If Red Skull in the MCU canon was like "Man I'm bored now there's no Soul Stone here, think I'll return to Earth and fuck some Japanese girls."

And then came back to Earth. How should the government react?

I mean on the one hand he's a mass murdering Nazi

On the other hand, that was like 85 years ago. And he's spent the time since as a changed man in isolation looking at rocks for thousands of hours

And considering Cap'n is out of the picture, S.H.I.E.L.D is out of the picture and he was acting uncover with motives only known to like 17 people. Does anyone even have any proof of the things he did anymore?

And if we did arrest him, what would the punishment be? Life in prison? The Power Stone seems to have made him ageless.

Execution?

I mean what purpose does that solve.

Do his victims grandchildren deserve justice? Or is that vengeance?

Should he be put on trial? What if he is put on trial but no one can prove he did all the horrible shit he did. I mean we all know he did it but we can't prove it anymore. Should we covertly cap him? (no pun intended)

Hell isn't he just as strong as Cap'n? Why didn't the avengers try to recruit him against Thanos? You'd think they'd let bygones be bygones. I mean look at Bucky and Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver and Black Widow.

The list of heroes who haven't started out as insane murderers is shorter than the list of those that did.

As I said, what if we couldn't prove he was ina court of law?

And what if someone argued his 85 years on a rock planet staring at rocks where in he gave up being a Nazi was already justice?

Sounds like a prison sentence to me.

And like I said, if you call for life without parole, what if it turns out Red Skull can live for 150,000 years. Do we keep him in prison forever?

What if he's in prison and a new threat worse than Thanos turns up, could we use his help? or should he stay in prison?

I suppose the question here really boils down to how you view the purpose of the justice system.

This topic is dumb. Nazi war criminals were caught and prosecuted fairly recently. Why would he not stand trial for his crimes?

This reminds me of a thought I had about the criminal justice system not long ago.

Let's say hypothetically, someone is able to be revived from death.

And let's say hypothetically, someone like Ted Bundy is revived from death.

Ted Bundy was someone who was convicted for the murders he was charged with, and was put to death by the death sentence.

So if he were revived from death at the age he was when he died- do we let him live a life? Does he get to just go settle down somewhere and we have to wait to see if he's going to commit a crime again? I mean technically, he served out his sentence by being put to death.

So he fulfilled his punishment for his crimes. Would they have to modify written laws and punishments to say that by fulfilling this punishment, you have to be put to death and stay dead?

There's some legends (dunno if true) about the old west were criminals were sentenced to be "Hanged at the town square" or whatever

Who then were hung, didn't break their necks, survived, and the authorities let them get away because they served their sentence.

That's allegedly were "Hung until dead" came from.

Probably apocryphal but I love the mental image of the widow watching her husband's murderer be hung. Only to swing there for a while, untie himself and just walk off.

While 5 armed lawmen go "Sorry mam, can't stop him. hands tied. We hung him. Not our fault he's fine"

Last I checked Wanda wasn't a Nazi that planned to use a magical space cube to commit mass murder. She submitted herself to being altered so she could go after Stark alone.

Technically Red Skull was never a nazi. Hydra was a separate branch that considered itself distinct from the Nazis and only used Hitler as a pawn for their own purposes
