isn't the size of a hurricane, like, astronomical in comparison to even the biggest nuke? all you'd really be doing is throwing a crap-ton of radioactivity into a planet sized blender and spewing it all over the place. sounds like it's really old news at least.

Actually it could work, although the negative effects would be more damaging then the hurricane itself, but the drastic increase in temperature in an isolated area could disrupt the hurricane enough to cause it to dissipate.

So if you actually did it far enough away from a populated area, it could work, although again, the radioactivity would probably be far worse then the potential damage from the hurricane.

Apart from the fact that this might not even alter the storm, this approach neglects the problem that the released radioactive fallout would fairly quickly move with the tradewinds to affect land areas and cause devastating environmental problems. Needless to say, this is not a good idea.

Ive said it before and I still believe that the man could not cook a box of kraft Mac n cheese if you put him in a kitchen with everything he needed and told him he could check the directions on the box as much as he needed

I mean, seriously, you guys are passing on this awesome nuke idea waaaaay to easily. We have a ton of nukes and the theory would be to hit the hurricane just as it's forming, starting to get strong, out in the ocean. A nuetron bomb for instance has a much lower radiation yield, and there are theories (and possibly bombs...cause like we would know about it), that nukes with zero or almost no radiation are possible.

So if we did have them, and we targeted a hurricane as it was first starting, creating a large wind/heat blast, it could in theory disrupt the weather pattern that was building up based on the differences in temperature.

Then again, it could actually make the hurricane worse.....who knows....but it sure would be new!!!

Also it's the only way we can feasibly get a real sharknado, so i'm all for it.

There was strong winds, and rain galore, heading in from sea.
I called it in, the nukes would win, we targeted the storm.
We hit that blasted hurricane, before it could really form.

It worked, it worked, it killed it dead, along with many fish.
But my plan worked, it stopped it dead, it was gone like from a wish.

So now the fish are glowing, but that make's em easier to catch.
And a few of our people's DNA no longer match.
I blew up a hurricane, I sent it straight to hell.
The scientists were all surprised that it mostly ended well.
