I mean, here's the thing The goal of Umineko is to deny magic That's how you win In episode 3, Beatrice and all the magical/meta characters come up with a grand scheme to make you believe that magic is actually okay and that you can trust the witches And when you give in and accept that the magic is actually not the bad guy you thought it was, you're betrayed and told you were fooled - the goal was still to deny magic, and by giving in, you lost. And Battler swears that he won't fall for the same trick again, with Beato implying maybe he will Now, as I reach the end of episode 8, I choose to accept magic, because it's what Battler wants, and what Ange wants, and etc and etc But yes It's possible that I just lost the game If "the whole second half of episode 3" was just a trick to get me to finally accept magic...
