Current Events > Playing Fire Emblem 3 Houses for the 1st time. Any tips?

The Blue Lion students arent as fun or charming as Golden Deers were. They dont seem like they get along with each other much either, lots of B max support levels. So far I like Mercedes for the relentless optimism, and Dedue for the overcoming prejudice storyline.

Sylvain has really bad Movement at this point and he always starts in a really bad spot on the map so hes underleveled so far. Im hoping Ingrid will be my Leonie equivalent in battle. And yeah, Demitri is destroying everything and since he excels at Riding he got to a Cavalry class earlier and moves so much faster and slaughters everything before the others can get there.

BTW, I REALLY hate how I have to kill so many students. It feels like Im killing so many innocent people. I think Im almost done with this route but I havent played as much as I thought because I know Im about to go kill more innocent people

Does Edelgard ever show regret or question what she is doing? I understand she must show unshakable resolve to her empire but it feels like she isnt that... well... human to not really be effected. She seems to be effected far more about the struggles of leading the Impire compared to the lives she has taken. I get that this is the path she chose to walk but a little empathy would really make her feel like she is human IMO.

Im not done yet so she might do this. Its also strange that Byleth just rolls with it all the way without really having any internal conflict either.

Im glad you understood what I meant with that typo. Thats what I get for multitasking. Anyone, the lack of empathy really bothers me. So much so that it doesnt feel like the canon route, if there is even one. It feels so... fake. I know people say that this is the best route in the game but I find that hard to believe.

It feels like all the story fluff was very well done. Added true depth to most of the characters. However, it feels like they dropped the ball on the main story in terms of emotion and realistic reactions to these type of situations.

I hope the other routes do this aspect better. I want to see regret, grief and the resolve to push through it. Not just pretend like it doesnt effect you. The story doesnt even seem to give subtle hints that it effects her. Either that or it is so subtle that I didnt pick up on it.

My feeling on each route is that they're all fundamentally flawed in their own way so there's none I'm 100% satisfied with. Ultimately I think Golden Deer has the least major problems.

I wanna say that the others do it better, but I also think depending on which other, it doesn't really become a relevant emotion.

Honestly something I feel is that Edelgard in general is much better characterized in routes that are not her own.

Only just before you kill her in one of the non CF routes. Something something regrets not having faith in your strength to defeat the ones who slither in the dark earlier.

Sounds like the Golden Deer Route would be the best in my opinion. What is crazy is that was the route I was heavily debating on taking vs Edelgards route. I really want to play that route. Im not sure if Ill even bother with the Blue Lions route but Im sure Ill get to it eventually

Golden Deer is a really good route although it's kinda short and the ending is kinda stupid.

I think it's worth noting that Edelgard is almost a completely different character in CF compared to how she behaves in every other route, though this can be partially attributed to Byleth's presence as the other BE students point out.

Also with the lack of cutscenes and how short it is, CF seems like it was the last route they designed and just ran out of time, like how the Death Knight without DLC shows up as an ally once and Edelgard says she'll explain later, and the matter is completely dropped.

CF was not intended to be in the game. Originally you would be forced to go to the church. They added it in at the last minute because they figured people might get mad if their avatar couldn't bone edelgard.

There is, I just don't wanna give them. It's kind of an "oh cool" moment when it changes from White Clouds and you learn what it is. I assumed abbreviations were enough for understanding if they get referenced later.

At this point, the Church strong arming everyone and only killing people that rise against it was the more peaceful way of doing things. At least there was no war and people weren't dying left and right. This is so stupid.

Edelgard stans rank routes based on how well the plot of that route treats Edelgard. As her primary enemy in the story, they hate Dimitri and anything to do with him. You may have been talking to one of those.

From a lore perspective, Dimitri's is actually the worst, but once you learn the lore from Golden Deer I think it's the most satisfying one from a character perspective.

What I find strange is that, based on some pictures and some things Ive seen outside of my game, Dimitri seems more... put together... on the Black Eagle route based on what Ive seen and Im on the mission where Im suppose to kill him. Apparently he is suppose to go kinda crazy? I also saw a picture where he loses his eye?

I thought he was a shit show based on that. Is it more like, with Edelgard, Im more of her rock that holds her together and, for Dimitri, Im more like a nuke that drives him insane even though Im with him all the time as his professor? I dont know because I havent played that route.
