + arcane has been sufficient.

Yeah, BUT. I have Celes's USB and her LMR is good too. For OK I only have his pUSB and the only place where he's a significant upgrade for me right now is my physical lightning team. If I ever get his USB3 then I'll really wish I had his LMR.

Celes's would help me on physical wind and physical ice and maybe physical fire too. Plus I like her. But in the long run its power level probably isn't as high. Ugh, I'm really agonizing over this.

OK's most likely always going to be one of the strongest characters in the game so he's the safer pick, there's going to be more USB selects and opportunities to get his USBs in the future. And it's two instants casts on one of the most versatile characters in the game what's not to like?

Thanks Lopen. I think Celes is the one I want more. BTW anyone know how necessary it is to have an OSB against Geosgaeno? Can you just rely on your Magicite to end Savage mode? I don't really want to spend $30 on an OSB, but I'm thinking about it since I have none for that team.
