Break time:

My Stack: 878,960

More than doubled up since last break, in large part due to A3 guy doing A3 guy things.

Shout out to my fiance for being my lucky token as she calls herself, she is really keeping me focused on playing well and it is really great to have someone in the room with me not to overthink anything. She told me to type this for the most part lol. Hi Ash ;)

Chip Lead: 1,116,193
Average: 355,944
People: 945 registered, 797 remaining

9 hours until auto in to day 2 tomorrow at 1.

I'm confused by the registration structure but you're only 300k behind chip-lead RN and doing great.

God, getting paid off with AA is so satisfying. I always say "All's right with the world" when it happens for me.

So two weird things: People can register for this until Level 18 is over.

Second: There are three "day 1s." Day 1a and 1b ar concluded and they are moved to day 2, tomorrow.

This is the third "Day 1" which will move onto day 2 either when there are only 8 left or, more likely, after 9 more hours of play.

169 moved on from the first two day 1s.

Right now 319 total people get paid, which is why I am treating day 2 as likely to be in the money.

Okay so there's only 797 people remaining FROM THIS DAY

I think I get it.

That's really weird. The late registration part is pretty normal though. You get a bunch of idiots registering super late and only having like 12 big blinds to start with by that point smh

A3s is one of the best hands because it blocks exactly what Chris had, and gives you a lot of backdoor winner potential vs strong hands. But 2 pair is not one of those winners lol. You can't blame A3 for Chris getting AA though.

If you fold, no. They have an option to show.

If it went to the final showdown and you mucked because you lost, yes they show.

If you are heads up and your opponent is in position to show first shouldn't you have the option to muck rather than reveal your losing hand? In which case I would think that it wouldn't be recorded to the hand log. Or at least shouldn't be, imo.

It wouldn't be recorded to the log for a certain amount of hands depending on the format. He is talking about the winning hand he mucked to. Yeah, they show. It is how you knew to muck. Sites may show this instantaneously but you are supposed to flip them in order of betting.

I guess that's true. A 4bet would've been fine if they really wanted to be aggressive and were disciplined enough to fold to any aggression from you, but that would require flawless play which they def weren't capable of. There's no way calling the 3bet was good though so folding would be better. But that is very exploitable imo.

Top 5/10 is extremely far into the game and anything can happen to get there. I think if you get a decent lead early and "tread water" you can def get really far though.

But from what I've seen once you do end up in the top 10, the stacks tend to stay relatively constant since everyone is playing so defensively. Still anything can happen though. That's the appeal of no-limit, you can literally lose your entire stack on every single hand.

Makes sense. There's obviously a significant amount of variance in the cards themselves, and it's pretty reasonable to want to try to use your advantage to press and build an even larger advantage.

I guess it's taking on that risk and shooting for the moon or playing more conservatively, acknowledging that your lead won't grow short of a large stroke of luck, and just playing to place well instead of placing at the absolute top. And of course, big money being involved means that pretty much anybody would be tempted to play for the big wins.
