The Trump Administration has withheld $3.7m from FDNY's 9/11 First Responders' fund. Going back to the beginning of the administration they started withholding payments to the fund without giving an explanation.

Treasury claims they withheld the funds to "settle debts NYC had with HHS." The administration is being attacked from both Democrats and Republicans in New York for this, as they should be. Also a reminder that it literally took 10 fucking years to even get Congress to pass the law establishing this fund and Jon Stewart making it his personal crusade because McConnell and the GOP continually opposed and blocked it.

Let's be honest. It just is that our pathetic mod, that I won't name outright so it isn't a personal insult, needs to invest in a dictionary and probably touch up on their reading comprehension.

Just imagine modding everyone for saying their arguments are foolish. This board would be dead ten million times over more than it is already. It's a dumb (ZOMG IN BEFORE MODERATION) moderation.

Unless things have changed radically in the past few years, boards don't have personal mods or anything. Anything marked goes into a general queue that is handled by whichever mod on the site happen to see it first.

Like, I suppose hypothetically a mod could mark something themselves and then immediately go to the queue if they wanted to, knowing that the message they marked would now be there and almost certainly beat anyone else to the punch.

Boards have set mods. XIII and Ryo are two of ours. Error15615 or whatever is one of CEs. Etc.

It can go to another mod if they aren't around I presume, but they are ours mods.

Whenever you (or anyone else) reports a post, it goes into a queue. Moderators/admins can view the queue and any of the marks. There's no specific order that we have to view them in, and all moderators are volunteers/the team is small, so sometimes it takes us a bit of time to get to reports.

Edit: Ninja'd. I remember Ulti I believe talking to XIII about his moderation and XIII explaining why he moderated it if memory serves correct like a month or two ago.

this in itself is fair. i just think it's ridiculous that you can't take "if a lead mod posts it, it's probably ok to post" on this site as a rule of thumb.

Feeling better about this after the Wisconsin Supreme Court delayed mailing out ballots while it decides whether to add the Green Party. Looks like the answer will probably be yes and we can get both on the ballot. Incredible that the Dems are trying to rig the election after spending months screaming about how they thought Trump would do it.

If they receive two then the voter has double voted, which is a felony. If you had thousands of people doing so it would presumably be a huge hassle for counting votes, and ones that were missed would lead to illegitimate additional votes for Trump.

If one of them is rescinded it doesn't seem like voting twice. As for this making counting harder, they could just require that all mail ballots be received by election day. That would fix the problem and all voters could be confident their ballot didn't get lost in the mail. After election day passes, they have no remedy if their ballot ends up lost.

11th Circuit rules with DeSantis that felons who completed their sentence can't vote unless they pay the fines and fees against them. The 11th Circuit is one that Trump was able to "flip" with appointees and wouldn't you know it guess how they all voted? Author of the opinion along with two concurring judges also part of that list of SCOTUS potentials Trump put out there.

SCOTUS previously denied an opportunity to overrule a similar ruling from a lower court earlier but even if appealed there Florida's registration deadline is October 5.

Also a reminder that Florida has no system in place for people to find out what their debts are after they're released from prison. It's been the efforts of some attorneys and voting rights groups to try and figure it out for people which is an absolute fucking joke.

And how are they officially rescinding it? Just showing up at a poll and voting doesnt rescind your mailed ballot. They would probably need to contact the election office to officially rescind it.

All this is doing is making sure polling locations will be even more crowded because there's going to be a bunch of extra people are showing up to ask if their mailed ballot has been processed.

I think it varies by state. In NY, you are permitted to vote in person even if you cast your absentee ballot. The absentee ballot is not counted if you choose to do so.
