Only 3 new deaths outside of Hubei. It seems relatively contained for now in Hubei. I dare say they have done a relatively good job with containment after the initial blindside outbreak.

Over 10% of the passengers on the Diamond Princess cruise now are confirmed to have the virus with more testing still going on.

I don't see what there is to lose to be more alert about viruses, like washing your hands more, take care of public hygiene, and not going to work when you are sick to avoid infecting people. Yet apparently it is fear mongering when you try to raise more awareness and publish research papers. Yes it is less dangerous than the Black Death or Spanish Flu but the point is to nip the whole thing in the bud before it becomes a bigger threat

By the end of the month, assuming a increase of 9% daily, we will reach 5k deaths
You do not need those conspiracy theories. Just use basic math. It's scary enough

By the way by the end of March it will be 80k deaths so..yay...

The question is do other areas in a month re-enact these surges or is it just the Hubei area just being overwhelmed specifically due to being caught off guard. The deaths have almost peaked it seems. New cases have definitely peaked.

Wuhan? I wouldn't go back at all yet, man. I'd definitely play that fucker by the safe than sorry mantra. I mean, you aren't likely in the demo that succumbs to this, but still.

I heard someone posited a disgusting tho would be ironic stat. That this disease is actually increasing population in China because 1600 people die a day driving in China and that by the country being locked down so much that many more people aren't dieing by driving on the roads than are by the disease. = /

That doesnt surprise me. Ive heard that if they hit someone in China they are more likely to reverse and kill the victim because the compensation to the family is less than the hospital bills.

There is a culture of actively not helping others. Like if a child or old person falls down nobody will help them. It came from a wave of people suing the person trying to help and winning.
There are a lot of stories, A LOT, about someone trying to help somebody and being sued for huge sums of money.
One of the most famous is a guy in a lift, the old guy is smoking and the other guy asks him to stop. Old guy gets mad, has a heart attack, old guys family sues other guy and wins.
i saw a video of 2 guys beating a foreigner to death in the middle of the street because he was dating their daughter/sister. People just stood around videoing.

They say they have the vaccine. But, they also said they had the Zika vaccine. And after how many years it still hasn't passed clinical trials to get to the market. That company it is rumored just says these things to try and get new rounds of investment and probably has zero chance of actually getting a vaccine to market.

That lab has never in like 20 years or something of existing had a single drug go to market.

That said, inovio announced the vaccine supposedly being made in 3 hours 3 days ago. By now, it would have already surged and you would likely be buying at a premium if the news surged the stock. You would have had to been riding the wave a few days ago for a real buy and sell profit, imo.

Apparently every single website has a different number. The only place that has 55,000 specifically is a hospitalization for flu season October to December of the past year though.

Oh yeah I was going by the previous year. It's only up to 14k this season (which isn't done yet).

I will waste one more post on your nonsense then back on topic.

The reason this is an interest to some is that it is a viral outbreak that doesn't happen very often, it has a mortality rate higher than the flu, it could become the new flu with a higher mortality rate, and there is a lot of unknown regarding it. There is still a lot we do not know about it.

There is a reason we are seeing lockdowns, quarantines, and entire areas grinding to a halt over this and not the flu.

If you would like to petition your government to begin flu quarantines and such because the flu is worse than a potentially far more devastating virus, then so be it.

The issue here is to prevent its spread so it isn't like the flu in infections every year at a far more fatal rate.

You are comparing the onset of a brand new virus to a deeply rooted and established flu. It is not a fair comparison, and it shows you are just coming in here to try and argue. If you wish to discuss the Flu, I am sure you can make your own Flu topic. It sure sounds like it would be a very informative topic

You are aware of the difference between absolute numbers and percentages right, the 40k deaths are like 0.1% while this coronovirus has around 2.5% so it's at least 25 times deadlier, of course it is worrisome, this is like elementary level mathematics

How deadly is it if you arent old? Has it spread to the south in USA yet? How do you know if you have it? Ive got symptoms out of nowhere and its the only three symptoms I can find that you get with he virus. Im sure its nothing, but its worrisome.

Relatively not spread in US. San Diego area or Illinois would be the most worrisome area, but technically anyone traveling with it could have it (not many cases in the south right now).

You likely don't have it, but you could get checked if you think you might for any reason have gotten in contact with someone who may have had it.

It is deadly to older, immune deficient, or those with comorbidities. Mostly the old tho.

If you think you could have it. Wear a mask to not spread it, but again, you likely don't.

Not particularly deadly by itself on it, the big issue is the pnumonia and possible diarrhea. It's pretty harsh on lungs so breathing issues are expected.

But it's doubtful you got it and probably just have a cold or even the regular flu. Similar treatment either way.

I figured not but still its worrisome. I heard five people in a city not far from here got it. And Ive had slight difficulty breathing and a cough and slight fever all day. Thanks for telling me its unlikely.
