I drive a pretty low car, requiring me to "look up" at the drive through window. I ordered coffee. The employee didn't put a cap on the coffee, and held the coffee from the top (like those claw machines). I grabbed the coffee on the vertical surface (like you would a cup), and when I lowered it down to bring it into my car, the hot coffee spilled over my hand, which made me flinch. This flinching pretty much led to most of the coffee being spilled all over my lap and the inside of the car. The employee, without even apologizing, handed me lots of napkins and a cap for the coffee.

I drove to the parking area to clean up, and tried to enter the Wendy's to bitch. It was locked (drive through only, due to Covid-19). Luckily, the coffee wasn't hot enough to cause any burns, but holy shit was I furious (and am still pretty pissed off, since the car smells like fucking coffee now, despite my best efforts of cleaning it). I called the phone number listed on Wendy's and on Google Maps, but that led to Wendy's HQ customer service line, where I told them what happened. They just apologized and that was it.

*EDIT*: To clarify, I assumed a cap was on the cup. I did not know there was no cap on it.

I did talk to Wendy's HQ, and also left a note at the "talktowendys.com" site with my receipt ID and stuff. Hopefully that's enough for them to do something about it. Never going to return to that freakin' Wendy's again. Seriously... the lack of care, and the callous attitude while I was literally screaming from the hot coffee spilling all over my hand and legs... fuck 'em.

In the McDonald's case, there was a safety switch that was supposed to make sure the coffee wasn't too hot, but it wasn't working. I can't post the pic here, but just search "McDonald's coffee burn" the injury is horrific.

After that mcdonalds coffee lawsuit where that poor woman got 3rd degree burns all over her lap (and the spin machine made it out like she was some kind of golddigger), I'm sure the cup had some legally binding contract on it where you agree to sell your soul to and indemnify wendy's upon purchase. Everything has fine print since then.

They'll give you some gift cards. If you put in a complaint to any of the fast food restaurants they give you gift cards. Doesn't even matter what your complaining about.

They didn't offer anything when I called them. They just said stuff like "we're sorry you did not have a satisfactory service, we understand your concerns, and we will look into it".
