Creates inconveniences in a full priced game.

Offers to let you pay more to not be inconvenienced.

I got my moneys worth out of it and had fun for a while

But I eventually realized they had no real interest in fixing glaring problems with the game. Months after release and energy weapons and automatics were basically unusable due to them breaking within a couple clips, yet they kept releasing updates for things that no one really cared about and adding things to the atom store that were just reused assets from fallout 4. Then I hear that theyre actually selling weapon repair packs for $$$ on the shop.

Bethesda games studio is so far beyond the pale at this point. I dont believe for a second that Elder Scrolls VI wont be riddled with games as a service mechanics

It's like that movie where they made a Hitler musical to defraud investors and embezzle the money because losses don't require them to pay out a return.

The musical was The Producers, but the thing they were making was called ~*~ Springtime for Hitler~*~

Its really, really genuinely good. The stage adaptation. The movie sucks in comparison. I never saw the 1960s movie both were based on.

That's still a long time away considering they have Starfield and maybe one other project they want to release before ES6...

Tbf, even without those awful business practices ES6 doesn't sound great when you consider their most recent games.

In that I almost always optionally choose not to play the game in question at all, they sure are!

Not that publishers care, when you consider things like 50%+ of Take-Two and EA's annual income come from microtransactions at this point. They don't really give a shit that they've lost my $60 when they're getting $10,000 from someone else with poor impulse control.

Pretty much. My wallet vote isn't going to change much on the publisher end, but I do like what it's doing on the player end in that I'm not having my fun hamstrung by monetization schemes (for the most part).

Last game I pre-ordered and probably the last game I ever will at this point. Got it to play with friends, we spent 2 days trying to enjoy it before giving up. I actually kept playing after them, until I hit a bug/glitch that carried over from fallout 4 when logging into a terminal that crashed my whole computer.

I gave up at that point and even after DLC etc releases, have not gone back. Honestly if i'm not gonna play with friends, I see no reason to play fallout 76 instead of fallout 4...which I have never gotten far into, but actually don't really enjoy that much, or more likely, fallout 3/NV which I love and have played over and over again and can't wait to play again.

And its totally broken

https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2019/10/24/fallout-76s-premium-private-servers-are-not-private-its-scrap-box-is-deleting-scrap/

$12.99 to play in a private server thats just a reused instance of the game that other players have gone through and that you cant even actually make private if you want to play alone

And the storage box for scrap that should already be in the game? Its deleting scrap that players are storing in it

The weirdest thing is, it seems like it would actually take MORE effort to funnel new players into an existing "used" world than it would be to just create a new world for them to use as a private server.

Somehow, they've managed to fuck up in a way that takes more effort than doing literally nothing. That takes some kind of amazing anti-skill.

Well, no, I'll credit them with sound business sense on this point. It seems pretty obvious that any players they still had left after a year of being a terrible game with no real overall improvement are so broken in spirit and incapable of breaking their cycle of addiction you could do pretty much anything to them and they'd grab their ankles and accept it.

I think a lot of the outrage over the initial announcement was coming from people who don't even play, or people who do play and complain about everything but keep playing. If anything, this didn't really become a realistic problem until they wound up breaking everything and doubling down on the controversy.
