Maybe I just have an incorrect view on values during trades. Between the first draft picks trade and these past 2 trades where, imo, the guards are being vastly undervalued, I'm starting to feel like I'm the crazy one.

Trade Time Again!

Bears receive:
OLB DeAndre Levy
49ers 1st round pick (10th overall)

Dolphins receive:
Bears 1st round pick (8th overall)
Bears 3rd round pick (72nd overall)

Bears receive a new starting OLB at the cost of their third and a trade down of two spots in the first. The Dolphins get something out of what may be the highest-rated backup OLB in the league who may have been stuck behind Smith and Williams for two more seasons.

Stan needs to confirm the trade, and it is under 24 hour peer review.

Confirm

Once that trade processes, I will be in the market for a 3rd for RFA purposes. So if there's a player that I have that you'd like let me know. Though I'm expecting more of a trade like I did with the Panthers last year during the draft where I trade down in the 1st for your 1st and 3rd. So if you have interest in moving up in the draft too let me know!

I think context matters with the Guards.

From my standpoint I have an interior O-line consisting of 90, 90, 90, 87, 83. They are all between the ages of 25 and 31 so none are close to retirement. Levitre and Castonzo put up 13 and 8 blocks/sacks ratio so I'm not moving. Christensen and Sitton are expiring so I can't move yet anyway. Fletcher is the one that makes sense to move. I paid a slightly lower 1st for him in RFA last season (I want to say 20th?) so I can't really ask for much more than that when his OVR only went 89 > 90. I also want to create need cap room as despite having 74m I have a ton of expirings

The other trade I can't speak for but looking at roster composition Boling is currently sat as a backup on the depth chart and the 6 pick is pretty high. In the context of KCFs trade, Boling is basically being valued as a late 1st rounder which given similar age to Fletcher and slightly lower OVR is probably fair. The 6 pick would let Sultan get a surefire starter so maybe like an OLB, WR, DT/MLB, FS or SS looking at his roster.

I think another thing to consider is that if you already have a good O-line it is easier to develop a backup O-line player. Whereas if you don't it's a ton harder. I'd say that the Jags and Steelera already have good O-line so their prospect of developing another C/G in the next few seasons even from a 2nd-4th round pick is fairly good given what they have in place already

I don't like how vague and disingenuous this is, so I'm going to come out and say that what is happening is that should Bears WR Kendall Wright go unsigned in this second phase of RFA, that player will be going to the Giants in exchange for their third round. If not, the Giants keep the Bears 3rd and 4th rounders.

I understand why Eddv and Stan would want to keep this hush-hush, but you can't do that because how can this go under a valid peer review if your peers are left in the dark?

RFA Phase 2

The following posts will contain a list of all RFAs, sorted by team, that were offered tenders by their team during the first phase. Each player will have in parenthesis the draft pick compensation required to sign (not simply offer but actually sign) them as well as the default deal that they are looking for to the side.

In order to even submit an offer to a player, you must have the draft picks on hand. Early has the NFL Draft order, which includes any draft pick ownership changes based on previous trades. There have been a few trades since, so keep those in mind for those affected. You should also keep in mind that if you own multiple picks in a round, signing an RFA will have you lose the worst of how ever many picks you have. For example, let's say I try to sign Bengals TE Rob Gronkowski. I own both the 7th and 8th overall picks. Should Gronko accept my offer and the Bears elect not to match my offer in the third phase, I will end up giving the Bengals the 8th overall pick. Also remember that trades have a 24 hour peer review, so you need to act fast if you wish to take advantage of that.

Going back to the deals in question, these deals are for the other 31 teams in the league. The team who first offered the tender is stuck with the 1 year deal unless a team submits an offer during this phase. You can also offer them a long term deal later on in the offseason as well as any time during the pre, regular, and postseason, but what's important right now is that you understand that you can do nothing about your own RFAs at this moment.

If you do wish to submit an offer to an RFA from another team, the deal mentioned is not the exact deal that you have to offer them. You are free to mess with the years, total money, and/or guaranteed money. As a word of caution though, unless you are trying some bizarre psychological attack to where you offer a deal that would devastate a team financially but would be practically forced to accept, you will want to submit an offer that would ultimately net you the player you seek. Not only that, but you are in essence competing with 30 other teams for the right to simply sign an RFA. If you skimp out on any combination of years, total money, and guaranteed money, you are decreasing, sometimes substantially, the odds that you will get the player.

If you do submit a custom offer, use the base deal as a benchmark. Using Wildcats FS Eric Reid, he is asking for a 3 / $9.97 mil / $1.92 mil contract. Dividing the latter two figures by the years, you find out that he is asking for an average cap hit of $3.32 mil (9.97 / 3) and annual bonus of $640k mil (1.92 / 3).

I hope that everyone understands the slash line that I explained earlier in the topic, but if not, do not hesitate to ask any questions. You can direct them to me via PM or through the topic where most users could help you out.

Do not feel compelled to be active in this phase if you don't want to. While most users do not, several do as well as the AI, so it isn't as if nothing happens.

So yeah, just to be clear...

Bears Receive:

Giants Receive
Bears 4th Round Pick
Bears 5th Round Pick

Should WR Kendall Wright then clear the 2nd Round of RFA, I will then trade him to the Giants for my 4th and 5th round picks back. This will essentially make it a 3rd round pick for Kendall Wright. Only reason we're doing it this way is that I'd like a 3rd for RFA and since Wright is already a RFA I can't wait to trade him since then I won't have a 3rd for RFA.

Not really. His salary is dirt cheap.

Do you think I gave him away too cheaply? Because whilst he did get slight interest from other parties, nobody would commit to what I pitched. I was looking for a 1st-2nd area pick for him. Or was willing to give up him and a lesser pick to get a higher 1st.

Reason for the trade is that I have a good track record of developing linebackers and I'm fairly confident I could develop a rookie to be as good or better than him in a few seasons. Alternatively it gives me the chance to take a DT and switch to 4-3 if the board is awful for MLBs.

I'm trying to acquire picks in order to move up and have multiple higher picks. Hard to do when everyone is currently planning for RFA though

The last 2 MLBs I drafted went from 80 > 90 (Laurinaitis) and 78 > 92 (McClain). Going off ratings those 2 players are 1st and 4th in the league and they are both under 30. I'm fairly confident I can develop a replacement via the draft when I have a 92 MLB to line up with him and my 87 and 84 OLBs are on the higher end for the league too.

Also from a fun standpoint. In the last 3 drafts I've drafted 1 starter (at a no frills position in CB) and a ton of people who have filled my bench. Even if I go back 4 seasons the 2 starters from that draft started out as bench players before making the starting lineup.

Basically I don't want to go a 5th draft in a row of drafting zero starters who might show up on the stat sheet. Its boring and I want to actually see some rookie development for a change.

Trade Time: Part III!

Falcons receive:
MLB James Laurinaitis
Dolphins 3rd round pick (96th overall)
S13 Dolphins 6th round pick

Dolphins receive:
Falcons 2nd round pick (34th overall)
S13 Falcons 2nd round pick
S13 Falcons 3rd round pick
S13 Falcons 5th round pick

Apologies to MMX for not posting this for almost two days.

I'm going to be capped out, so I need to shed salary. I hope to have Worrilow in the fold, so I will save several million. Falcons and their massive cap space get a high-rated and productive long-term replacement for Gary Brackett without affecting their first round picks this season and next.

This is effectively trading Laurinaitis for two second round picks. Complicating matters is my requirement to give up a pick. Seeing as I will give up my Mr. Irrelevant pick over my dead body, my latest 3rd rounder was what I chose to give up this year and will receive a third next season. Because I was uncertain if this would pass peer review, I also did the 6th to 5th round swap next season.

MMX needs to confirm, and the trade is under 24 hour peer review.

Laurinaitis was super productive for me and I only traded him because my team was a shambles and both cap and talent. I expect him to be great for the Falcons.

That is a steal of a trade for the Falcons but I get why KCF is doing it. I imagine a lot of teams would have paid that price in a heartbeat

I really didn't want to trade him, but I saw who I was going to re-sign and my draft picks and knew a change had to be made for financial reasons. Laurinaitis made the most sense.

Oh yeah I get it. If I'm feeling the cap crunch I know better teams like you have to be too.

I never wanted to trade Laurinaitis either. Assuming he was equally as productive for you as he was for me he has to be well on his way to being a HoF candidate down the line

Yeah, I don't have a problem with revealing who Eddv wanted from me. Just wanted to be sure KCF was good with everything.

So yeah, just to be clear...

Bears Receive:
Giants 3rd Round Pick

Giants Receive
Bears 4th Round Pick
Bears 5th Round Pick

Should WR Kendall Wright then clear the 2nd Round of RFA, I will then trade him to the Giants for my 4th and 5th round picks back. This will essentially make it a 3rd round pick for Kendall Wright. Only reason we're doing it this way is that I'd like a 3rd for RFA and since Wright is already a RFA I can't wait to trade him since then I won't have a 3rd for RFA.

This trade is official

As a reminder, everyone we have a sheet on the spreadsheet specifically dedicated to trading blocks. I cleaned it up just a few days ago, so only the Falcons are up on there. If you have players, positions, or draft picks that you definitively want to trade or receive, feel free to post them here, in discord, or shoot me a PM, and I will add them there at my earliest convenience.

There are 18 former 1st round picks that are free agents.

- Nine are QBs
- Three are DL that were taken by the Chiefs
- Four were taken in the Top 10

For context that's a mid 2nd to move from the 26th pick to the 10th pick.

Or put another way it's an 86 rated MLB to move up 16 spots.

That's cool.

Approve.

Yeah, pretty much. If you wanted to aggregate all my trades together I gave up a 90 G and an 86 MLB for the 10 pick, a 4th and to move up half a round in the 6th

I'd say on a player value basis it's an overpay but in context it makes a little more sense. The G was my 5th O-lineman and his next up is an 87 with a decent track record. The MLB was due to be paid next season (which I doubt I could afford) and I have a decent record of developing linebackers.

This likely could have been simplified if I had sent Vinson and Fletcher to the Chiefs directly for the 7 pick but that's no fun. Why only have 2 teams involved when you can get to a similar place with 5 teams involved

Well when you put it like that it sounds like you place anton of value on 4th rd picks
