Or people who don't want to hear about politics everywhere they turn. Particularly from people who have little to no credibility to be talking about politics publicly.

My big problem with famous people talking politics is that it's usually a regurgitation of somebody else's opinion that we've heard a million times already. Do we really need LeBron James to say "racism is bad" in the middle of a sporting event? It's not that I disagree with the opinion, because racism is definitely bad, but it gets old being preached to day in and day out from every conceivable direction.

Then I think I understand where youre coming from to some degree. My mom and I, for example, agree on alot of things ideologically. But I cant stand hearing her discuss politics because she basically regurgitates the same talking points you hear on MSNBC without providing any of her own analysis. It doesnt help that she only got invested into politics when Trump became president. Like Im almost 30 years younger than her and yet Ive been following politics twice as long as she has. It feels kind if phony, if you will.

So yeah, if Im discussing politics with someone who I dont feel is qualified or informed, I immediately become disinterested regardless of if I agree with them or not.

I just think there was a time when you weren't bombarded by politics everywhere you turned that I'd like to go back to.

When politics permiates the culture so deeply tht you can't turn on a ballgame without hearing about it, political ideology gets to the same base level thought of "us vs them" that you have in sports. Then the talking heads get ahold of it and the story isn't even about what players are kneeling for anymore, it's just about the players kneeling.

Yeah, this is where I am. Its not that its politics are seeping into everything, its that I really just dont give a shit what celebrities have to say about it. Most of them didnt get their fame from thinking. And I fucking hate Donald Trump.

Not really.

Politics are like vegetables. A little bit of veggies on a sandwich or on the side is fine. Replacing my hamburger with a salad or my pepperoni pizza a veggie pizza? Not fine.

I dislike Trump. But that doesn't mean I feel like wholesale forfeiting entertainment for the greater good of reminding people what's really important.

Also, too much politics in film and media is self-defeating. After a while, it gets written off as propaganda and begins to galvanize the party its meant to knock the air out of.

The analogy isn't that "you need both these things to live", it's that "you can't avoid either of these things if you're alive".

You can't avoid politics. You can't avoid breathing oxygen. That they are alike in this one way does not mean that they are alike in every way, and that's not what an analogy implies
