Can you not find it, or is there a message appearing that says it's not in the area?

If it's the former it's around northwest of Strawberry, in that really sparse gray forest.

If it's the latter, then there's some event in the area overriding it, like a gang camp. Clear it out and return later.

Im getting a message saying I cant track it because theres too much activity.

I cleared the gang camp, slept overnight, took a wagon all the way to Valentine and back, sleeping each way, and still say the same message.

I want that charm, dammit.

I can't get the message for the legendary alligator to appear at all usually the spot they Mark as it's finishing spot and not it's starting spot so maybe I'm just in the wrong area

Unless it's like the Panther and you cant actually get it until you Progress challenges to a certain point

so I encountered these two guys driving with a woman in a cage in the back. she called fir help so I killed the guys and released her

she went to thank me but when I tried to talk to her, I still had my gun out so instead if bringing up the interact menu for her it just aimed my gun at her and she ran off

weird how they're the same button

Yeah that happened to me when I saved those construction workers. I ended up having to Kill Them All.

What's particularly weird is when it happens when I'm positive I put my gun away.

The worst is in van horn when the drunks challenge me to duels or fistfights and the entire town decides they want to try to shoot up when it's done

have you done the story mission the Legendary Gator appears in yet? It won't show up to kill until after that.

I encountered one of those guys who challenges you to a shooting contest and after the first part I was trying to reload my gun but ended up assaulting him instead because they're on the same button.

And then there was the time where I thought you had to press Circle to cancel out of the horse menu, and I ended up punching my horse in the ass. He kicked me in the face for it and I almost died.

I reloaded last night after I got on my horse in saint denis and was immediately run over by a tram car and my horse died

the first horse I bought immediately just sort of disappeared. I don't know if he died or got stolen or what, I just couldn't ever find him again

Even stables were a no go? You can recover any non dead horse that way.

also I really wish there was any other way to lose bounty besides paying it, because I have a $300 bounty in Valentine in chapter 2

It's called getting 30 gold bars

You can lose a bounty by committing a minor crime and then surrendering I think. Doesn't always work because sometimes you get broke out of prison.

I've got like $5000 and already bought every camp upgrade and an awesome horse and like all the guns and outfits

bounties are nothing to me

It's so annoying that they don't track which plants you've picked for Herbalist 9. Especially since they do track which horses you've broke and fish you've caught for Horseman 10 and Survivalist 10. It's also annoying that it's more or less the only challenge that's completely impossible to do until you can go back to Blackwater.

Went exploring in the South where youre Wanted Dead or Alive.

Died, and when I respawned I was on a generic Tennessee Walker, and my horse was gone from the stables :(

Edit: Also a couple of my guns are gone. The pre-order pump shotgun, which is fine, but also my tricked out Lancaster Repeater :/

I feel dumb. After chapter 5..

I walked all the way to Shady Belle instead of stealing the horse because I didn't want to lose honor or get a bounty. I had to restart the mission and went all the way back to where you land. That time I stole the horse, though. Great music sequence I missed. A little disappointed though that going through the back door doesn't change the dialog of the Pinkertons who find footprints outside. I mean I guess someone else might have been there recently, but I was hoping going through the back door and leaving no footprints for them to find would have changed dialog. Not a big deal, but a tad disappointed.

I haven't left Chapter 2 yet. There's a lot wrong with this game, and it reminds me of why I quit playing Grand Theft Auto 4. Everything is stiff and overly deliberate.

I do kind of agree to this, maybe to a lesser extent.

There's a ton going on, but the little things hold it down from being as fun as it could be. Things like looting, cooking/crafting, cores, horse management, etc. ultimately end up slowing things down more than I'd like.

The worst thing is trying to navigate the map though. Tapping to run/gallop/row is such a bad mechanic, especially when fast travel is so limited so you have to ride almost everywhere. Every time I play I can feel my thumb cramping up from just tapping X over and over before, during, and after every mission.

This is probably the only thing I'd change about the game. I have to constantly mash the X button every single time I'm on my horse. It sucks because sometimes I want to look at the scenery while also going as fast as I can, so I have to awkwardly move the right stick while continuing to mash the X button. A toggle ON/OFF would be great.

I found it a lot better when I realized once you're at the speed you're comfortable with you only have to press X occasionally. You don't even lose stamina if you time it right.

I just set my route get the horse going on the path and then change it to cinematic mode and let It go automatically

and you can't even use stagecoaches if you have a bounty on you, which is easy to get. Hell, half the time I feel like missions force me to gain bounty.

So... is there a way to get into a locked door that doesn't involve loud noises? There are a couple of buildings people have hinted at, but there doesn't seem to be a way in that won't end in a bloodbath of adorable Australian Shepherds and dopey cowboys.

I have a lockpick I don't remember where but it seems pretty quiet

you can't sneak into the locked rooms in stores

what you have to do is find out about the illegal side business from just poking around the store or from helping people escape capture when you see them on the road (tied down or in cages), they will usually give you a hint for the robbery

then you go into the store and rob them, instead of robbing the register you rob their side business

you'll almost certainly get a bounty from this but most of the time it's worth it

Naw, I'm trying to break in, not rob a side business. Specifically, I'm trying to get into the saloon and the general store at Emerald Ranch. I saved a stranger, and there was someone else after a mission who said something.

it has a lot of good stuff in it but it feels very much like less than the sum of its parts.
