She's got huge... vote totals!

Two blowouts but somehow everyone turned out to vote today. I wasn't even around to bump! Is this the power of Monty Python and the Holy Grail? Somehow a bigger blowout than Forrest Gump > Life is Strange and I'd argue that Firefly would be stronger than LiS. Are we looking at our future champion?

In our other match we saw Sonic effortlessly take down Mario in the Mario v Sonic match that I gave you when Allen and CJayC wouldn't. Put me in charge of Character Battle XI and not only will you see a real Sonic vs Mario match but also Serious Sam v Mr. Driller II, the rematch we've been waiting for for over 17 years!

I'm a little surprised Sonic blew Mario out so hard. For a while YouTube poops were everywhere, and making Mario say GAY LUIGI was the dominant for of, uh, "entertainment" on the internet.

Not to mention that a lot of the iconic Sonic quotes like "gotta go fast" and "that's NO good" are actually from cartoons! It seems people don't care. Not that it matters much because whoever won match 2 was going to go up against Monty Python and get blo-I'LL MAKE YOU EAT THOSE WORDS

Our closest match since Castlevania/Always Sunny and our latest one-vote-wonder! This contest is becoming surprisingly entertaining. For me, at least.

Now the doctor came in, stinking of gin, and proceeded to lie on the table. He said, "Venkman, you met your match."

The Beatles shot out the gate with 4 consecutive votes, and I thought for sure the Beatles was some kind of surprise juggernaut and people just forgot every classic Ghostbusters quote. But then Ghostbusters fired back with its own 4 votes and the lead was literally back and forth up until the last post. It's cool to see matches like this in a "Most Quotable" contest of all things. I would have been happy with either result but it's cool to see one of our few Music entries get to round 2.

Are we going to see Futurama ride this crushing victory all the way to finals, or did I fuck up the bracket and make Monty Python v Futurama way too early? Something tells me Futurama could easily beat those trained professionals.

So what I'm thinking for Most Quotable II:

-I'm going to pull out the 7 division winners and the champion of MQI and put them in their own bonus bracket
-The winners of the bonus polls I've been making are going to automatically get 1 nom so that they'll be in the vote-ins no matter what and also get more visibility during the nomination period
-I'm going to take the winners of every 10 bonus polls and throw them into a mega bonus poll. The winner of the mega bonus poll will get 2 noms automatically so they get a spot in the bracket no matter what.
-I'm going to post the shit out of the nomination database so that people have a better idea of what to nominate right away. also going to expand the noms to 15. will probably put everything that didn't make it out of their brackets back in the database and mark off how many wins they have so people know what might have been robbed of a victory or what already had a shot.

any other ideas? I don't want to expand the bracket to 128 but I guess it's an option if there's enough interest.

also, when should I do it? 6 months from now? sooner? I don't want to milk everything out of this idea and then nobody cares.

You could use any combo of Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Final Fantasy X for FF games. I'm not sure which KH game you'd want to use. Probably the original. I guess you could throw in KH2 for good measure just to fill out the poll. I'm not sure if there's a good Dragon Quest game for that since I don't play DQ.

Maaaaaaaaaybe Nier Automata. I suppose there's Chrono Trigger, too. The World Ends With You? Not sure if Deus Ex, Hitman, or Tomb Raider are considered quotable or not, but they do technically own those now, too.

Hitman isn't Square-Enix anymore, though. Also, I'm not sure if there's any one Dragon Quest game that stands out above the rest; for all the series' virtues, quotable is not something I generally think of it as. I guess the first Dragon Quest is probably the best choice, for things like "A Slime draws near! Command?"

For fighting game franchises, I don't suppose Super Smash Bros. counts?

I recently cleaned out my attic and found a box of T-shirts I wore in high school. There were not one but two "Vote for Pedro" shirts up there. I donated both to my local Goodwill.

I also stopped by the local Goodwill the other day (I have an eBay business so I go looking for weird stuff) and I saw my Vote for Pedro shirts there along with someone else's.

If you want to read something sad, here's an excerpt from the Preston, Idaho Wikipedia page:

For several years the city held a "Napoleon Dynamite Festival" in the summer. Many of the featured festival themes related to events occurring during the film. For example: Tetherball Tournament, Tater Tot Eating Contest, Moon Boot Dance, Impersonation, Look-A-Like Contest, Football Throwing Contest and more. In 2004 there was a single day event that drew approximately 300 people. Although this was not a large crowd, it did help raise $1,500 for the Preston School District Education Foundation. If we were somehow back in the mid-aughts I think Napoleon Dynamite could have had a, uh, excuse me, dynamite run. People would be spamming "Heck yes! I'd vote for you" in the thread and I'd be like 15 and chuckling along and I'd probably start arguing with LeonhartFour over whether Tidus is a good character or not. I really miss those days.

Our other match was also kind of surprising because the 8 seeded Game Grumps managed to not get completely steamrolled by Spongebob. I consider Spongebob pretty strong so who knows if Game Grumps was just underseeded or what.

Is this a sign of weakness for Spongebob or are the Game Grumps stronger together than JonTron alone?

I mean if there's any sign we should be looking for it's "THE WALLS WILL OOZE GREEN SLIME!"
