Might as well pick a game where I've actually made significant progress. First one that comes to mind is....

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts. I made it all the way through the second run-through. However, I could never beat the boss on the final level with that horrible holy cross weapon (or whatever it is) that's required to get to the final boss.
