or maybe next year, I thought that this was their 9th season on the ballot, whoops

He also got busted for peds. Even without that, his numbers still aren't good enough.

Schilling, Bonds, Clemens and Sosa are in their 8th year. I don't know if the steroid thing will keep them out or not.

It should keep Sosa out, and Schilling shouldn't get in because of that and because he's batshit crazy

But Bonds and Clemens were just so good...

Of the new guys I can really only see Jeter making it. They're all great players but to me only Jeter makes the HOF cut.

For the holdovers, I think the steroid thing keeps them all out. Maybe in their 10th (and final) year someone may show some mercy but I saw an interview with Hank Aaron and he said he'd do everything he could to keep them out.

The good thing with this ballot is that Larry Walker finally has a good shot of getting in. Utterly ridiculous that he hasn't been voted in yet because of the Coors effect nonsense.

Hopefully Rolen gets some more consideration this time as well.

I was just thinking of Larry Walker. Is there some bias against Coors because of the altitude? I mean, he's just a player, the altitude is not his fault.

Though Abreu and Soriano sure looked good on my fantasy teams back in the day.

But Jeter, Bonds, and Clemens are the best of the best if the HoF wants to be strict.

Yeah, there's a lot of scrutiny around Rockies hitters just because of how hitter friendly Colorado is. Obviously every Rockies hitter does benefit from it at least a bit, but Walker was a great baseball player regardless. And the voters will have to vote in a Rockies player eventually. They can't just continue to penalize players for playing there.

I mean I get it. Yeah the altitude, blah, blah, blah but the league should have never put a team there if they were going to penalize them for the altitude.

I think this time they'll let him in just because there isn't anyone else that really sticks out other than Jeter. Obviously Bonds, Clemens, and Schilling should be voted in, but that's unlikely to happen. Well, maybe Schilling will eventually. And you can make arguments for a couple others, but again I'm not seeing anyone else who's a lock like Jeter is.

Okay Billy Beane. You say that like he's a liability. His WAR is totally respectable. While respectable isn't HoF, being the best ever defensive ss is. SS's are put on the field for their defense. He's a straight baller regardless of whether .02 BA points translates to more wins than .02 fp points.
