No. The non-honors students occasionally teased us for being in honors classes, but no one looked down on each other.

No, but it was looked down upon to be a tryhard

It was generally perceived that we were graded at least somewhat on a curve, so if one or two students went crazy studying and aced everything it would actively harm the rest of the class

The actual subjects we were learning weren't considered important- they were considered busywork. We all just wanted to get through and have some fun along the way

My class President/Valedictorian was arguably one of the most popular people in school, so no.

huh

I always thought it was an American thing to be anti-academic because we are a bunch of SLACKERS and our education is falling behind the rest of the world etc.

I admit I did have some people in some of my middle school classes who wore bad grades like a badge of honor, but they generally didn't look down upon people for getting good grades.

no but I remember in 3rd or 4th grade, there was this dorky kid that got like, an 88 on a paper and he started FREAKING THE FUCK OUT. He thought his life was ruined because it wasn't an A, he was a straight A student up to that point apparently this was his first B ever.

He started screaming at the teacher, he started bawling, it was a trip. You better believe everyone started fucking with him for the rest of the year

i feel like the only kids who got any sort of judgement over their grades were the ones that were straight up dumb as rocks.

There was a kid I never really met in my grade who I only knew as Johnny 14 because his name was Johnny and he got a 14 on the ACT

(for those of you who dont know, that is very bad. Its bottom 13% nationally and our school was above average, so he was probably at least in the bottom 10 scores in our grade... no one else got a mean nickname based on their score, so maybe he was actually the worst.)
