Lets say Im cooking both Mac and cheese and cheesy garlic chicken. If I put them in the oven together, will their flavors mix? If that makes any sense...

Idk about garlic chicken, but I love making ground beef and Kraft Dinner(Canadian mac and cheese) and their flavors mix, fucking delicious.

So you're like putting them on the same pan and sticking them in the oven? Idk, chicken juice and garlic might spill over to the mac n cheese i'm guessing.

It should be fine. Some foods are particularly good at picking up smells and flavours from the air, but that's mostly really porous stuff, not chicken/pasta. That's also usually more applicable to raw stuff sitting in cupboards/fridges together for several days, not stuff that's being cooked for less than an hour. The only really strong smell/flavour in there would be the garlic, and it's not impossible that you might get a hint of that in your mac & cheese, but it won't be enough to be a problem (that, and garlic in mac & cheese isn't necessarily a bad thing).

I can imagine it being like when you toss a few cords into a box and then pull them out a few days later.

You're going to open the oven door and find the chicken inexplicably mixed in with the mac and cheese.

Lol Tc have u ever cooked a meal your entire life <_<

The flavours dont mix unless theyre in the same pot or pan. Just being in the same oven doesnt make the flavours mix

You could have some cross flavor contamination if they are in open containers, but if they are covered you will have none at all. Heck even if only one of them is covered.

But why did you?

Oh. Well, yesterday we had potluck at work. I was going to bring something, there was no real direction on where I would take it to keep it warm. So, I had the ingredients. But didnt make the food. While I was helping set up, I heard they talking about needing more food and such. So, I told them I could make something. But I didnt have much time. So, I was thinking about making both dishes at the same time. But realized I wouldnt have time. So, I ended up only making one. Tbh, I may have been able to get away with 2. Maybe...

It seems like more are saying they do sort of mix. Well, uncovered, at least.

The truth is yes you can and no, there wouldn't be any flavor crossover.

There is the issue of whether to increase the cooking time or the cooking temp to account for 2 dishes.
