Yeah they don't like being carried which makes sense since they're prey.

I spend most of my time with them at night. When I get home from school I hang out with them for a while before working on my homework. Plus I work in my room where they live so they're exposed to me a lot.

Do you have them up whilst you lay on your bed? or in a chair?

The latter can get Stribe to nibble at me as well, since thats not a flat surface shes on at that point.

So they aren't living with each other right now. Haven't introduced them since Tuxedo's been healing from his surgery hes p much fully recovered but just want to give him another day or so before I re-introduce them.

I set up my bed early in the morning so that way Tuxedo can run around and have more space so he is there for the majority of the day. Brownie on the other hand resides in the playpen I set up in my room.

The playpen can fit me laying down so Brownie usually will run around me and try to climb me, sometimes lay down on my stomach. When I lay on my bed when Tuxedo is around though he'll squeak at first but then calm down but not really interact with me. Except for nibbling my fingers which he does a lot now.

Ahh well that i dont know if i can help with.

But there are dedicated guinea pig sites that should.

I have heard stories about some guinea pigs not liking human attention, but ive (thankfully as i need it) never encountered it myself

Then again All 6 guinea pigs we have had (plus the 5 babies when my sister wanted one of hers to have babies) where from the same place.

Don't have to worry about him not liking people since he honestly likes my grandma more than he likes me lol. Guess he just has to get used to me again.

Probably figures that since I'm the one who took him to the big bad scary vet that he can't fully trust me. He eats from my hand fine most of the time though.

Maybe. I wish you luck.

Or.. since you said he cant be in the same cage as the other yet, that might be why.

Ive also heard something about guinea pigs not wanting to be with other people if they arent fully healthy.

Thats definitely nothing i have experience with

Aside from having to put Pjuske to sleep last year, the worst ive experienced recently is having these 2 Sprayed for mites. Dont think i ever saw them complain over that, despite how agressive it looked to me. Guinea pigs dont like having their fur petted the wrong way.

The purring noise they make when you pet them is my favorite animal noise.

If its purring thats something i think is a bad sign (IE i dont like this), but there is a comfortable grunting noise Teddie makes, that could be confused for purring.

And she only makes it when relaxed and petted.

My guinea pigs also make a purring or chortle sound while Im petting them. Its similar to the sound they make when theyre startled or annoyed, but not quite the same, and I can also tell from their body language that theyre relaxed and happy.

Surprised I was mentioned here sorry for posting late.

But yeah guinea pigs are pretty cute and fun to hang around with. Both of mine are still getting used to me although I've made loads of good progress with them. I want to introduce them but still want to be as informed as possible before I do. Anyways here are my piggies!

Very cute piggies, Im glad you posted. That stinks that Tuxedo has been skittish since the vet visit. Ive never had an issue like that so Im not sure what the best way to handle it is. Itll take some patience and gentle care to get Tuxedo comfortable again, but Im sure you can do it.

Tulbo was the loudest.

Every time the fridge was opened (like 10-15 meters away) she jumped up on the house and started squeaking.

Guinea Pigs do argue occasionally.

One of them makes the purring sound (we liked to call it cooing.. like a Dove) and the other makes a squealing noise.

It is uncommon, but i think they just need to argue a bit here and there.

Cant be sunshine and rainbows all the time.

Ya, I have no clue how that plays out I wouldn't suggest leaving them alone, unless maybe if they grew up together. But as a Cat person, I know that some cats really are chill. But all cats and people get triggered, and if even for a second it would suck for the Guinea just because they can't fight back...if even just to chill things out. I know nothing about this, but that's what my instincts tell me.

I have a lover not a fighter cat, so he'd probably okay...once he got over the WTF factor.
As it is, he'll sit among back yard birds feeding and just kinda watch and not get involved.

Be very careful, you can let them interact with cats but only while supervised at all times. A while back I had a guinea pig who managed to chew her way out of her cage, and my roommates cat attacked her and she ended up losing an eye. It was pretty awful

damn.. glad she survived atleast. Yeah other animals plus guinea pigs shouldnt be done unsupervised

My moms dogs wont harm guinea pigs intentionally but that doesnt mean they couldnt accidentally push them on the floor.

Also both have been used to guinea pigs from early puppy stage

Yeah, accidental injuries can happen even if the other animal isnt aggressive towards piggies. Ive read that you shouldnt house rabbits with guinea pigs because rabbits back legs are strong enough to easily hurt a guinea pig by mistake.

Our first guinea pig was used to be housed with Rabbits.. Got her from a family that couldnt take care of her anymore i think it was (my mothers, brothers wifes cousin, i think).

She was fine and healthy, had her for 3,5 years, and as she had had babies before, she musta hit an age of 5 or 6 easily.

Only consequence of that, was that she did NOT like the new guinea pig we got... at all (Mulle didnt like Tulle) and therefore had to be kept in another cage, 2 cages right next to eachother.

Aside from that Mulle, was a very relaxed and content piggy. So the time we had said Uncles family visiting with their dog, Mulle didnt care, drank a bit, looked up at the dog (whilst chewing her water), then drank some more.

I swear my guinea pig had some anti-social disorder or something. He never was very affectionate, though sometimes I think I wasn't a very good owner. Maybe it had something to do with the fact he had no fellow guinea pig to be with. I don't know. He was pretty funny besides the issues with affection, though. Loved basil, it was like candy to him and he would make enthusiastic noises whenever he smelled it.

As you might've guessed from the past tense, he died pretty naturally ~7 years ago. He was 5 years old, got him because I wanted to have rodent pets and he was the first, and soon got dwarf hamsters not long after him. The year and a half with the hamsters and the five years with him was certainly an experience. I decided against getting rodents after that, for various reasons.

Also had two cats and a dog at the same time. One cat didn't care, the other would watch the rodents but not really do much because she's a wimp and kept getting her paw bitten whenever she put it through the cage. We got the dog after the hamsters died, so she had plenty of time to get to know the guinea pig. My dog would never think of hurting him (or anyone else).

Hilariously enough, when she was a puppy she managed to get herself into the guinea pig cage (I had the cage door open, but didn't think it was big enough for a puppy to fit through). She sat on the igloo looking pitiful because she didn't know how to squeeze out. Meanwhile, the poor guinea pig was confused, hiding in the igloo that was being sat on and kept on looking up. Stupidly enough, we didn't think to take a picture of that moment (we were kind of in a rush: worried about the dog getting bitten), and a week later she grew too big to fit herself into the cage again, hahaha.

@M-Watcher it is the case that some guinea pigs are just less social than others. Of the two I have now, one is much more personable than the other. Thats just how it goes. And thats hilarious that your puppy got in the cage, its too bad you didnt take a picture of that moment

they're cute and taste great

I know youre probably joking, but Ive actually tried guinea pig meat once. I was on a trip to Peru and one of the places we visited had it on the menu. Guinea pigs are somewhat of a traditional food there in the Andes mountains. It tasted pretty good tbh.

no, I wasn't joking, I live in peru and occasionally eat guinea pig

No shit? I really enjoyed my trip there. I visited Lima, Arequipa and Cusco as well as the ruins at Machu Picchu. Lots of cool stuff.
