...they are afraid of getting in bed with someone they find hot, and finding out they are trans. They are afraid of being "tricked" and therefore want to force trans people back into the closet.

Additionally, people with sexual hangups get anxiety about being aroused by a transperson (regardless of how they look) and project that frustration in the form of hate speech.

Nobody wants to admit it, but these are the real reasons people attack the trans community. It has nothing to do with bathrooms or boobjobs.

I remember not liking gays cause I thought they were gross. Then I thought about it, and realized I was being stupid. This happened when I was 12.

I've never stopped any of these things from happening, yet I do find trans people to be quite tedious as a demographic. Does that make me anti trans?

There was definitely an article or two about some lesbians at pride in Brighton, Sussex with some anti trans banners. I'll see if I can find the article later.

Eh, not quite, there's quite a few anti-trans straight women out there too. Their source of resentment seems to be born out of feeling "threaten" by MtF specifically due to;

Being able to make themselves look "ideal" while footing all of it on potentially free "medical needs" surgery.
Previous masculine body type and build allows them to dominate at women's sports.
Then there's the whole restroom thing, namely that it was women freaking out over MtF's "sneaking into" their restrooms moreso then men worrying about FtM in theirs.
And of course you have your religious fundies.

You'd also be surprised to know that there's a sub-section of the LGB community that loathes trans folks, and not just for the same "trickery" mentioned in the topic so far, but also because said LGB don't like the idea of the T "stealing their limelight" when it comes to social progress. Hell, some of those same anti-trans LGB? They're some of the biggest advocates of "trans are actually pedos" if *only* because they're trying to throw some of that child-molester stereotype off of themselves, they especially love using the "going to grab your kid in the restroom stall" angle, and they've had a field day with the whole "kids identifying as trans before 18" thing because it implies that the trans community is championing "sexually aware and active" minors.

Straight men might make up the most violent portion of transphobes, but they're not the only vicious and vile one.

This sort of attitude is exactly why a lot of people don't want to engage with the trans community though.

It is a vocal minority. You can't deny that without being completely deluded.

I agree as well.

My biggest areas of concern, however, is how much time and money is spent on such a small minority of people. That, and I really don't understand how it is not considered a mental issue with many people. There is no physical ailments, should it not be a mental ailment? (I should note: There is nothing wrong with that. People are different - we need to look into real treatments instead of attempting band aids though as even after transition, there are still issues that will often never be solved).
