If read in Chinese, that indeed means 'Records', which is the historical text
In Japanese though it usually refers to the novel 'Romance', but there's a lot of leeway here... anyway I'm sure this is what Beatrice refers to since the novel is massively more popular.

Erika Furudo is the peak of "Absolutely charming and entertaining fictional character but would be an incredibly shit person to have around in reality"

I can't think of a single character in anything that's more extreme in that than she is.

When there is a mass murder, the most sensible action is to let them see Kinzo and blame his disappearance on the killer. Instead Natsuhi keeps panicking, it's a surprise the other relatives haven't called her out. Not to mention Kinzo's secret should be the least of her worries right now.

These witches are laughing hysterically at little things that I don't find funny at all. They sure are bored. Kinzo and Maria are gone, but both of them are pretty unbearable too.

That's true, in so many episodes you can only call Kyrie and Battler 'detectives', and in the end they weren't able to achieve much. Eva and Rosa both solved the epitaph but that's another matter.

To be fair Kyrie didn't have much of a chance when the characters are getting killed by magical beings in broad daylight.
That's why I'm rather digging this episode, it's nice to go back to real detective work over bunnies firing missiles all over the place (where are the bunnies?). More interesting is that even Beatrice and her friends are kept in the dark.

What is Beatrice's plan here, if we accept she exists
She tells Kinzo to hide under the bed, and then goes invisible, everyone comes in, and then... what? Just stand and let Natsuhi take the heat?

You can't have an Umineko episode without someone weird appearing. This time we have Dlanor, and of course she looks like a young girl. A member of Eiserne Jungfrau... what even is this. They have to making these names up, but I'm sure someone will come and tell me it's based on some book or legend in real life.

The receipt is back. So many callbacks to episode 1...

Natsuhi is arguing with the relatives in the 'real world', while Beatrice is fighting against, well, everyone in whatever world she is in. It's like each side from both worlds are working together. Really cool presentation.

Most debates are between Battler and Beatrice so it's always great to see the Ushiromiyas going at each other like this.

It's so weird to see Beatrice to be 'on our side' and using the blue truth

If you go by the Natsuhi imagination theory again... she really has a colorful imagination
Also Beatrice's blue truths about drugs and teleportation devices are awful, they're even more ridiculous than Battler's and have zero chance of working here

On Beatrice's opponents... apparently, hiding Kinzo's death is such a big deal that it has to involve witches, demons, angels, and weapons. Beatrice even gets an execution sentence from heaven over it.

Beatrice's blue is good enough but how on earth is Natsuhi going to use them against Humans, they're aren't going to buy that

The 'phantoms' lost. They never had much of a chance to begin with. The fact I already know Kinzo's is dead as a reader lessens the impact somewhat, doesn't make this part any less fun though

The bad guys/creepy people in the story need some self control.
Beatrice, Lambda, Bern, Kinzo, Maria, Evatrice, Erika.... I get it, you're all so evil. Stop laughing already.

?? The piece Battler suddenly responds to Beatrice speaks with Dlanor? Isn't that before Battler came back to the game, when Bernkatsel was controlling the piece, why would he work against Erika?

Alright, I'm taking some time to think about Battler's solution. I didn't do any thinking in that last fight because I was tired, might as well have a go here

-The doors are windows are all locked, no hidden doors
-He cannot be hiding anywhere in the room

I think I've got it.
It was indeed a closed room after 23:00. In the morning, Kinzo could have hid somewhere in the room. After Rudolf broke the window and went in, it is no longer a closed room, and when Rudolf was searching the room Kinzo could have left from the window. The others in the courtyard are moving to the door and couldn't see him leave.

Now I could be dead wrong because I couldn't remember the details, the others might really have been watching the windows all the time...

The part I got right is Kinzo going out the window. Didn't imagine it would be OK to have him fall three floors, that's Unimeko for you. It was worth a try.

Battler is the man, holy hell. Almost unfair plot armor. And I still don't get why this happened at all. Is it a trick from Lambda? Does Bern allow her piece to get insulted? Or do I interpret this as fake and imagined?

That feels like something from a climax, on the level of episode 4 tea party, but the first twilight hasn't even ended yet. Will be hard for the rest of episode 5 to live up to this, the family are probably going to die quickly since this took up so much time...

This time though Battler is on Beatrice's side fighting to hide the truth, a complete 180 from what he was doing in the question arcs.

What can I say, hating on Kinzo is what I do best

Have to say I wasn't too convinced that Kinzo can really jump 3 floors
Then has family and friends all go 'yeah that's totally what he would do', can't argue with that. It was pretty funny though they're letting Natsuhi off the hook way too easily...
Also jumping out of buildings must be a Ushiromiya family tradition.

Dlanor doesn't seem too bad, during the last fight she gave an impression of a religious zealot against all things magical. Though... aren't they all using barriers and red and blue truths, it's the same as the stuff witches use.

Surely you're not suggesting that Umineko makes no sense?

When someone flagrantly kills your family multiple times using magic, any normal person would never 'understand' no matter the motives.... I'd like to see more of Battler's inner thoughts on this because I'm still not very sure why he's so chill.

Lambda and Bern have an ulterior motive for keeping Kinzo 'alive'? You don't say? That's what being evil is all about.

Ange's sprite appeared for a few seconds just now. It doesn't look like she'll be in this episode. Praying that she comes back eventually, don't waste such a good character

Witches in Umineko are so powerful that even angels and demons have to listen to their double/representative/piece/whatever.

What a overlong explanation. Basically they're saying no one inside the mansion are in any way involved with the letter or the knocking until they discovered it. This might give clues on how the letter appeared in Kinzo's study during episode 1...

For a so-called Answer Arc, it doesn't look like a whole lot is getting answered.
-Nothing from episode 1-4 is addressed.
-They solved the epitaph riddle, but the game doesn't tell me how.
-Just now there's a lot of discussion on the letter and the door, with a whole lot of reds thrown around... then they just ended the discussion.

The questions are piling up. The game keeps on throwing bones at me just to leave me hanging which always infuriates me. There's a feeling... that some of the mysteries won't be addressed at all in the end.

Oh so Battler did use the rain gutter. Well that's more believable than jumping all the way down and also possible for Kinzo to do. At least that's one thing resolved.

The assholes in this game rarely get their comeuppance so it's great to see Erika grovelling. Yeah, I can see this making her more entertaining.

Wow it's the same room as in episode 1. And Hideyoshi is going to get killed here again.
Does this mean the culprit can perfectly predict he's going to go into the room Natsuhi was in and then lock+chain the door, it would be difficult even if it was someone nearby

No one ever thought of the checking for a culprit hiding in the room after killing Hideyoshi? You know, the simplest answer to a locked room mystery?
