Sub-Zero has always been a decent way above Scorpion for whatever reason.

But yeah, aesthetics helps Sub-Zero there. Plus, his ice attacks are just way more fun in general. Scorpion has the spear, but that's about it.

No knock on Sub-Zero though. I like em both. The weird thing to me is that there are a lot of people who would go Sub-Zero > ? > Scorpion. I have trouble doing that with Scorpion > ? > Sub-Zero. Usually I'll vote both ninjas or neither over a guy.

I guess Auron next round is probably an example though?

Eh, I like Scorpion and I'd vote him over a lot of the characters in the contest, but there's a pretty clear gap between him and Sub-Zero for me. Auron is also a good example for me. I'll be voting for Subby next round, but I'd vote Auron over Scorpion (and I did in 2004!).

I'm kinda disappointed in Simon Belmont here. But maybe it's because I understimated Rosalina, who I thought was well into fodder territory. I guess not. Who should be the favorite next round, assuming both Geralt and Bayonetta face each other? I would favor Bayonetta for sure, but what do you guys think?

Also, it's interesting to see that Magus is worth more on Auron now than he was on Alucard eight years ago. I think FFX in general has fallen in popularity since 2013... I thought that was likely the case after seeing Yuna get crushed a few days ago, but now I'm pretty convinced it's true now.

Squall seems to have fallen, too, which means....*drumroll*.... Tifa is most likely the strongest Square character outside of Cloud, Sephiroth, and Crono. Well, either her or Vivi. Vivi has exceeded his x-stat expectations so we can't count him out yet, but I'm betting on Tifa being the stronger of the two. Maybe I'm being too quick to judge, though, and that we might find Squall will be right on par with Tifa after all.

I'm actually on the fence with Auron vs Sub-Zero. Pretty sure I voted Sub-Zero last time but this time I'm feeling Auron. Would probably come down to the pic.

One reason why Pac-Man is doing well is because we are forced to vote in all four matches. Typical Pac-Man matches have low vote totals because while people may recognize him they don't exactly love (or hate) him, but since they have to vote in all the matches, they just give him the vote.

This also explains why characters like Spyro, Donkey Kong and Crash have also performed well.

Yes, I totally agree! I'm feeling pretty good about my Crono > Mega Man pick. I wonder if Frog can break 40% on Luigi? Frog got like 37% on Bowser a few years ago...

Yes, I agree with you charmander about Pac-Man being stronger because of that... add to that Smash, too, and he's a completely different animal compared to a few years ago. I'm not 100% sure on FFX dropping because Tidus was right where he was expected to be relative to Leon... maybe DK's good performances really could be all him.

Yeah, probably. There's still Charmander, Blastoise, maybe one of the legendary birds, Mew, Bulbasaur, to name a few. I don't think just any of the original 151 would be worth seeing though.

I didnt even want to name the Pokemon choices because you can go with a bunch of them (other starters, Legendary Birds, Snorlax, Dragonite etc)

I do still think Yuffie would be the strongest FF character left though, if only from having the most exposure, with being in KH and all. Although I can see the argument for Red XIII, everything else seems pretty meh though unless recent VI strength leads to like, Edgar or Mog being decentish but I feel mixed about that idea

Well yeah, we're down to three remaining playable FFVII characters, and we've gotten the major ones from the other games in at this point. Plus, as we've seen, the new games just don't have the strength.

I did attempt to get Misty into the contest by trading some of my nominations for Misty. Of course, I probably should have also posted a nomination rally topic.

And yeah, I made the case for Misty during the nomination period by saying that she should draw more strength from outside the games since most people who played the Gen 1 games has likely also watched the Gen 1 anime too. At the very least, she would be well above N's level in strength. Gen 1 factor would prevent Misty from being weaker than N, but I wouldn't expect Misty to be stronger than Red.

Pictures would be a problem for Misty as Allen would have most likely chosen a picture from the games. Misty needs an anime picture to maximize her strength. If game artwork had to be used, then the FRLG artwork of Misty would be the best option to use.

This Sub-Zero performance probably isn't even that good. Yuna got 62.15% on Claire in 2013. I figured Yuna might have overperformed there due to overlap and people wanting the most effective target to anti-vote Master Chief but this Sub-Zero/Claire match looks pretty in line with that result. The x-stats say Sub-Zero wins with 65.76% and he's currently only a percent above that.

Yeah UBW Anime Series, which is the only Fate property anime that Archer's been in that people actually like, came out in 2014-2015.

Saber probably is more interesting though even if Archer's better. She was in Fate/Zero as well which would give her even more coverage.
